"I mean, my grandparents were very into honoring our Celtic ancestry - especially anything that had to do with the Sidhe - so I shouldn't be surprised to learn the supernatural exists... yet somehow I still am."

Born and raised in Mystic Falls, Virginia, Fiona is considered the odd member out of Mystic Falls High's Golden Quartet. Unlike Elena, Bonnie, and Caroline, she is not into cheerleading, and is almost more of a wallflower at parties than her friends. Still, she is very close to the town's other golden girls, and has been since they were little children. Smart, friendly, and somewhat naive, Fiona is content with her life in Mystic Falls... except for her long-standing crush on her friend Elena.

The same summer Grayson and Miranda Gilbert went over Wickery Bridge, Fiona lost her grandparents, who had always been huge on honoring the families Celtic ancestry - including leaving all of their stuff to Fiona. Juggling mourning her own loss and being there for her friend/secret crush, Fiona slowly went through the stuff her grandparents left her, coming across an ancient book that seemed full of spells. Inside was a letter from her grandparents that explained everything they weren't able to - the Riley's were descended from Celtic druids and have had a close relationship with the Sidhe. Right in time, it turns out, because Bonnie begins to come into her own powerful magic ancestry and a mysterious new student named Stefan Salvatore starts at school, quickly zeroing in on Elena and followed by a trail of dead bodies drained of blood.

Okay I wanted to say this for those who are curious about Riley (ahem @yanderelovlies )

But if Riley was actually a yandere and I had to describe her it would be with the sing "Red means I Love You" cuz Riley kinda lives in a delusion and anything the threatens to tare that delusion apart she'll get rid of. Her goal would be to get the one they love to see what she sees...to get them to live within her delusion. Riley's delusion isn't something just made to keep herself happy, you gotta remember Riley is a separate yet connected personality to Iris. The delusion if anything is a coping mechanism that has gotten way too out of hand and the same goes for Riley herself. It's kind of why Riley will only refer to people by the one name she knows which is usually just a nickname or not a real person's name. For example Riley would never call Elena by her real name, she'd only call her by the name she knows Elena by which is Wonder. In a way Riley's delusion is just seeing the world through an odd 80s kids show/sitcom filter, she sees it as a bright and funny life that everyone gets to be part of....where they all get to be happy....forever....cuz who wouldn't want to be happy?

Waking up, the smell of antiseptic stung your nose, the bright lights making you squint even though your eyes were closed.

There was a slight ringing in your ears, a heaviness in your chest, your head pounding as you tried to push past the overwhelming dizziness to pry open your eyes.

The lights were indeed blinding, but your body burned in pain; the kind of pain you'd not felt for a good few years. But you fought through, your eyelids fluttering open, sending sharp aches through your forehead.

You groaned, raising a hand to rub your eyes as you tried to sit up.

"Easy now, princess. Don't push too hard."

You'd recognise that southern twang anywhere.

You were back home, back on US soil, safe from the atrocities happening in Urzikstan. You were safe, and you were alive.

"Graves?" You squeezed out, voice dry and raspy; wretchedly so.

It made you cough, and you gripped the sheets in pain as you tried to hold back the gags threatening to come up. Graves lurched forward, a soft hand on your back to help you upright, while the other brought a cup to your lips.

"Hey, hey, s'alright. Here." He whispered, fingers resting under your chin to help you take in the refreshing liquid.

You gulped it down quickly, taking a relieved breath once you lent back down, head being enveloped by the softness of the pillow beneath you. As you looked around, you noticed you were alone on the wing.

"Thank you." You whispered, and he smiled softly at you as he set the cup down, leaning back in the chair that had been placed close to your bed. "What happened?"

"You got shot, princess. One through your old scar, the other grazed your shoulder. Caused some serious damage but nothin' the medics couldn't fix. You're gonna be alright."

"Always am." You spoke, and he laughed a little.

"Worried us, y'know."

"Oh? You were worried about little ol' me, Commander?"

He shook his head, red tinting his cheeks, "How couldn't I be? Y'were damn near unconscious when we got there."

You almost missed it, but even through the haze of the pain and sheer amount of drugs you were on, you caught it.

"Wait- huh? You were there?"

Graves sat up, leaning forward to place his hand tentatively on your leg, "Well, yeah. My Shadows got the fastest aircrafts this side of the pacific, ain't no way I was lettin' anyone else come get'cha."

"Well, thank you, Phillip. Guess I owe you one."

"-Think you owe him more than that, hun."

The voice came from behind the curtain on your left, that was yanked out of the way to reveal a nurse. Light blue scrubs fit her modestly, and she had long blonde hair, curled to frame her face.

She was pretty.

Really pretty.

She threw a dazzling smile to Graves, who just nodded, his eyes barely leaving you to acknowledge her.

The girl frowned, stuttering in her steps as she approached your bed, lifting your wrist.

"So, you're finally awake! How are y'all doin'?"

Her accent was strong, way stronger than Graves' was. As was her perfume, and the way it moved through the air and circled your nostrils made your nose tickle.

"I'm okay I suppose." You spoke, looking at her.

"Good! Your heart rate has certainly improved, so I think it's safe to say the bleedin's finally under control. My name's Elena, by the way."

"(Y/N)."

"Oh I know who you are, Miss Reaper." She smiled kindly, "Commander Graves over here told me all about'cha in the three days you've been out cold-"

"Three days?!" You screeched.

You'd been unconscious for three days? What the fuck had gone on? How was Alex? Farah? Where the hell was Laswell? Where was-

Scrambling at your sheets, your thoughts overwhelming you, you leapt from the bed, sending the machines around you beeping wildly as you pulled the wires from your body.

Pushing through the searing pain, you tried to move, stumbling into the waiting arms of Graves, who forced you back onto the bed.

"No! Phillip- God fuck!" You yelped in pain, hand coming down to press onto your side, "Let me- Stop! I need to find Laswell I need to know what's going on!"

"She's not here! I'll call her- (Y/N)!" He raised his voice, placing his hands on your shoulders to steady you, "I'll call her, but you gotta stay in bed, okay? Alright?"

Your breathing steadied, both Graves and Elena guiding you back into bed, the stitches you pulled in your rashness quickly fixed up.

Gently, he lay you down, before moving to leave the room. Elena followed him, and you couldn't help but stare as they spoke in hushed tones at the door. Every time she placed her hand on his arm, or leaned a little closer, you felt your blood boil.

Could she be more fucking obvious?

But why did you care?

Shaking your head, you looked away from them and down at your body. Bandages were wrapped tightly around your stomach, thick padding over the top of your hip stained red. Tears pricked your eyes at the sight, saddened to be, once again, in this position.

You'd not been injured seriously on duty since Afghanistan, and to be hurt in the same place...well, it had a sense of bittersweet irony.

The mask couldn't protect you from everything.

Graves came back quickly, and with his help, your pillows were plumped and finally you sat comfortably upright, your legs outstretched in front of you, and the tablet in your lap.

He pulled his chair close, leaning against your arm slightly to be in view, and pressed the button to call. It barely rang for a second before you were being greeted with Laswell's face.

"(Y/N)? Honey- oh thank god you're okay."

"Hey, ma." You smiled back.

"Are you okay, sweetheart? In any pain? You need anything? I'll have it there for you in minutes-"

You laughed, cutting her words short, "I'm okay, Kate. Really. I'll live, apparently...what's going on? Where's Alex?"

"We, uh, we ran into some complications..." she sighed, and your face dropped, heart starting to beat louder, "Captain Price and Sergeant Garrick went in to help extract the Wolf, but they were ambushed by the Butcher. On their recapture, we found out it was Hadir that stole the gas that night in Verdansk."

"Wait, what? Hadir, Farah's brother?"

Laswell nodded, "Yes. And because of that, Colonel Norris put Farah and her forces on the National Terror Organisation list."

"He did what?! Laswell no, that's so fucking wrong! They're our allies! Alex won't stand for this you know he won't."

"I know. That's why he's stayed behind. He's gone back to Urzikstan to help them."

You felt hot with rage.

Not only did you feel like you let your team down, they were now branded terrorists, enemies of the state.

And what could you do?

Fucking nothing.

"I know what you're thinking, (Y/N). Don't." Laswell warned.

"They need me. I should be there! Not fucking strapped to this fucking bed-"

"Even if I wanted you out there, I can't. My hands are tied. You're off the mission, permanently. By order of Norris."

Tears sprung to your eyes, jaw dropping open, "What? I've never been removed from a mission in my life, Laswell. How is that fair?"

"I'm sorry honey, but you're out. I shouldn't even be speaking to you right now. You know how classified this mission is. I had to get special clearance to even allow Commander Graves to come and get you."

"This is bullshit, Laswell, and you know it." You sniffed, rubbing your eyes roughly. "I should be there, helping."

"You gotta rest, (Y/N)." Graves interrupted, his hand making soothing circles at the base of your spine.

"I'll see what I can do, but you're off, honey. I can't do anything." Laswell frowned, "I'm sorry. I just need you to focus on getting better. Can you do that?"

You thought for a moment, before nodding, "Just look after them, okay? I can't lose them."

The second Laswell ended the call, you let the tears flow freely.

You couldn't help it.

No one ever prepared you for the mental toll of war, of being a soldier. The things you'd seen kept you up at night, the things you'd felt and experiences haunted your every being.

And twice in three years, you'd been on the brink of death.

Before you knew it, you were lying down, sobbing into the chest of Phillip Graves, who held you tightly in his arms, placing soft kisses to your forehead. The nurse had tried to intervene, saying shit about your stitches, but Graves shooed her away quickly, pulling you close to him.

"S'gonna be alright, y'know? Chief Laswell is good at gettin' around things." He spoke once you'd calmed down.

"I know." You whispered back. "Just wish it wasn't like this. I feel useless."

"Sorry to interrupt," that voice came once more, "But visitin' is over, you need to let her have rest, Commander."

You lifted your head, lip quivering at the thought of spending one second alone, "He can't stay?"

The last thing you wanted was to be alone right now.

She sighed, throwing you a sympathetic look, "I'm sorry ma'am, I'm just not allowed-"

"I'm staying." Graves said, his words perhaps coming out harsher than he intended. "She can't be alone right now."

She didn't say any more, only nodding, and leaving the room with a look of disappointment and distain on her face.

"Think ya might've hurt her feelings." You said, "I reckon she likes you, Commander."

He smiled, a puff of air leaving his nose, "Not really my type."

"Pretty isn't your type?" You mused, looking up at him.

"Not that kind of pretty," He shrugged, "Besides, not moved from your side in three days, so not startin' now."

Knowing he'd sat by your bedside caused a warm feeling to bubble inside you.

Snuggling down into the covers, Graves shifted, allowing you to lie flat, as he turned on his side to face you. One of his hands rested under your head, the other holding one of yours.

And before you allowed sleep to take you once more, you whispered, "Thank you."

Graves said nothing, only bringing your knuckles to his lips and placing a soft kiss, lulling you into the darkness with one thought;

You were alive.
