Pithoragarh Sexual harassment turns to self-immolation Case of 16 year old girl attempting self-immolation in alleges of rape by elderly people. Girl took this extreme step on April 30 as being harrased by 59 year old man from long time. Father of victim tried to hide the case but came in light when she had been admitted in hospital and gave her statement to doctor. Father admitted her daughter with excuse that she got brunt while cooking meal. 60% of victim body was brunt and after this critical condition doctors of pithoragarh referred her to Susheela Tiwari Government Hospital Haldwani on Ist May. Then She was finally able to give her statement to police on. following which Haldwani police registered a case against the accused elderly person. who works in a government department. Victim was living with in her grandmother in Munsyari where she got sexually harrased by elderly Man and gave threat to hide the circumstances. Senior sub-inspector of Haldwani police Station had registered the case aganist culprit, under:- POCSO Act and IPC section 376 (rape). 323 (voluntarily causing hurt). 504 (intentionally insulting any person).
