De acuerdo con el calendario, hoy se celebra el "día internacional de la juventud" como cada 12 de agosto, según lo establecido por la Asamblea General de las Naciones Unidas, por recomendación de la Conferencia Mundial de Ministros de Asuntos de la Juventud desde 1999. En el más reciente estudio “Juventudes vulnerables, competencias digitales y formación profesional en América Latina” de la ⁠OIT ⁠de 2024, entre las competencias más solicitadas del sector TIC que serán cruciales para facilitar la inserción de las y los jóvenes en un mercado laboral cada vez más digitalizado se identifican: 1. Alfabetización en información y datos. 2. Comunicación y colaboración en línea. 3. Creación de contenidos digitales. 4. Seguridad en la red. 5. Resolución de problemas . Además, la ⁠OIT ⁠destaca la importancia de habilidades en áreas como análisis de datos, ciencias de datos, ciberseguridad, programación, y la capacidad de trabajar con inteligencia artificial y grandes modelos de lenguaje. En Colombia, el panorama refleja esta tendencia global. Según estudios del Ministerio TIC, existe un déficit significativo de profesionales en ciencias de la computación. Se estima que para 2025, el país podría enfrentar una brecha de talento digital de hasta 265,000 trabajos, incluyendo hasta 112,000 desarrolladores de software. Pero, hay esperanza en las habilidades digitales para el mercado laboral, una perspectiva eclipsada permanentemente por la distracción y el entretenimiento, aún se puede estudiar para aprenderlas y usarlas de manera responsable y productiva. La digitalización está creando nuevos empleos y ocupaciones, aunque también está eliminando otras ocupaciones o funciones, especialmente aquellos que involucran tareas rutinarias y manuales. La demanda de habilidades está cambiando, con un aumento en la necesidad de habilidades digitales avanzadas y habilidades blandas como la comunicación y la colaboración.
