You are correct that it’s a nod towards Sailor Moon’s DiC opening (The “Fighting Evil by Moonlight” Opening).  Marinette’s name and hairstyle are also nods towards the character. One of the meanings of the name “Marinette” is “Little Sailor.”  Usagi/Serena’s hairstyle is also pigtails.

I never understand why in the intro, Marinette says "In the daytime, I'm Marinette." Like she's saying she's only Ladybug at night or something like that

That might be a nod/reference to Sailor Moon's intro, which had a similar misnomer:

"Fighting Evil by Moonlight, Winning Love by Daylight".

Like, girl, you were doing both those things at all times of day, often at the same time, what are you on about lol.
