. . The other day I walked around an area of my city with a different purpose: to find street art. . When you look for something, chances are you’ll find it! I discovered beautiful and impactful pieces all around me. . . I took myself out on what #juliacameron calls an Artist Date: a solo journey or activity to inspire you. Playing with colours, going to a cafe or museum, try something new, popping into a used bookstore or walking around a neighborhood and photographing art. . My usual #artistdate is walking outside and taking photos of art by ‘The’ Artist, photos of nature, to inspire my writing and this time I found a different kind of inspiration in art from a different angle. Around the corners, in the alleys, on the sides of buildings, on boarded up stores and art in architecture too. . Do you do artist dates? ( W 01.07.2020): I'm RePosting this today because it includes a reference to another Canada Day, coincidentally also a Wednesday. This Canada Day is DIFFERENT. There are NO FESTIVITIES at the Legislature. Thank you COVID-19.

A difficult week in a Homeless Shelter transitioned to a stay in a Rooming House, in Old Strathcona. That period, Homeless Shelter and Rooming House, saw my personality and mind change, they grew and matured. The Intellectual me (What am I supposed to do? Who am I supposed to be?) was gone, replaced by something "LESS THINKY", but "more" AUTHENTIC. I don't know where it came from. It just showed up in its' bare feet. Oh the Trouble I could have gotten into had it shown up EARLIER. I am what you'd call a LATE BLOOMER, despite getting into PLENTY OF TROUBLE, AUTHENTIC OR NOT! The real change is that I'm No Longer Going Through the Motions. An added bonus: Thinky Me was gone and I was still alive to enjoy it. 😄💋🙏💜

From @livingsanctuary: I went to see the new mural in Old Strathcona. The geometric shapes and vivid colours are captivating, and the art certainly commands attention. I also have been following discussions on social media, mostly by women (including Indigenous, queer, and POC) critical of the mural, particularly its alleged use of Indigenous myth concerning animal and human spirituality, and the female form presented as a dog (some are referring to the mural tongue-in-cheek as “Dogboob” or “Wolfboob”). These aspects are cited as problematic due to the artist being a white man (from Spain) and the major funders/supporters being white men. I’m not making any opinion here other than to state my observations and to say that we shouldn’t try to silence dissenting, mainly marginalized voices who don’t agree that this is the best thing to hit Edmonton this summer.
