would other species (i.e. fish) have swim forms? or maybe scuttle forms if you've got legs

I tend to go with the assumption that only inkfish have swim forms, mainly because of the swim form’s original function and also because cephalopods can edit their RNA in weird, cool ways.

I like to think the swim form originated as a way for a squid/octopus to hide in ink either to escape predators, or to ambush prey. The form itself would be pretty useless without ink to hide in, so only an ink-bearing creature would find any use in evolving a form like this. Not to mention the entire can of worms regarding how they transform in the first place (I genuinely have no idea), but the only mechanics I can think of that would work may only be possible (and useful) in a cephalopod

Probably the closest thing I can think of in another species is maybe Nautili? They have a lot of similar traits (and have retained many older ones) from their inkfish relatives, so they would likely be able to do something similar. Probably not a swim form, but maybe just making their bodies smaller? So they can fit in their shell better I guess.

The Robbers Cave hike is short and steep. But you can spend a lot of time exploring all the nooks and crannies. The likes of Jesse James, Cole Younger, and Belle Starr hid in this area. Day 2

OKherewego.

I went a little hard. 

I have been babying myself forever. Not just recently. When I trained for the Marathon, I didn’t push for speed much, I skipped a few runs here and there, I didn’t do any cross training, and, at the race, I didn’t push myself out of fear, and posted an embarrassingly slow time because of it. (Also because I drank too much water and Gatorade and flushed all the salt out of my blood and got very sick. Hyponatremia!) 

So, I have a little bit of a grudge against myself. I went a little hard my first time out, ran faster than I should have. I’m doing fine, but my legs are pretty tired. And I’m back at work full time this week, after an easy summer (I work at a school.) So, today has been kind of a lot.

Still, I’m not feeling too bad. And, tomorrow is a rest day!

I’m gonna sleep like a baby for sure tonight.
