Only Friends is more proof that I am extremely predictable because Ray called himself a burden and said he wasn't important and then turned into a total brat and I was instantly smitten. That's all it takes. Give me my spoiled little meow meow who snuggles into shoulders before digging in claws and then wandering back into the living room like it never happened, one that bites the hand that feeds and then purrs a moment later because once it's happened it's over and I am all over it.

Alright so, master manipulator Mew definitely seems like from what we've seen. He's smart, he's aware, he's confident, he's perfectly happy telling people what he needs them to do and it's obvious that his friends are used to listening to him, even the one who don't seem like they would be. He's careful and I suspect he's a lot more calculated then anyone expects him to be.

He knows who is and what he wants and how he's going to get it... and it's fairly obvious that a relationship with Top is his current goal. But why.

Why does he want something from Top? It's obvious that he's been inviting him to join them and talking ti him, supporting and reacting to all his efforts at wooing but never reacting enough to actually give him a solid yes or no. He's carefully winding Top around his finger while Boston and Ray absolutely seethe.

Now, this is where I run into the question of his manipulations which is... how aware is he, not of Ray's crush because that's obvious, but of how much Boston is bothered by Top's change in pursuing him?

Look, Mew is absolutely using Ray's crush (and crushingly low self-esteem) to support his work in university and to keep the friend group together (how many of their drinks do you think Ray covers when they're together, how much does he support everyone around him having a good time so they stay with him?)?

I'm sure they are also friends but how much of their friendship has become Mew taking advantage of Ray's feelings for him while Ray falls apart and drinks more and just tries to hold himself together with the crush on his best friend?

... All this speculation on a few moments and throwaway lines and crossed fingers in a promo shot.

But also because Mew feels like he knows more than he shows. Like his confidence comes from an understanding that he has that no one else around him has.

And also, at least partially, because my dreams are of the virgin character being the one with the most manipulation, the most ability to use people, for the character who isn't fucking anyone to be the one fucking over the most people. I'm tired of virginal angels, I want the virgin devil who takes you down by your cock but never actually touches it because that's not the game.
