Barely a day after former President Donald Trump was indicted for the third time, some Senate Republicans are already trying to undermine the credibility of the federal judge who was randomly assigned to preside over his trial.
Here’s a detail they’re hoping you won’t notice: They unanimously voted to confirm her.
Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas), speaking on his podcast on Wednesday, accused U.S. District Judge Tanya Chutkan of being “relentlessly hostile” to Trump and claimed that she has “a reputation for being far-left, even by D.C. District Court standards.”
But Cruz voted to put Chutkan into her seat on the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia in June 2014. So did every other Senate Republican when she was unanimously confirmed, 95-0.
That includes Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.), who nonsensically claimed Wednesday that “any conviction in D.C. against Donald Trump is not legitimate.”
“The judge in this case hates Trump,” Graham said in a Fox News interview. “You can convict Trump of kidnapping Lindbergh’s baby in D.C. You need to have a change of venue. We need a new judge. And we need to win in 2024 to stop this crazy crap.”
Aides to Cruz and Graham did not respond to requests for comment on how the senators square their votes to confirm Chutkan with their criticisms of her ability to be a fair judge.
Tuesday’s federal indictment of Trump accuses him of serious crimes related to the 2020 presidential election and the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol insurrection: conspiracy to defraud the United States, conspiracy to obstruct an official proceeding, obstruction of and attempt to obstruct an official proceeding, and conspiracy against rights.
Chutkan, a Jamaica-born former assistant public defender and an appointee of former President Barack Obama, has already been overseeing cases related to the Jan. 6 attack. She’s handed out some of the most aggressive sentences yet to rioters who took part in the violence that day. Of the 11 cases that have come before her, she imposed tougher sentences than those sought by the Justice Department seven times and matched what the Justice Department was seeking four times, according to an Associated Press review.
In all 11 cases, Chutkan sentenced the defendants to prison time.
This is what is likely driving the GOP attacks on Chutkan: They know she’s not likely to go easy on Trump now.
Beyond trying to discredit the judge, some Republicans, like Graham, are parroting Trump’s absurd demand for a change of venue. The former president has called for moving his case to the “more diverse” and “politically unbiased nearby State of West Virginia!” (Virginia and Maryland are much closer to D.C., for what it’s worth.)
Not a single Republican raised concerns about Chutkan during her nomination hearing in the Senate Judiciary Committee in February 2014. In fact, only one GOP member of the committee even showed up to the hearing: Sen. John Cornyn (Texas), who was only there to rave about a separate Texas judicial nominee on the schedule. He left before Chutkan was up.
Cruz and Graham were both members of the committee at the time.
Neither attended Chutkan’s hearing.

Transcript:
Phoenix arrives home exhausted after a long day. He can’t wait to slide into bed next to Dawn. It seems impossible to sync up their schedules lately, and he’s missing her a lot.
When he walks into the living room, he’s surprised to find her asleep on the couch.
He crouches down and strokes her hair, feeling almost guilty for waking her.
Phoenix: Hi. Dawn: You’re home. Phoenix: Yep. You must’ve been tired, you’re still in your work clothes. Dawn: So tired.
He stands to help her up, but she doesn’t move, doesn’t even open her eyes. Phoenix: Do you want to come to bed? Dawn: Mhm. I’ll be there in… in just a minute. Phoenix: [unconvinced] Right.
---
The two of them wake up the next morning on the couch, still in their clothes from the day before, and wrapped in each other’s arms. Their alarm is beeping faintly from the bedroom down the hall.
Phoenix squeezes Dawn tight before forcing himself to sit up.
Phoenix: Good morning. Dawn: G’morning. When did you get home? Phoenix: Around eleven. I tried to wake you. Dawn: I know. I was so tired, I couldn’t move. Thanks for staying with me. Phoenix: Of course. It feels like sleeping is the only thing we do together these days. I wasn’t going to miss it.
Dawn: Ough, I know, we need a vacation. Phoenix:  We do. Where should we go? Dawn:  Hmm, somewhere tropical. I want to drink cocktails on the beach and swim with dolphins. Phoenix: Oh, that’s different. Dawn: I know. I know you prefer the snow, but— Phoenix: No, let’s do it.
Dawn: Really? Phoenix: Yes, really. It’ll be fun to go somewhere new. And if you have to walk around in your bikini the whole time, then so be it. Dawn: I see. You have ulterior motives. Phoenix: Definitely.
Phoenix kisses her then, softly but in a way that makes it clear just what those motives are.
Unfortunately, the alarm is still beeping in the other room, reminding them that there’s another busy day ahead of them. They both sigh and look at each other, wishing they could soak in this rare moment together a little longer… maybe they can.
Dawn: I’ll go shut off the alarm. Will you put on a pot of coffee? Phoenix: Yep. When do you have to leave? Dawn: About an hour. How quick do you think we can get ready? Phoenix: Thirty minutes? Dawn: Ooh, ambitious.
---
Phoenix: So, when should we do it? Dawn: Do what? Phoenix: Take a vacation.
Dawn: You tell me. You have that look. Phoenix: What look? Dawn: That I’m-asking-a-question-so-I-can-give-you-the-answer look. Phoenix: I don’t do that. Dawn: So, you haven’t already come up with a plan?
Phoenix: Okay, maybe I do that. Dawn: Mhm. So, when should we do it? Phoenix: How about August? It’s far enough in advance to plan, and it’s the last chance I’ll have before things get crazy in the fall.
Dawn: And just in time for our anniversary. Phoenix: [feigning surprise] Is it? Dawn: That sounds perfect. I have to get going though, so we’ll have to figure out the rest later.
Phoenix: What time will you be home tonight? Dawn: Six. Seven, at the latest. Will you be here? Phoenix:  I’ll try to be. Dawn: Okay. I love you. Phoenix: I love you too.

the most difficult part about moving primary socials is the weird period of time when u have to train the new algo to feed you what you wanna see, so it’s a long while of just bleghhh till i have enough artists in my following to actually see what i wanna, which is big gay dragons mostly

Important things I’ve learned about the new tumblr polls so far (which are NOT mentioned in the official announcement post):
Once you’ve voted you can’t change it and you can only vote once.
You can only view poll results on the dashboard or in blogview. The buttons are still displayed on custom blog layouts, but if you try to click on them it will automatically take you to blogview.
Responses are completely anonymous. Neither the poll creator nor the respondents can see who voted or what they voted for. The only visible metric is the total number of votes.
Votes don’t show up on your activity feed so you have to go find the poll on your blog if you want to see the results or know if people are even voting.
You can’t view the results of your own poll without participating (clicking on one of the answer choices yourself).
You can’t edit a poll post once you publish it, you can only delete it! I assume this lasts until the poll has timed out, which will either be in a week or a day depending on what you picked This is permanent, so you better hope you got all of your tags and answer choices correct before you publish! This also means you can’t change your poll duration later either.
UPDATE (Jan 22, 2023):
You can send individual polls to someone as a submission, which the recipient can then edit and customize before publishing, but this will NOT give that person the ability to create new polls on their own.
Polls have a maximum of 10 answer choices and each answer choice is limited to 80 characters.
Polls can’t be added to reblogs, only original posts. Additionally, only one poll is allowed per post.
You can add a poll to a previously published original post (that doesn’t have one already), but as soon as it’s published again all editing will be disabled. Also, the poll time limit starts from the original post date, so if you add a poll to a post older than your set time limit, the poll will automatically show up as completed with zero votes.
If you aren't sure if you have the ability to create polls, check this guide. As of right now, according to my current poll, only about 10-15% of users have this feature.
For more detailed info about polls and other currently known bugs and exploits, check out gotinterest’s polls masterpost.

Hello, I saw in your translation for shuros proposal that you said savaralyn was a racist and since I've reblogged from them before do you have the source for that? I've tried to find info about it myself but can't seem to find anything
No problem!! The call out post is pretty outdated + Savaralyn is possibly the most active and consistent dunmeshi blog around, so I totally understand how things get buried. This post had a whole page with the evidence, but the carrd in it has since been taken down.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I've actually been meaning to ask if @putite (a different Mimi, coincidentally) has any intentions of restoring it, since there are a lot more than these images embedded in the post.
Some of stuff I found:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
screenshot dated Jan 18 2024 | wayback machine link for the second one
I learnt about this back in January of 2024 and just basing on those evidence alone (the call out post dates back 2021), I would've gave them the benefit of doubt and assume they could have changed since the Trump-era. But then I delved into their twitter and there are some pretty atrocious likes in there, on subjects of anti-aboriginal or tweets complaining about "wokeness". Multiple tweets are colored red because I have Shinigami Eyes turned on.
Tumblr media
Unfortunately I saved very few screenshots about the whole investigation and as of Feburary 10 2024 the whole account has been nuked and remade, focusing on Dungeon Meshi posting entirely.
I understand if you don't find it compelling enough to come to any conclusion, since most of these seems pretty shoddy.
So what's the take away from all this?? Honestly, Savaralyn's translation has been a cornerstone in the dunmeshi fandom that it'd be impossible to cut clean because of differences in political beliefs.
One thing I'll say in their favor is that Sava never include any of their ideologies in the translations, but it should be made clear for people who do not want to support trump/alt-right content creators.
I personally choose to not support them and skip the middle man straight to Sava's source, or buying the official books when they come out. I'm probably going to keep making some of my own translation from chinese into english and post them under #translations, but to prevent spreading misinformation or mistranslation I'm probably going to only keep them unrebloggable.
