La Reina del Sur 3: Review

It was so good to see again Teresa Mendoza new adventure, even better to discover all those beautiful countries in South America. 

Unfortunately, the final left us unsatisfied. They could add another episode to put everything in place, such as: - Teresa discovering a truck full of money, - Batman starting a new life with his family, - Faustino having an uncertain future after avenging the death of his wife, - Did Teresa and Sofía meet again? - Did Sofía and Fedor get together.  - Did Teresa follow Oleg? Are they together finally? - What happened to Paloma? Did she got with Teresa and Sofía?

To this point, I still don’t understand why they killed Rocío? 

Also, what happened with the plane’s explosion from the trailer? And we clearly saw Teresa and Batman in a limousine. 

Finally, why Oleg and Teresa didn’t at least kiss in the last episodes?? WHY?

9. Favorite pairing you wrote for this year?

tbh I was pretty proud of two ultra rarepairs whose relationship dynamics I think I got pretty well: the van ness x feistl fic, and the teresa mendoza x oleg yasikov fic. for both pairings, i think only one or two people other than myself are actually Invested in the pairing, and that rarity level gives it a little je ne sais quoi 😂

Random thoughts

Chris Meloni's gonna be returning to tv next year as Elliot Stabler to star in a SVU spin off, and it got me thinking of the whole Elliot and Olivia dynamic I was in love with for years. They were partners who had each other's back every time. They were best friends and family. They even developed deeper feelings for each other at a point, but nothing was ever pursued since it would ruin everything they already had together (and since Elliot was married at the time ofc).

While recalling this, I'm wondering why it feels so familiar. It's simply cause I'm going through this again with Teresa and Oleg. They really have something that is 'more than a thousand loves'. It is visible that they strongly care about one another and would do whatever is takes to make sure the other is safe. I've said this a hundred times and I'll say it again: Oleg is the ONLY man worthy of her.

Like Elliot, Oleg is married (though he is mostly apart from his wife and son), but there's just a portion of my soul that hopes one day both of these pairs can be together.

Endgame. Canon. Happily ever after.

After all these years...I can only hope

Never watched the novela or the original book, do they (including qots) share the same characters and plot?

Yes and no.

If you haven’t watch novela I rec for a..… very *cough* unique *cough* experience.

La Reina is a straight up adaptation of the book, it doesn’t differ from the og source much. Has quite a bunch of new characters of course (like Fatima and her son, that I have this notion, inspired Brenda and Tony in QoTS), to make it more entertaining, and some new plots, which are very over the top. And no Queenpin, sadly. I think it’s a very important part of the book, that Teresa sees herself and kind of guide herself through all the obstacles. So this is a bummer for me. Also whole action, aside of beginning and end, happens in Spain, both in book and novela. Oh, and ending (book) is… sad. If I may put it like that. Left me depressed for days, that’s for sure.

They currently did season 2 for La Reina, and as far I know Teresa has a daughter in it. So that’s interesting. Gotta finish watching s1 (I got 2 more eps left), and get to s2. Kate del Castillo is great actress, I will give her that.

As for QoTS… well this one drifts away a lot. And by that I mean there is a lot of new characters and some of them got the alternate story. Like in the book/novela Teo Aljarafe is Teresa’s partner and lawyer, in QoTS we know he was Camila’s lawyer who ended up dead quite fast. Actually after Piloto everything is new. Also, don’t remember exactly, but I don’t think we even get the name of Epi’s wife in the book. We don’t even explore his character like in QoTS.

Which characters overlap in all three…? If I remember correctly, Teresa of course, Pote, Guero, Epifanio, Batman, Teo Aljarafe, Oleg Yasikov, Gato, mentioned Chino and Brenda (she doesn’t have any role in the book/novela aside of being Chino’s wife and Teresa’s best friend who gets killed at the beginning) and that would be it.

From what I see they sure get inspiration from both sources, but twists and alternate most of it. Like recently I’ve noticed KG is more like Oleg in the book/novela (especially from novela). Pote also has much bigger role in QoTS. I also think Kelly Anne is heavy inspired by Patty O’Farrel (close friend of Teresa that, spoiler, dies by drowning herself in a bathtub), both privileged white women providing Teresa with business help.

Really, if you have time and will, go read the book at least, it’s not long and sure is interesting.

If I messed something up, pls correct me, I did read the book some time ago now, and had some break from novela, so my memory about earlier episodes might be a bit foggy.

Grave accidente deja en terapia intensiva a actor de “La reina del sur”

El actor argentino Alberto Jiménez, quien formó parte de “La reina del sur”, se encuentra batallando por su vida en un centro médico, tras chocar su moto.

En un comunicado oficial emitido por el Teatro Español, donde se encontraba presentando una pieza teatral, se informa que “el actor Alberto Jiménez, que en estos momentos se encontraba trabajando en la obra de teatro ‘El Ángel Exterminador’ en el Teatro Español, sufrió un grave accidente de moto cuando salió y se dirigía a su casa. Se encuentra grave pero estable y fuera de peligro en el área de cuidados intensivos”. Alberto dio vida a Oleg Yasikov en la popular serie protagonizada por Kate del Castillo y emitida por Telemundo. En vista de la cercanía que tuvieron ambos artistas, la polémica actriz le envió mensajes de solidaridad a su amigo.
