luckily the wyrmslayer was pretty impressed with this moth's. um. show of courage. little extra of the momths (mom moths) under read-more :]

first panel: chall looks determined and angry, bracing herself, her wings blowing in an invisible wind. without looking she tosses her glasses over her shoulder as she says, "hold my glasses, I gotta show them who's boss." in the background, phoros easily catches them and says, "I got yo glasses boo."

second panel: chall starts squaring up against the wyrmslayer, fur bristling and wings opened in intimidation. chall is easily only half of the wyrmslayer's size and yet still she shouts, "alright buddy let's GO." phoros looks on with complete full confidence in chall. the wyrmslayer leans away from chall slightly, and while they do not look scared whatsoever they do seem a little surprised. vermel, perched on the wyrmslayer's back, just cocks her head curiously at chall. end id]

Some quick characters ref's for a animation I'm working on about a small story following this strange Plant shape within Paradise who woke up in a cave and the events they and their new friends go through that's set within the same timeframe as the events in 'Second Chance'!

OCs: Alba, White imposter/Vermel, Red crewmate

“You’re adorable. I should’ve eaten you sooner” the white haired astronaut purred, bringing the smaller brunette closer to their face, relishing in the way the smaller crewmate’s eyes widened at their words

“Alba, please! I promise I won’t--mmph?!” Vermel whimpered as a multitude of tongues wrapped around him and dragged him into the impostor’s maw, writhing to no avail as the multitude of muscles poked and prodded at him, he clung to them for dear life as he was thrown around Alba’s maw

Vermel wriggled free from the alien muscles eventually, his heart fluttering like a caged bird in his chest as he attempted to pry the lips that had sealed around him open, he’d succeeded until…

A clawed hand appeared in his view, pressing against his forehead lightly before pushing him back inside the damp darkness, slimy muscles coiling around him and pinning him in place

And Alba was—was purring, all around him. Fear had wormed its way into his heart, he was going to die, and all because he’d made the mistake of discovering that White, was in fact, the impostor

His surroundings tilted backwards, and with a soft glk, he was pitched backwards into the darkness, the throat muscles were suffocating, he could hardly breathe as they pushed him further within the impostor. He’d been too overcome with fear to truly feel how gentle Alba was being

Clumsy, wriggly little crewmate doesn’t realize how snug and safe he’ll be in my belly, tragic

Alba’s purring grew louder at the thought that they’d eventually have a squirmy, fearful crewmate tucked away within them

Vermel, on the other hand, believed that the darkness all around him marked his demise, he was going to die in the confines of the impostor’s belly, because he’d made a mistake, he’d fucked up

His heart fell into his stomach as the gullet felt larger, spacier, and he slid within his destination with ease, Vermel fumbled for his flashlight in the darkness of the gut, but it wasn’t…

Wasn’t on him

Shit

The walls seemed to cave in briefly, and Vermel could feel a hand pressed up against him “You fought well, lil crewmate. Sad it didn’t last long, though” the impostor’s voice made his chest buzz, and he flinched, pushing against the soft interior of the stomach with force, to give the alien all around him some form of discomfort

Alba rumbled at how full the tiny, squirmy red crewmate made them feel. They had no intentions of harming the small man within their gut, the perfect, wriggly bundle of a snack he was, but, by the stars were they going to enjoy Vermel

Swiping the taste of cherry (which they’d quietly ascribed to the small, red crewmate) off of their lips, they placed a hand over their abdomen protectively, sinking down against the wall, sated purrs rolling through their chest like thunder

The other impostor now knew, that one slip up, and they’d be devoured

It’s about time this subplot came around! Jin’s finally face-to-face with the person she thought she’d lost forever; Ninety-Nine (or as we’ll come to know her; Peach Vermell)

Plus we get some volcanic & gravity dust action from the Jinfinity Gauntlets which is always nice!

Zydra and her team are basically what I learned from the Arc 3 cowboys and did right this time - she actually has narrative relevance, her story reflecting Team RAIN’s in arc 1. Just as Irving was tricked, so was she - and that empathy is what teaches Irving to let go of his black-and-white morality and forgive her because she was manipulated.

Also, Irving and Nyssa make out, so that’s a plus!
