What I've been up to...

Recently for the past 10 day I've mostly focusing on making s neocities site, mostly to link to other sites in on. But since I'm finishing up on the site, I just wanted to share where I'm at right now :]

Intro to Evergreen Pt: 1

Characters Personalities + Some Old Art 🌸🍀

“Evergreen” Is the story of one of my favorite OC duos, Tsuru Kimura and Tsukushi Kiyo (Tsu^2) through their ups and downs and eventual happy ending despite all the bull crap. It is mostly set from the 1980s to the 2010s, in both Osaka and America with some detours in other countries. Overall it is the story of an everlasting friendship and eventual romance. For now I’m just going to go over the main duo (personality, birthdays, hobbies, etc) I’ll post the main story beats + more art very soon!!!

Tsuru Kimura,

10/7/82 (Libra, year of the Dog)

To most Tsuru seems like the stiff and 'overly responsible' type of guy, he's often people's first choice when they vote for the leader of a group project, which is fair, he spent the majority of his school years as a member of the student council and even president in the later years… and he keeps everything he can control in order, but under that well-tempered exoskeleton of a person is a frankly nervous guy. He wants to live up to every expectation and what's more important to himself than his own expectations for himself, is helping people. He wants to take his time to understand others and even give the benefit of the doubt to a lot of people who have no one, and he wants to try his best to push them to be better even if he isn't the best at talking to them. He finds his fulfillment in working in public health with people who are left behind by society.

His hobbies include collecting miniature train models, reading comics, collecting and trading “monster” cards, surfing, hiking, and cooking.

Best Habit: He’s extremely reliable, if he promises something consider it done!

Worst Habit: He has a tendency to just ‘go with the flow’ and even blatantly lie or ‘bend the truth’ just to keep the peace while micromanaging situations.

Favorite Food: He isn’t picky and has very few preferences, but he enjoys his fathers Mimiga with Ponzu.

Favorite Vacation Location: He prefers staycations but out of every destination he’s been to Okinawa and Barcelona take the cake.

Tsukushi Kiyo,

5/22/82 (Gemini, year of the Dog)

Someone's upon first meeting Tsukushi would probably think that he is highly social and even charming but after some familiarity some would realize that he isn't an extrovert (in the terms that he doesn't gain much from social praise or fame from everyone around him), but he often struggles to realize this fact among other things for a lot of his life. He had found purpose in being popular and 'the cool guy' but after some self-realization, he finds actual happiness in being around the people he cares about and making a mark on the world through his creativity he had previously ignored. He's an enthusiast for fashion of all kinds and explores his inner self through his presentation and creations.

His hobbies include reading fashion magazines, sewing, playing old video games, collecting clothing (especially in alternative styles), planning outfits, blogging and looking at pictures of bunnies online.

Best Habit: When he’s in his stride he is unstoppable, he’s loud and excitable about what he cares about, which extends to the people around him! He is genuinely the best cheer leader anyone could ask for, and wants to be helpful in anyway.

Worst Habit: Despite being so affluent with people he’s excellent at isolating himself and focusing to much energy on his own shame and fear of failure, causing him to at times lash out at the people who care the most about him…

Favorite Food: As a child he was extremely fond of Welsh rarebit and (‘raw’) broccoli, it’s something he can always eat even when he’s upset, his grandmother always made it for him.

Favorite Vacation Location: Yamagata (in the winter), it’s quiet, the hot springs and skiing spots are amazing, but more importantly it holds his favorite memory.

Booted up my old laptop to see if it still worked and found a bunch of old oc drawings. I think they're circa 2019-2020?

It's a lot of images so I'm putting it under the cut.

I came up with these two in high school, and they're the ones I've worked on the most. It's kinda funny looking back at my old color choices; completely forgot I gave that one dude a green bandana.

The knockoff Mimiga himself, also from high school. I made him a rabbit initially, but he looked too much like the dudes from Cave Story so I switched him to a goat. Tbh, the horns didn't make that much of a difference at the time haha.

The oldest of the characters that I still use; I think I came up with her when I was like, 12? Her whole thing was based off a random line from The Amazing World of Gumball; I think the episode was "The Console"

Just picked this one back up again recently. Gonna have to do a full redesign on her and her friends once I finally re-figure out what kind of setting they live in.

“Torn from the Heavens” (Eorzean Symphony: FFXIV Orchestral Album) - the original is a favorite and this concert version is excellent too! glad i finally got a copy of it :3

“Fodlan Winds” (Fire Emblem Premium Arrange II) - the premium arrange albums for fire emblem are always my jam! they have that classic vgm arrange style and it really connects to my musical roots x3

“Let the Battles Begin! - Break Through” (Final Fantasy VII Remake OST) - gotta be honest this song just kicks my ass so good. the orchestration and layering are sublime. also the way the original themes are teased and developed over 7 mins. killer work all around!

“Dracula’s Castle” (Resurrection of the Night) - i won’t say how many times i’ve listened to this in the past week cause it’s embarrassing >_>

“HE^RT” (Starcadian) - this song speaks to the very atoms in my body. the music, the lyrics, the aesthetic, the mood. any time this song plays my physical form melts away and i just vibe (also that chord progression mmm).

“Musical Chairs” (Fair To Midland) - this is an olde one. found it through tumblr of all places x’D but damn if it doesn’t get me fuckin psyched up every time. those bass riffs kill me. and piano in prog rock/prog metal? always a winning combo for me. the lyrics are fantastic too. 10 out of 10 from start to finish.

“Shell of What Was” (Destiny 2 Forsaken OST) - bonus track cause this lives rent free in my head 24/7. can’t get enough of this sick jam.

“Mimiga Town” (Cave Story OST) - another oldie but it’s still so very good. so good in fact that it inspired me to not only make my own arrangement but to upload it to youtube. this song features everything i love about classic vgm <3

“Beware the Forest’s Mushrooms” (Super Mario RPG - Legend of the Seven Stars OST) - this soundtrack was one of many that nurtured my love of video game music. i worked hard to track down a physical copy of this soundtrack because of how important it was to me

“Antipyretic” (Final Fantasy Tactics OST) - the entire soundtrack for tactics is a beautiful journey. especially considering it was a ps1 game released back in 1997. it has aged surprisingly well. it moved me in ways i didn’t realize that game music could. the raw emotion in this piece along with the dynamic push and pull of the different sections is still amazing. and when that main theme hits near the end? delicious pain~

I've heard of Mimiga! They're from an old indie game called Cave Story [which if you didn't know, inspired Toby Fox]. Mimiga themselves are similar in appearance to the Dreemurrs, so it might be fun. Up to you if you follow through on that anons request or not :P

Why can't Claus eat red flowers?

((If you followed Yagi’s old blog before he deactivated, you might have seen some people asking if Claus was a Mimiga. Well, he was. Claus was a creature from the game Cave Story. Mimigas were creatures who looked very similar to some art of Asriel and other Boss Monsters from Undertale. When they ate a certain kind of red flower, they would go berserk, and undergo a sort of transformation. They became much stronger, but they would not be easily able to tell friend from foe, and so they typically avoided the flowers.))

The Kickstarter didn’t make it.

My car’s radiator exploded. My vehicle has been out of commission since September.

My finances fell apart. I’m still digging out of the hole from car repairs, tow truck bills, falling behind on payments for school, and paying off my bank card.

I got a new job doing quality assurance testing for mobile apps. It was awful and the pay was pathetic.My roommate and I have been barely making ends meet.

I quit that old shitty job and transitioned into a new job doing C++ programming for a simulation company.

I got my first paycheck from my new job today. My broken mouse has been replaced.

We still have a lot of work to do to deliver this game by the original planned release date in August.
