[some complaining + kinda spoilers for Feferi’s route in Pesterquest]
Welp, I finally sat down to finish some Pesterquest routes after like 612 years, so I’m late to the party as usual, but anyway, Feferi’s route.
Not gonna lie, I was kinda... disappointed, especially with how well it started, like at first my only complaint was that she was a bit overusing her glubs/bulbs - she uses them a lot, but not that much, but oh well, whatever, quirks are confusing.
But I really liked how it touched on her loneliness, the whole “being the only fuchsia other than the Empress herself”, her being so excited when she hears that MSPA Reader tried to find her, and then going so sad when the Reader tells her that not really. Just, ouch. And how she shared her ambitions with us - a bit quickly, but it was, indeed, quite Feferi-like, girl, you don’t share your revolutionary ideas with anyone who zaps in front of you, i love her - but then things went just... weird. Like, plainly weird. Like the writer either had no idea what to do with her or just wasn’t taking any of this seriously. Or, I don’t know. I genuinely don’t know. It was just so bizarre with “Karako” and Dark Carnival, and, Jesus, that was just really, really weird.
Dunno, we could’ve talked about her unhealthy moirallegiance with Eridan, or make her realize her own hypocrisy after finding out her plans to redefine culling, since they’re actually pretty bad. But, nah.
It’s like some of these routes are being taken seriously, and some of them aren’t, which is a shame, cuz characters like Feferi weren’t given all that much focus in the webcomic, so it was probably her only shot at letting readers who weren’t all that interested in her get to understand her a bit better.

"So you see basically after Hiveswap act 1 released they ran into more money problems, so they basically made Hiveswap: Friendsim as a stealth way to finance the release of act 2- well not so stealth anyone could see that's what they were doing but whatever. Then they made Pesterquest with all the recognizable characters and stuff, it was a sequel to Friendsim right, but the problem is Fellow Traveller really mistreated the projects. So for both Friendsim and Pesterquest the writers signed off their writing for like 200 bucks or something and now they're re-releasing to console even though a bunch of shit for the original releases never got fixed! That's capitalism for you. Anyway the real problem is when act 2 came out a bunch of content still had to be cut, and now people had weird unrealistic standards for what the Friendsim characters would be like in-game, let me tell you it was a whole thing. Oh I haven't even mentioned the ties between Pesterquest and Homestuck 2 and how people were mad at it just for that even though Pesterquest really has a lot of other issues-"

Davesprite and Terezi Pyrope have a shockingly low Ryu number of 2, due to their appearance in Namco High alongside Pac-Man, and Pac’s appearance in Super Smash Bros for the Wii U/ 3DS. I’m not sure if a interactable poster of the character in the background counts in your rules, but if it does, this means Bubsy the Bobcat has a Ryu Number of 5. Going from the Bubsy poster in Hiveswap, to Zebruh Codakk who is both in Hiveswap and Hiveswap Friendsim(separate games), to “MSPA Reader”(who is a character in and of themselves), the player character both in Friendsim and Pesterquest, to Terezi in Pesterquest and Namco High, to Pac-Man in Smash Bros.
It does not.
Bubsy does not have has a Ryu Number of 2.
(CORRECTION: Per @jakethesequel, Bubsy in Fractured Furry Tales gives him a Ryu Number of 2.)
(bonus below)
At some point, it was a Kickstarter stretch goal to add CommanderVideo from BIT.TRIP as a playable character in Bubsy: Paws on Fire!, which would have given Bubsy a Ryu Number. A stretch goal of...
Hm. Seems a bit ambitious to me, but far be it from me to make any claim about the cost of video game development. Hell, I'd even buy that this is just a fraction of the true development cost and the $75,000 dollars is more of an interest check than anything else.
On that note, how much did that Kickstarter—
Oh.
I mean this completely unironically: you hate to see it.
