        morning washes over them both in a golden heat, seeping in through cracks in the curtains. as always, she’s woken up first, stalked her way off to get herself a coffee ( and pastries to share, sitting on the little wooden table between them ). the coffee is pure piss and the world is already warming beneath two suns, but she drinks it anyway, appreciates the way it feels sliding down her throat. she isn’t tired - hasn’t needed proper sleep in eternity - but there is still a strange grogginess attached to sleeping alone and restless, a leftover boredom. she feels like she’s been waiting forever for vash to wake up.

         and eventually, he does, stumbling in with beautifully sleepy eyes. they do not speak, not at first - mutual lethargy guiding him to sit beside her. she does not know if that confession had been mulled over in his head, considered carefully before it reached his lips - or if exhaustion guides his thoughts to forgo their travel through a filter before reaching his lips. either way, once they are out, they hang heavily in the air in the moments before she responds.

        jezebel takes a deep sip of her coffee, smile playing at her pink mouth, trying to calm her own girlish excitement - like some silly little thing with a crush. she cannot let him see her in such a state, uses the coffee to quell herself before she sets her feline gaze onto his nervous face.
