I promised I would give an update, so here we go.

Holy shit okay, 17 hours was absolutely not what I have expected. When I read apocalyptic AUs, they are usually set years after the Tragic Thing™ happens and I'm just thrown into this destroyed world, where everyone distrusts everyone and it's, you know, normal, because it allows them to survive.

But what you did here, oh boy. You captured the world on the brink of its collapse, people still filled with this sort of innocence and pure fear, cause here is their world, all they have, literally being wiped clean. I have to say, it hit HARD. When you read about these things, you realise the tragedy of it all. The survivor guilt that must have plagued Wilbur's and Tommy's mind after getting to the bunker, my God, I cannot even fathom. And I loved the two perspectives idea, it was really cool to see what was happening during the same hours with both parties. And the juxtaposition of Wilbur's distrust (oh the tragedy) and then Phil's compassion and how it screwed with them in different ways, broke them down piece by piece.

If you ever plan on writing something more set in a post apo world, please do. I absolutely loved '17 hours', as conflicting and gut-wrenching as it is.

yeah!! 17 hours was a fun experiment because it was set right when the world went to shit! you don't see those stories as often and I think they're really interesting in their own right.

yessss you understand the juxtaposition we were going for with wilbur's fear and phil's compassion for others. father vs son. thank you for the kind words, I'm so glad it hit hard. it definitely hit me hard to write, and I'm sure parts of it hit roxy too. I'm so happy you enjoyed the dual perspective!! it was such a fun way to go about writing a fic, and I definitely want to collab with roxy again in the future using a similar setup because it was just so much fun for both of us.

I've definitely tried writing post apocalyptic aus before, I just have yet to find a plot in one I can really latch onto. I'm still trying though! I love post apocalyptic type stuff so I really hope I can come up with a plot for one soon. until then though, we just have 17 hours which I'm pretty fine with considering how much I love it as a story

"Hoo boy, are you sure you want to know this? It's pretty wild! Ahahaha. Okay, here goes! So, I had a dream that... my daughter was talking. I know! Wild! But that's not the wildest thing. The wildest thing is that she was talking and we were walking around outside, and there were, you know, the zombies and all, but the zombies were strangely enough leaving us alone. Things were fine. They didn't seem to want anything to do with us, which was good, because my daughter was there and if they tried anything I'd quite frankly bite them first - not that they are the biting kind of zombie, they actually stab people, but whatever, same thing."

"Anyway, Mae and I were walking and she was talking but I can't remember what we were talking about, when all a sudden one of the sky ads starts playing, which is annoying because I thought we had gotten rid of all them. But one starts playing anyway, and it starts talking about how it's going to rain soon and I'm like, 'AUGH no! We didn't bring an umbrella! We're gonna get all wet!' And Mae, in her little girl voice, tells me, 'Don't worry! We'll just run into one of the buildings and it'll be okay!' And you know what? She's right, there are a lot of buildings around here so it would be okay, that ad was stupid to just come up there in the sky and talk about rain and get us all worried over nothing."

"Well sure enough, of course, like it happens in dreams, it does start raining, so we run around trying to find a building and it turns out to be some gas station, and for some reason as soon as we go in there everything starts getting weird. My mom is in there and she's sick the way I last remember her, there are filthy toilets everywhere that have no stalls for privacy, for some reason I'm suddenly missing my pants, Mae has gone missing and I start to panic trying to find her, and then suddenly the gas station is no longer a gas station but a high school. Not my high school, but just, a high school, and I can't find my locker, and when I do find my locker I can't remember the combination, and everyone's a stranger and they know where they're going, and I still can't find Mae, and I've lost track of my mother, and where the hell are my pants? Everything is out of control. It's just straight up panic."

"And then I wake up, and thank god my daughter is just right there because that was some fucked up shit and this is why we stay up all night, right? Ahahaha."

13. What’s your ideal summer aesthetic?

"Ummmm, well, to be honest, I don't have one, hahaha, it's just clothes I wear any other day! Pants, shirt, hoodie, shoes. Whatever's lying around on the floor that still looks and smells clean, hehe."

"Anything that's not over 75 degrees. Seriously, I hate summer. Screw anything that's hotter than 75 degrees. Well, I mean, except for like, your body temperature. I just hate summer heat. So I guess, aesthetic-wise? Umm... Oh! Slushies! Nice, cold, refreshing slushies. Those are delicious and cool you down and don't feel gross in your stomach like ice cream does on a hot day. Also, fans. Not like the kind that adore you, but the kind that blow air on you and cool you down. Although to be honest, I love fans 365 days a year, so kind of a moot point with me. Let's see what else for summer aesthetics. Hmmmmmmmmm......... Really scraping the bottom of the barrel here for this question. See, as an adult you don't get cool things like 'summer break', so it's kinda pointless, ahahahaha. And I think summer images like beaches and sandals and palm trees are, well, they aren't my thing. And there aren't a lot of thunderstorms during the summer where I'm from, so... I guess that's it? Slushies and fans. Those are my aesthetic. Oh, and nothing over 75 degrees."

Arriving to Japan; First Stop, Yokohoma!

After the battle and events between NYC fractions and Japanese pro-heroes. The NYC fractions who was using their quirks to help which is breaking the law and pro-heroes who sought to try to bring order and relief to the disaster which end up causing a rift between them which results in a major battle called It is labeled Battle of Order and Chaos. 

The event was called The Yuu Rally when everyone in NYC were rallying and show their unwavering support for a Japanese ex-student who helped one of the fractions the DBT took down Iron Titan and held off the Japanese pro-heroes are trying to arrest her for being a vigilante and broke the law despite the circumstances that NYC was under. 

It seems like it end on a good note but it wasn’t over.  Yuuka was still taken to the Japan to get a fair trial since the two heroes; Eraserhead and Endeavor saw that NYC rallied behind her live when they see that she gives herself up and Oblivion The Raging Voltage gave a speech that encourage NYC to cheer for her. NYC fractions and the citizens wanted her here in NYC after the Iron Titan Incident. 

Maybe...Japan and its courts will see the evidence from the Iron Titan Incident and everything that lead up to the arrest in Yuuka’s case including the rally. However....while the DBT did agreed to Eraserhead that Yuuka will be safe under his watch. They decided to go to Japan themselves without anyone knowing. 

Well...except for NYC fractions who knew about it as Ink told them in a secret virtual meeting. The DBT are of course impatient but it wasn’t the only factor. Oblivion said that she doesn’t trust Japanese courts and such so she wanted to go to her home country even if she doesn’t like going back there. Just in case if something goes. The team agreed.  

And so....the DBT hitch a ride by having Jaron convinced a private jet pilot, its crew and company to take the entire team to Japan and their first stop, Yokohoma unnoticed. It was paid thanks to Fosh wiring a money transfer to the crew. On their way here, it is revealed Oblivion used to live there.

“Can’t believe we’re here!” Ink grinned. “Woah! I think I see Ferris Wheel! This place looks cool”

“Uh-huh. Anyway....me and Fosh booked us some hotel rooms near here so let’s get going.” She said as she leads the way. 

What sort of misadventures would the DBT get themselves into? What kind of city is Yokohoma?

If this Bruce doesn't adopt Tim I will! But I'm kinda scared for Tim I mean he's either gonna end up with Buce or the titans at some point, im afraid that something terrible is gonna happen his family and then titans/bruce takes him in? That boy loves batman and robin so much like even his family seeing the news knew how much it would upset him although I will say that for the brain that kid has he makes some pretty stupid decisions, hes driving around GOTHAM plastered in the bat-symbol that's not a good idea! the amount of lunatics that roam free in Gotham (and possibly have escaped from arkham) and hate the bat and hes driving around with the bat symbol on him KID be careful!

Some kind of Anti-fear toxin does seem more accurate cuz he's clearly taking something to not be afraid. Maybe it's something he found in Gotham and decided to try it and got addicted so he's using that lab place to try recreate it? and maybe he can't recreate it perfectly cuz in the crowbarring scene he seemed kinda anxious about his surroundings and he'd just taken that inhaler thing to overcome fear so I dunno?? Or maybe he went to arkham to see Crane for some reason and Crane has orchestrated the whole thing and told him about the drug but then wouldn't Crane have to know everyone's identity then? Dude I dunno I need more episodes even tho the low quality glitchyness is painful lol

There's probably an abundance of rooms to choose from at Wayne manor yet Jason takes Dicks old room and keeps the flying graysons posters up! I like to think that he does view dick as an older brother and just took his room to kind of have a connection to him and that he admires him hence the graysons posters being left up, yooo dick calling him his brother! I really want a nice family reunion with dick jason and bruce 💕

Babs was too mean to bruce when she went off like I get where she's coming from but yo lady his son just died dial it down like a notch yikes but also babs being like 'i wonder how long it'll take for bruce to replace jason and dick is all 'what no the last thing bruce is gonna do is rope another kid into this mess'. Cut to scene of Bruces potential robin folder 😅 but I also like that dick was trying to be considerate and compose himself for bruce but once he found out that bruce is idiot enough to pull another kid into this, that that's when he got mad and bruce so brokenly begging dick to come back and be robin 😢😢😢

I know the show is constantly trying to push bruce out/sideline him cuz it's a titans show not a bruce wayne show and I know they're going for a different portrayal of bruce which I'm not complaining about I do like this version of bruce (more than I thought actually) and this universe but I feel like they could have gave more cracks you know, I like that they showed him trying to avoid the reality of jasons death and just not stopping not even for a second and just immediately jump into another case and that breakdown verge where he's begging dick to be robin and then when he finally I guess let's the weight of jasons loss sit on him to the point where he whacks in jokers head with a crowbar just like he killed jason (he could have killed joker so many other ways like a less violent bullet to the head but oh no brucey crowbars him to death!!)

There's a lot of character stuff that i do like but that scene where he's in the cave on his knees scrubbing his sons blood out of the suit he died in, the suit that he only ever wore because of batman. 😢 I feel like they could have had him crack there and let out a gut wrenching scream and then just continue on doing what he was doing as if nothing happened and dick walking in on that should have had more of a reaction!? like he could have stopped in his tracks at the sight of his brothers blood all over his father and bruce screaming, dick could have like took a step back almost like he's gonna run but forces himself to stay there, because who wouldn't want to run from that and no matter how much horrible things you've dealt with before sometimes your brain does just take over against your will and makes you react, the rest of the scene just could have played out the way it did. Literally one ounce more emotion is all I wanted.

No one really emotionally cracked at jasons death. I get that it just happened and that people put walls up and denial can be such a prominent thing when a loved one dies but it couldn't have been that difficult to put in little mannerisms now and again to show that everyone is deeply hurt but holding it in. Honestly gar seemed more hurt to me than dick did. But I do like that dick reacted in detective mode and started trying to figure things out from jasons side so at least there's that.

This redhood is defo not an anti hero he has well and truly landslided into villian territory and I dunno how that's gonna be reconciled? they better not kill him off! and they better not just straight up keep redhood/jason as a full on villian! but if they do get through to jason and bring him back a little how the heck is that little man gonna deal with what he did to Hank?? I feel like they had a bond you know and for all Hanks talk about putting Jason down I really don't think that Hank would actually have killed him even if it came down to Hanks life vs Jasons I think Hank would rather die than kill Jason (but that's heavily biased cuz in my mind jason is my son and I freaking love hank sooo) but Hank to me puts on a hard front like 'yeah I'll get in your face I'll come at you b*tch' but internally he's like 'yeah I'll come at you to help you' 😅 like internally he defo has a lot of soft spots though that's not to say he'd be like this for someone like the joker or scarecrow or whatever guys like that he'd be like no screw you you die or go to arkham like byeee

Random side note here but imagine Jasons first time in the batcave he would be so excited and trying to mess with everything and being like ohh what's that do and pressing random buttons and bruce having a hernia trying to get jason to stop before he accidentally blows the cave up 😅 also he has probably been caught several times trying to 'borrow' the batmobile, I can just picture him trying to sneak down the halls of the manor without the floor creaking and making it all the way into the cave and doing a victory dance cuz he didn't get caught and he hops on into the batmobile in his pj's and let's out a scream cuz alfred is sitting in the freakin passenger seat waiting for him and then they just hang out in the batmobile alfred had the good foresight to bring a flask of tea books and a blanket for jason

Speaking of Alfred I think it would have been more angsty and hurtful if Alfred died shortly after Jason and after a few days Jason claws his way out his grave and the first thing he sees is Alfreds headstone and that's how he finds out Alfred died : (((

Oh crap, you right about probably something bad will happen to Tim for Bruce or Titans to take him in, I was gonna say he could just demand to be in their lives to save Bruce/Dick like in the comics but he also has kinda shitty parents normally and these people seem cool so really it could go either direction, but like it’s Titans so it doesn’t look good lol. I was also rewatching and that gas he takes def has to be some anti fear toxin cause he mentions fear so many times and flash backed to his near death fall, which he felt was probably holding him and back and thus had to prove himself and adds to whatever is influencing him. But ohhh he did seem pretty dang anxious at the carnival grounds, that’s a really interesting theory but recreating something he found hmm, I can see that.

Apparently according to a YouTube who got to see the first 5 episodes, we find out what his deal is a lot more in episode 5, so one more week hopefully

Brooo trueee, I couldn’t believe jason took dick’s room and like didn’t even change anything. Like Jason looks or at least use to look up to Dick SO much, like in his first episode in the first season, he went on quite a lot about how much he had always wanted to meet him and how much he looked up to him, which is probably also fueling his red hood rage, being hurt by your idol and brother like he did in S2 must have really just killed the boy. But yes omg, there freaking better be a dang family reunion scene like, after so much angst we deserve that 😭

And yesss, I loved seeing how mature Dick is getting and just how much he is growing as a character, the fact he was so calm and considerate with Bruce at first really shows that compared to s1 Dick, only breaking when Bruce tried to get more kids involved. That scene by Brenton was sooo well acted omg, the way he yelled that he doesn’t want to robin again, heartbreaking man. And Bruce begging like that omg

Yeah, this version of Bruce is def so different than any Bruce we have seen on screen before, like def the most emotionally constipated, and that’s saying something xD But I like how they are taking a risk, it also helps Dick’s character more and give him more of an arc, as he seems to be taking on Bruce’s normal role with Jason and red hood. Bro, you are so right omg, like the fact Bruce could have killed the joker in any way and he does it with the dang crowbar. It really shows how broken he really was and why the man shouldn’t depressing any and every damn feeling and emotion lol.

Yeah, I do wish someone cracked (other than Bruce lmao) a bit more, but I do think each character reacted in character though, like it is very Dick(at least this version of Dick, other versions may break down tbh) to put everything into solving the case and figuring out what was up, that’s more this version’s way of caring than just breaking down, like he rarely ever has broken down completely. I think dawn could have been a little more emotional about the death (tho she has enough coming for her lmao). Connor didn’t know Jason that well so it makes sense he would just be sad. Gar seemed pretty sad and in character about it, maybe could have had a bit more, same with Kori, tho she showed it by being almost angry and fiercely protective of everyone else, so I think that makes sense for her. It would have been interesting to see how Rachel and Rose would have reacted though (where did rose go btw?! She would so have a reaction to Jason’s death). But yeah, i wish there was more resolution and break downs for Jason, but also it may have just not felt real since they weren’t there? But I agree

You think? Idk, I think they could def still make him an anti hero towards the end, especially if it’s crane behind the whole thing. Cause if they don’t they are gonna have to go down the gosh awful overused villain gets redeemed while he dies/only to die right freaking after , and I will be so freaking livid if they do that omg. Like they better freaking not. But true, he would be broken by what he did to Hank, oh yikes. But I can see him then that leading to the anti hero path, like he would never go back to be on the titans cause he would feel too guilty, thus giving more of a reason for the anti hero life. Well obviously Sora can't go 2 secs w/o a heart taking refuge inside his own. XD But honestly I'm totally behind the idea of Ephemer and/or even the Player also being inside Sora's heart. But instead of being there because they need him they're there because he needs their help. They're totally fine inside Sora's heart (because they're dead. oops). Much like how Eraqua was inside Terra. Which makes me wonder if there is a difference between a dead person as opposed to a living one taking -

refuge inside another living person’s heart? Ven and Roxas could occasionally assert their presence visibly from Sora. But otherwise Sora couldn’t talk to them or Xion and they seemed to be more or less unaware of what was happened on the outside. By contrast Eraqus seemed fully aware of what was going on and it seemed like Terra could communicate easily w/Eraqus. Maybe if Epehmer does end up in Sora’s heart it will be a Eraqus situation where he can talk to Sora easily. Know what’s going on-

and even manifest his appearance outside of Sora to talk face to face w/him or other people? It would be a interesting thing to explore. By contrast if the Player is also there they could be a unseen presence that only Sora occasionally hears. They could help in other ways that don’t require them to actually show up. Like some kind of guardian angel presence that’s invisible, never personally known but definitely felt. Sora may not know who they are but he feels them protecting/helping him.

Related to my other Ephemer ask. I’m now imagining Epehmer talking to Sora and Sora talking back out loud and bystanders looking at Sora like “…who are you talking to?” and being worried over his sanity. Or if Sora does get amnesia in some way. Ephemer is trying to get him relax and being D= about it when Sora starts low key freaking out because he forgot about the whole heart hotel thing and has to get used to it again. XD

You know… that’s a good point. Is there a difference between what happened with Ven, what happened with Roxas/Xion, and what happened with Eraqus?

Roxas and Xion were both parts of Sora (his body/soul and memories, respectively) so of course they’d get completely absorbed with only the barest hints of their personalities coming through via their hearts, which are all they had left. Ven’s heart was weak and recovering. The fact that Sora used the Power of Waking to bring him back implies to me that his heart was sleeping… I’m not sure if that’s the distinction between Eraqus’s situation and Ven’s or if it’s because Eraqus was totally dead. Hmmm

Still, yes. Spirit Guide Ephemer physically manifesting to Sora is A+. Ephemer just being like “Dude, I don’t know what’s going on either but please? Please everyone’s staring just- no, stop, they’re gonna think you’re possessed if you keep yelling like that!” “I AM POSSESSED” “No! No, I’m just hitching a ride I’m here to help o-ohhhhhhhh great people are starting to freak out”

A Detective Pikachu situation where Sora has to keep pretending to talk on the Gummiphone when chatting with Ephemer’s spirit so that people don’t think he’s totally lost it. Ephemer, for his part, doing his best to make it all feel as normal as possible but he’s also, like… an actual ghost from the distant past that by nature is fucking everything up by being there

Ephemer’s from the past! Like, he’s physically (ethereally?) a teenager but he’s also at least a century older than Sora so do you ever think he has those “Back in my day” moments? Like an old grandpa Keyblade Wielder who’s just also a teenage boy haunting you?

And when I think of the Player being in Sora’s heart, I really think of a Bravely Second-esque situation. Where the main character, Yew, is being watched over by the Player, who is an in-universe godlike being called a Celestial. And no one’s really aware of the Celestial except Yew can kinda feel them at times and occasionally asks for their help, at which point you basically use normal gameplay options to help (i.e. starting New Game Plus, mashing B, etc.)

So not exactly like that, but Player as a presence that Sora kinda has a sense might be there, but no one else can sense it. Kinda like what you described. It’s just that Bravely Second is what inspired the idea for me in the first place

Ephemer and Player in both scenarios being like “Yeah, I already died. Totally aware that it was my generation that screwed you over, so I’m here to help. Just ask me anything, buddy!” Or Ephemer and Player together just being like “Oh, don’t mind us, we’re fine! It’s nice getting to hang out again without the fear of one of us dying! Haha!” The two of them being like Sora’s incorporeal older siblings. Or if they’re arguing with each other, they might end up like a shoulder-angel-shoulder-devil thing
