nationality/ethnicity: half sun elf from the swamplands

favorite fruit: goodberries blueberries!

favorite season: spring when nature is freshly recovering from hibernation

favorite scent: fresh, earthy, woody smells like cypress, but also dewy moss, and certain fungi

coffee, tea, or hot chocolate: herbal tea brewed from the many leaves and spices that she grows and carries with her

average hours of sleep: 6-8, depending if she’s shifted recently and how tired she gets

dogs or cats: all living creatures are her friends but reptiles are her most treasured ones. her companion is a pink viper named strawberry milksnake.

dream trip: anywhere and everywhere, so long as she has pleasant company

random fact: her concept is inspired by cycles of life and decay and the ouroboros - she’s a circle of spores druid, predominantly uses acid magic, and relies on casting more but prefers to shift into a monitor lizard if necessary

my druid translating what she and the leader of the circle of lycanthropy druids that the party encountered are discussing with some insects that have gone inside a nearby burial mound full of undead on how to seek out a warlock’s phylactory and how the circle might be convinced to later help them kill a lich to prevent his ascent to godhood if it can be proven that it is a corruption of nature:

Elaith glances up from a haphazard array of paper, fungi, and flora clippings, which one might consider a mess, yet seems to have some sort of order to her mind. She tucks her hair behind a pointed ear and purses her lips.

“I shouldn’t share this, not really. Druids and secrets, secrets and druids. You know how it is.” A heavy sigh escapes her as she waves a flippant hand. “My mentor—another druid, you see—found me as a girl wandering the forest. I begged them to teach me their magic, thus a druid I became.” She pauses to place a pile of papers into a folded leather book, blinking owlishly as she looks up again. “Where was I? Oh, yes, my magic. I’m particular to acid spells for the same reason I’m fascinated by decay, the natural order of life and death. This magic allows me to be a proactive part of the cycle.”

A pink viper slithers out of a nearby satchel, which Elaith scoops up with a pointed look, muttering to it as if scolding a child. “And, of course, when having a venomous friend like Strawberry around, it’s useful to know a thing or two about corrosion.”

the party is still deep in the burial mound searching for the keys to the lich’s phylactery but last night they also got encountered by a wererat with an offer for elaith to join the circle of lycanthropy on behalf of her weredruid friends

DM: the wards on the hand print mechanisms are down now. / cleric: …..I touch it?

barbarian, post-rage: I should use this more often!

cleric: do we think peter laughner the bard sold his soul to the devil to become a lich?

ranger: [shoots electric bolts to test the confines of a devil’s trap holding bearded devils and kills one]

DM: there’s one [bearded devil] left. / druid: I cast creeping doom. / DM: …..the bugs eat the devil.

DM: there’s a locked box, but since our rogues didn’t show tonight, an NPC rogue has arrived to unlock it for you.

cleric: if the lich really is a bard, does that mean he’ll have a big treasure stash?

9. if your OC were to imagine their idyllic life (realistically or otherwise) what would it be like?

honestly it’s what she’s living right now - minus the undead army and lich problems. but traveling with interesting companions and her snake friend, living out of the forest, practicing her magic, etc is all ideal to her, but she also tends to live in the moment day-to-day.

16. what trait do they find most attractive/appealing about others?

she’s mostly intrigued by what drives other people, observing and picking apart their motives. as for what appeals to her, though, it’s having some sense of a code to follow and standing by it.

oooo this is one I’ll have to come back to when I get a playlist going but I can def imagine something instrumental for her, maybe a little light with an eerie edge to it

23. what sort of routines, rituals, or rules do they have or set for themselves?

she’s not the most habitual and she can be quite scattered at times, but she does try to adhere to natural law. (it’s something that’s sort of come up in campaign - she’s trying to convince a circle of other druids that a lich is unnatural to aid the party in stopping one from ascending to godhood). she puts herself in a proactive position when it comes to nature; she’ll prevent anything that goes against it, and uses magic as part of the cycle of life and decay.

how your muse responds to stress.  

flustered and anxiously, unable to sit still, tries to throw herself into things that keep her occupied or wanders off alone to decompress.

how your muse responds to anger.

semi-patiently and evenly in her own tone because she’s very diplomatic, but a quirked brow ‘I know you’re not speaking to me that way’ admonishing type of reaction.

what calms your muse down after a bad day?

going for a drive to clear his head; slouching into his favorite chair with his feet up on his desk, after pouring a few fingers worth of totally not illegal whiskey in a glass, and reading for a while; taking a little nap if he’s able to sleep.

how your muse responds to stress.  

stress makes him grouchy and snippy, and though he tries to keep it in check, he can lash out a little too harshly. he gets very fidgety, too.

how your muse responds to anger.

cold and closed off, not receptive of anger directed at him but not particularly reactive, more of an ‘I’m not tolerating this attitude’ aloofness.

3. what architectural or design aesthetic would best suit them?

not to be cliché but that woodsy-esque brand of art nouveau architecture that high fantasy media often uses for elves is so perfect for her, but also like. treehouses. small cabins. but in a cluttered way like howl’s moving castle

10. what piece of moody poetry or novel quote best encompasses your character?

it’s not poetry or a novel reference but there’s a tweet I pinned to my pinterest board for her that’s like ‘the woods have remembered you ever since the first time you got lost in them’ and it’s so perfect for her.

13. is your character bilingual or multilingual? which language are they most comfortable in or prefer using? how did they come to learn them?

she’s multilingual! she mainly speaks in common, but she’s also fluent in druidic and sylvan (learned from her mentor), and elven (learned from her elven parent).

18. what is one thing that they only let those closest to them see?

her little doodles and flower/spore/leaf prints! she’s shy about them.

the (swampy) forest <3 let her go find some reptiles and fungi and sit in the muck for a little while and maybe she’ll calm down <3

tea! she brews her own with the herbs and florals that she grows or picks on her travels.

hmmm not artsy in the sense that she would consider herself an artist, but she’s into a sort of scrapbooking in a way with leaf and fungal spore presses, and might doodle her companions on scraps of paper.

contents of her travel pack: healing salves; trail rations and berries; waterskin; leaves, flowers, mushrooms, and rocks that she’s plucked off the ground; holly and mistletoe focus; coin pouch with very few GP.

wandering back into the forest to clear her head, venting to strawberry, and taking very long naps.

high-pitched giggling, nose scrunched but often hidden behind her hands, radiating amusement.
