This entrepreneur uses ofada rice to change the narrative of food business in Ibadan.

Do you know what ofada rice is? By now, if you have been reading my posts, you would know that I love food. There are certain foods that are seen as occasional foods either because of their cost or mode of preparation. Until recently, with the advent of poundo yam, pounded yam used to be an occasional delicacy. There's one food which hasn't changed though, it's the famous ofada rice. There are different interpretations on the history of ofada rice, but one fact remains that ofada rice is a delicacy to enjoy at special occasions.

Today on #TheInspiredDream, we have an Entrepreneur whose work is to make the delicacy of ofada rice available for eating when you want it. Her name is Aanuoluwapo Aregbesola, she is the CEO of Loyin's kitchen. Let's meet her. "My name is Aanuoluwapo Aregbesola, a graduate of Geography Department, University of Ibadan. I'm owner of Loyin's Kitchen which I started last year (2017) in January. The business existed for five months (May), but I had to close it temporarily because I had to go for youth service. I served in a village in Edo state, so Loyin's kitchen couldn't survive there."

Loyin's Kitchen is one among many Nigerian startup organisations who are ensuring that Nigerians not only satisfy their hunger, but also get high quality delicacies at an affordable amount and is based in Ibadan, the largest city in Nigeria in terms of land space with a close proximity to Lagos, Ogun, Osun, Ondo, Ekiti and even Kwara states. According to Aanuoluwa, she started Loyin's Kitchen by making only moinmoin, a local Nigerian delicacy made from ground beans. She supplied offices and organisations in Ibadan where she operates her business from.

Upon completion of her one year mandatory national youth service corps for Nigerian graduates, she decided to revive the business this Month of May, 2018 with a unique product that keeps people coming back for more. Loyin's kitchen now makes ofada rice,  a Nigerian delicacy made from local rice and sauce which she delivers to schools and organisations around Ibadan. Just like every startup business with big dreams, Loyin's kitchen has a goal of becoming an international restaurant where African delicacies would be served. Let's talk about her Ofada Rice Delicacy, why is it so special? "My ofada is neatly packaged, leafed, the sauce is nutritious, has the orisirisi (varieties of meats) in it, and then the package is bam too. The sauce is garnished with smoked fish, ponmo (cow skin), locust beans, crayfish, and assorted meat. It's indeed a musst have for any lover of food.

Who is Aanuoluwapo, the founder of Loyin's Kitchen? According to Aanuoluwapo, "Cooking is a passion for me, it is what I love doing, Loyin is here to stay. I'm from a family of 6, 2nd position, dad is late. So basically, I was brought up by my mum, it's been more than 10years. I attended Sacred Heart School, for my primary education and St Louis Grammar school and Oladipo Alayande School of Science for my secondary education and ofcourse the great University of Ibadan for my university education." The 23 year old entrepreneur is very optimistic of her business.

When she's not busy with work at Loyin's kitchen, Aanuoluwa is probably playing phone games, seeing a movie or having a worthwhile conversation with someone. Aanuoluwapo has these inspiring words to say to young people out there who still have a dream to fulfil: "Determination and consistency are key to success in any endeavour. If you're willing to do and you're determined, then step out and do. There's no such thing as 'too little to start' or 'too small to start'. Always remember there are days of little beginnings The ones we look up to also started small." You heard her right, there's nothing as too little to start or too small to start.
