yet sometimes I think, "would aqua even bother asking you to be his girlfriend at a time crisis like this?"

It's a possibility he wants to keep you safe and unharmed from danger, so he'll probably lock up his feelings from you and keep it a secret so no danger will come for you, but it's not guaranteed </3

I'll never forget the way he delicately brushed the strands of hair stuck to my forehead. It was as though he held all the tenderness and adoration in the world for me.

"What do you mean? I'm always open?" My voice cracked, betraying the facade of strength I tried to uphold.

"The way you said that, as if it were a question, says it all." His observation felt like a dagger twisting in my heart, a painful acknowledgment of how right he was. 

I wince as he gently taps my cheek, coaxing me to meet his gaze. Suddenly, I'm hesitant to look into his eyes, afraid of further truth I may uncover there.

Eventually, when I did, I was reminded why I was here in the first place. Warm brown eyes that felt like home now held a distance I couldn’t bridge. The first gaze that could accept me for who I was. He can see right through my flaws. Here, I never had to pretend to be perfect. He made perfectionism feel like a distant dream.

"Stop overthinking. I hate it when you do that."

"Sorry," was all I could muster, my voice barely a whisper in the silence that lingered between us.

He smirks at me before rolling over onto his side. I remain fixed in the same position, staring at the ceiling, as if he were still hovering over me. Somehow, the weight of his absence felt heavier than his presence ever did.

"Thank you,” I whispered into the darkness, like a plea for forgiveness that would never be answered.

As the silence envelops us, I feel a surge of emotions rising within me. It's strange how words can sometimes fail to capture the depth of what we feel. But with him, it felt like there was an unspoken understanding; a connection that transcends mere conversation.

With a gentle sigh, I shift closer to him, seeking solace in his presence. His arm instinctively wraps around me, pulling me into a warm embrace. In his embrace, I find comfort, a sense of security that I've longed for.

I close my eyes, allowing myself to bask in the warmth of his embrace. It's in moments like these that I realize how much I've come to rely on him, and how empty my world would be without him. It was as if his presence had become a sanctuary in the chaos of my life.

After that day, I began to realize my own lack of transparency. Was I avoiding the scrutiny of others, or fleeing from myself? What destination was I so desperately seeking, and why? I’ve never been a lonely person, or at least that is what I had convinced myself. I’ve always been surrounded by family, friends, and loved ones. It was a fulfilling life, wasn’t it? Meeting you unearthed a loneliness rooted deep within me. 

 Every bad day, every terrible moment, I found myself back in that same special spot, searching for solace in the echoes of our past. Even if I didn’t voice my concerns, you always greeted me, arms open wide, like my head had a reserved spot on your chest where I could close my eyes and relinquish myself to the rhythm of your heartbeat. 

Before we crossed paths, I had never pondered these questions, content to drift through life to fulfill what I had been told was my purpose. But you redefined that purpose. Suddenly, I felt compelled to cease running, not from myself or others.  When did I become so reliant on you? Why was I now running from you and your open embrace? I fled towards the places steeped in damage and shame. Had I finally found the courage to look within? 

The questions you provoked within me felt like shards of a shattered mirror, reflecting back a distorted image of a soul struggling to find a place in a world that no longer made sense.

The solace I sought in you blinded me to the truth: you were the fractured mirror all along.

But how could I notice when I was so self-absorbed? Perhaps if I could mend the fragments of the ruins of my mind, a haunted house of mirrors, I could in turn help fix you. Days blurred together as I found myself gazing into my own reflection, contemplating how I might reach out to you, openly trying to reach the dark and shaded depths of your mind. In my blurred vision, perhaps I overlooked just how much you truly needed me. Fixing you felt like a cruel illusion, a fantasy born from desperation and despair.

Checking on you was not nearly enough. It just felt like a feeble attempt to bridge what now separated us. How could I convey the love you give to me so effortlessly? Did you truly grasp the depth of my feelings? 

 I said those three words so often, but you never had to because your actions spoke louder than any declaration. How did you effortlessly escape speaking in moments like these, when every word you uttered started to feel like a knife to the heart? What was silencing you? Have you ever even uttered those words to me? I can’t recall a time you did. 

The more I delved into self-improvement, the more distance was created between us. Was I on the wrong path? Did my self-loathing somehow bind him to me? I’d gladly revert to the dark depths of hating myself if it would draw him closer. Even now, though, that felt like a hollow promise to keep you from walking away.

My insecurities, the void in my heart… it gave you a purpose, didn’t it? I’d gladly embrace that version of myself if it meant I could stay by your side. I yearn for the comfort of residing in your arms once more. So I mirrored your actions: I waited for you with open arms. 

Why didn’t you approach me as eagerly as I had once approached you?

The day I found out about what you did, I felt more angry at myself than I did you. It felt like a painful acknowledgment of my own complicity in our downfall. I blamed myself for letting things deteriorate to this point. Whether or not I chose to adapt that feeling of self-hatred willingly, it seemed to return on its own accord. 

Did you choose to walk away or did my ignorance push you to that point? 

It’s like I couldn’t force myself to care about your actions; I just had to know if you were okay. I’m hopelessly devoted to you. Is this what love does to you? Is this how it’s supposed to feel? Please tell me it's love. I know you’ve always been hesitant to admit it, but I need to hear it from you. 

I searched endlessly until I found you. Amidst a crowd of faces blending together, none of them could hold a candle to you. My world was monotonous without you, and there you were like the sun in a valley of stars. You always swore you were the moon and that couldn’t be more false in my mind. Can’t you see my whole world revolved around you? 

I wanted answers. No, that’s not enough, I wanted to understand you. I needed to understand the depth of your pain and suffering, like a desperate plea for absolution in the face of our own insecurities and shortcomings. Why couldn’t I just open up to you? I wanted to tell you everything. You knew me inside and out and yet I couldn’t claim the same about you. My mind felt like a treasure you delicately unwrapped, cherishing every discovery. Yet, my impatience drove me to want to tear into your mind, to uncover all the secrets I endlessly sought. 

Where did you vanish to? What happened to us? Was I just another casualty in your evolving quest for power and control?  Did I ever truly know you? Who are you, really? 

I promise I didn’t intentionally self-isolate. That’s just what happens when you’re in love, right? My life was always this lonely, or that's at least how I remember things because my life only had meaning when you came into it. 

I guess I have to let you go. 

Memories spilled through the gaps of my fingers like grains of stars in an infinitely expanding galaxy. The more I tried to hold on to them, the more difficult they became to remember.

Retrospectively, I never changed myself. I’m that same broken teen I once was. You just brought perspective and meaning to my life, a debt I could never repay.  I never learned to be open or expressive. I just learned to endlessly drift with echoes because I couldn’t say goodbye.

At least I got to hold onto your lifeless form with open arms.

Continuing with Volume 1 - Chapter 2

The double spread of Vash here and the grim history of the planet they're stuck in being contrasted by the title "LOONEY TUNES" is darkly funny ngl.

I know Vash is flexible and can get into wacky pretzel poses a lot from '98 and a bit less so from Tristamp, but this is something else. Combined with the sound effects, one would think this is a NSFW manga of a different genre.

Nightow loves to use sharp lines and triangle shapes, doesn't he? Not an expert opinion tho. Just something I'm noticing.

Gremlin Baby Girl Vash using the age old tactic of hide-and-seek: people rarely look up!

I love their dynamic so much which I miss a lot in Tristamp. I mean Roberto-Meryl mentor dynamics was good and the series gave her a good origin, but still... I can't wait to see Milly again.

I think this is manga only, right? I don't remember something like this in '98. Meryl can be silly but it's a different kind of silly. Remembering how in denial she was in '98 about Vash being Vash is funny.

Ok. So, in terms of art, '98 really gets the manga. TriStamp can be goofy but not to this extent... yet. I think Studio Orange is really doing their best to maximize 3D animation in replicating silly anime/manga expressions. They did it during the Jeonora Looney Toons Chase and a bit when Wolfwood was flyswatted by Meryl with a van. Maybe there'd be more next season (?)

What else is there to say about them? They're mad and they know how way over their heads this situation is, but they do their job anyway.

Sigh... A terrible sight it is. This is the third iteration I've seen. It's the same old thing just in another coat of paint I've missed until now. This is tiring and frustrating as a reader/watcher.

While these people do show a bit of remorse because they acknowledge how nice Vash is and the story makes it clear that this was a last resort, it's practically a flimsy band-aid on a bleeding fatal wound.

Oh, yeah, here's a second post about Gintama's Live-action adaptations. I'm a total completionist so I not only watched the second movie, I had to find the Mitsuba arc and then @sebfreak pointed me to the other miniseries, so... (sorry if it's a long post, while I'm not drawing my brain can't stop)

Right, the Mitsuba arc

Loved they include the spicy parfait scene, I mean, the cgi is what it is, but I have a lot of respect for 'em even trying,

Zaki's afro? chef's kiss, simply delicious

Also, Hijikata's reacion to the spicy snacks? delicious. These guys are good at funny faces.

Loved the Gin's pretending to be sleeping scene, missed the part about the black circles under his eyes, tho.

(Look, it was very difficult to find the three parts of the drama, I got 'em from 3 different places and every place has it's own subtitles on indonesian or french. Also, the quality? oh my, the quality was terrible by the third part)

This is a fucking sad arc, daaaamn, and this being a drama... well, it's even more dramatic. I mean, that last scene on the roof? it always breaks my heart.

And now, for something completely different, the mini-series thingy.

The episodes they choose to adapt are... interesting, I mean who in their right mind chooses those three? okay, I love how weird the decision is.

I love the details on the one were Kagura can't sleep, I mean, the Dragon Ball mangas, the justaway alarm clock, Gintoki's pajamas.

Holy shit, the make up, the Napoleon thing, the radio drama, "I didn't get enough sleep, and I'm starting to hear strange things"; I love this episode.

And then, the one were Hijikata can't smoke, maaaan, this episode was like a fever dream in the anime and the live-action is so on point. The whole Namek planet thing, "I'm going to defeat Breeza!", "I'm trying to revive Grillin!", the cgi is not that bad, I mean, slimy grimmy Shen Long could've looked worst. Also, I insist, Hijikata's actor is so stupid good at expressions.

And, finally, the dentist episode, another fever dream. I'm very afraid of the dentist so, yeah, can confirm that People of All Ages Hate the Dentist!. Also, again, their expressions!; Hasegawa!; the treatment! This episode may have worsen my fear of the dentist

I love the way this live-actions thingies keep the whole Gintama spirit, I love that the first scene on the Rules are Made to be Broken movie is the still shot from Yorozuya HQ and it's just these idiots talking over it. If I've watched this on the cinema I would've cheered like the stupid weeabo I am (I told a friend yesterday "I went from 0 to otaku in like 3 moths" so there).

I guess the whole chip on Toshi's neck is weird, but maybe the whole sword thing would've been longer to explain so probably it was best for simplicity.

Okay so a kinda OP 1089 live post as I watch. This is from the perspective of a manga reader so anime only's if you come across this I might hint or talk about something that couod ruin the experience, so beware!

-First of all omfg that opening. So amazing. I remember seeing a tweet from one of the animation staff lamenting that they felt their work was gonna be invalidated. If anything, I hope they see the love people pour into it on a weekly basis and how we enjoy the journey alongside them. Like i think the remakes gonna be amazing for new viewers but the weekly release really gives us the leisure of adventure. It lets us bask instead of throwing us into a plot heavy rush.

-And nothing proves that better than the extended look at the strawhats as they discuss luffys dreams. Their expressions and thoughts. Just those extra seconds of living with the characters was so fun. Also it makes me so curious about Luffys dream once again. Ok so like he has to be the king of the pirates to achieve it right? So the free-est person on the sea? What could be beyond that? Free-est person in the universe? Are we getting space hopping Luffy?

-And then the gorosei talking about it being Sabos destiny that he is there. Hmmm. Ive been thinking about destiny recently and its really interesting how that comment lines up with my thoughts.

-and lulusia! The king is literally Vlad the impaler. And the mother flame impales the land. Makes me wonder if Mihawks from there. Also, what a horrific sequence.

-can't forget to mention that Sabo's transponder has a scar! Idk if this is a popular theory or idea but seeing him in colour really makes me want him to awaken blues flames, something that burns hotter thans ace.

-omg the eyecatchers(is that what they're called?the things in the middle of the episode. Where they cut for ads. Its been so long since ive watched anime properly, im sorry 😭) Are so adorable!

-the banter between zoro and Sanji! The crew working the ship! Love!

-but like also this reminds me why I love Sanji and Zoro as the wings. Sanji is the tactics and Zoro is the reason. Both things luffy lacks. And even extending to the rest of the east blue crew, Nami appeals to a heart and will, remember the Cracker fight. And her whole existence in supporting her village was about her strength of will. And Ussop represents both caution and bravery. Just as much a willingness to stick back and observe as with Sugar as dive in like GOD Ussop. They're facets that Luffy's never had.

-ahh my son Chopper is so cute! And robin 😍. And Luffys red nose and cheeks! Sorry for being a canadian but ah I miss winter! I have so many mixed feelings!!!!

I think the visuals were stunning, the VAs OMFG - Romi and Kamiya were ABSOLUTELY AMAZING.

I liked a few additions, like, the way Levi was walking down the stairs with Armin, and GOSH, there are moments I REALLY WANT TO KISS Hanji's character designer for the perfect visuals.

AND I LOVED THE FIGHT AGAINST THE COLOSSALS A WHOLE FREAKING LOT.

I think it was so rushed. Again. Our personal CURSE.

And I feel like putting 131, 133 and 134 + 132 (and the afterlife scene) was not a really nice move. It pains me that Hanji dies and we can't even feel it right because there is so much happening.

131 was already a HUGE, FANTASTIC roller-coaster of despair and horror and shock. It was terrifying and painful, but then BOOM - we have these kinda silly (?) aru-annie moments, then mikasa-annie, then Floch, then BOOM- Hanji comes to die.

Then we didn't have the same nuances the manga gives us between Levi and Hanji - like, the way Levi's and Hange's lips changed during the Sasageyo, and Levi avoiding to see Hanji fighting at first, and I wished we had heard everyone crying in the airplane, and I wished the episode had ended with Hanji and Erwin+everyone in Ymir's realm.

I have to give many thanks to my perfect LH comrade, @murdergiraffe, with whom I shared the rawness of these moments (we watched it together through phone call lmao). I was feeling so many things, (pretty numb actually lmao), and we discussed soooooo many things, freaking out and then raging together lmao. It enhanced the experience again <3

And that's it for now. I want to watch it subbed, but i don't think I will do it today. Still many mixed feelings to sort out!

hi!! yesss, i've finished the manga so far and have watched the first 3 episodes of the anime (the opening is fire btw and i really enjoy the general feel the animation gives. my bf is also big fan)

ok ok ok, so...... denji is my absolute favourite as of now and right after him is power and i promise that it's not just cos of the sharp teeth (though it certainly brings a lot to the table sdkfdkfj)

i love the chaos this duo brings so much, pls don't even get me started on that. they're loud, unhinged, impatient, temperamental, hyperemotional; just two morons that are the perfect mix of the type of characters i usually fall for immediately

and power is just so fucking cool and i love denji cos he isn't your typical shonen hero. manz has issues, so does power. i also rly like their sub va's. extremely fitting; especially power's laugh. ngl at some points denji's voice reminded me so much of kirishima's lmao.

AND THE SCENE WHERE THEY SHARED A BED COS POWER WAS SCARED???? JFDHDJSKFHDKLSJ I WAS SCREAMING AT MY PHONE

i can't wait for that to get animated fr. their dynamic is perfection to me (especially during those chapters where power needed denji close so badly) and besides their badass personalities, they're also both extremely pretty. and i love power's mannerisms and how she moves around, like just her walk and hand gestures alone are super nice to look at. also denji's entire look is so nice, he's so fuckin cute!!

as for aki, he's chill and mature, which i like!! i rly liked him in the manga, haven't seen that much of him in the anime yet but the household scenes were super fun to watch where he's fussy and pushing denji around lol. and listen.... as soon as i saw the cig scene (ya know, where he puts it out by spitting on it) animated, i was like "yeah...... girlies, i get the appeal."

JJK and its use of HYPE!

There has been a silly little "war" going on at Twitter lately about which series is better, My Hero Academia or Jujutsu Kaisen, with people trying to compare what are things that one series does better than the other.

I don't usually like this type of thing where we try to put something up by putting something else down, it always feels like trying to shame someone for liking what they like in order to validate what YOU like, as if you need to make sure everyone knows that the thing you like is superior so you will feel validated for enjoying it, which to me always sounds like insecurity.

(Heck, my all-time favorite manga is "Zatch Bell!", a series that literally nobody ever talks about, yet I don't feel the need to go around writing essays to convice people of its quality. I know why I like it and that's enough for me.)

However, in this case, this discussion did bring up a small point I want to talk about that I think it might be interesting, the way JJK uses "hype" in a way I don't really see MHA doing it. (Spoilers for JJK and MHA)

As always, I need to make it clear, I am not a JJK fan. I tried reading it, didn't felt like it was for me. And moved on.

But even as someone that doesn't love this series, I can't ignore its ability to generate hype. Something about the way this author writes this comic manages to make every single character in it look like the coolest person on the planet.

I was thinking about that when wondering why so many people were upset that characters kept dying in JJK but not so much in a series like Chainsaw Man, and I realzied why after reading this thread:

When a character dies in CSM, it's expected, because the way Fujimoto writes it makes each of them look pretty lame in their own way, while still being very likable and interesting as characters.

Even though you love these people, when they die, you just go "Yeah... Sounds about right."

In JJK, deaths are more upsetting cause the people in there are build-up like mad, and hyped up as if they were rock stars about to enter a stage.

When a character suddenly enters a fight, the readers will always go "OMFG! That character is entering the fight!!"

They just make these people look cooler and treat them like they're Superman arriving at the last second to save the day...

... And I was thinking to myself, I don't think My Hero really is that good at doing this.

Maybe this is just me, I don't know, but for some reason I just struggle a lot to feel hyped in My Hero. Even though I like/know these characters more, I vibe with this story and setting more, I dig these desgins and visuals and can actually understand the fight a lot more... But whenever they have their big "Oh, sh*t!" moments, I just don't get that excited.

I don't think I've been hyped for My Hero since the All Might vs. AFO fight, even when they do have scenes where you know you're meant to be excited, it just doesn't come for me.

I've been reading this latest arc of JJK due to curiosity from people constantly talking about it on social media and, even though I still don't know what the heck is happening most of the time or how each person's powers works (to this day I have no idea what the f*ck domain expasion even means), or what most of these people's backstories are, even though I'm so lost while trying to read this, I can still feel the emotion somehow.

The panel with Megumi at the bottom of a pit of darkness after the events that happened outside legit messed with me when I first saw it.

I reremember reading this and going "Jesus! Someone give this boy a hug!"

Now, I don't know why that is, and I'm not using this to say that JJK is better than MHA, after all, MHA did get me to read its whole series while JJK basically made me skip to its latest arc due to ocasianal lack of interest in its plot and events, but I do feel like JJK has a way of getting an emotion out of you that MHA doesn't seem to be as good at.

I don't know if it's because MHA struggles with making stakes feel real (like, I think you can count on one hand the number of times the villains won a fight), or if the emotion of the characters are just more relatable and easier to connect, or if the way the story is told makes it easier to get you hyped up, or what. I don't know what the secret formula is.

This is just me saying, I know everything that's happening in MHA and know very little of what's happening in JJK, and yet I still feel more hype from JJK than from MHA, and I think this might be an interesting thing to analyze and think about.

This is what these "Series A" vs. "Series B" should be about imo. Not trying to have one up the other, but trying to understand what they're doing and how they're doing it that makes them succeed of fail in one specifc narrative aspect.

I would honestly like to hear some opinions on this, maybe from people that do enjoy both series and understand both series enough to talk about what each excel and fails at without just trying to say one is better than the other.

My Hero fans, do you feel your series suceeds at generating hype? Am I alone in this? Do you feel complete emotional investment whenever a big moment arrives? Yes? No? And if not, why not?

The mysteries and mystery kids are really easy for me to love because the reason I love tbhk is because of them and the fact they are supernaturals ^^ so I really like all of them! But it's true that I do have favorites XD (and I like supernaturals but don't like Tsukasa at all and is meh with Sakura for now so idk :'))

My favorites characters are Akane, the Meis (I just can't choose I love both of them equally) and Kou :DD

And his view on supernaturals is really great to see, how honest he is with Hanako and his relationships with tons of characyers are really interesting to see

Especially since he is still a supernatural and have a lot of commons with them even if he is trying not to see them rip

I am kinda scared the fact he is half supernatural is not that useful because honestly AidaIro haven't used it that much since the beginning of the manga but I have some hope yay :D so yep I will describe more in my big text about him but I really like his concept yay

And the Meis omfg

I love them so so much. I am also finishing a text about them but they make me very emotionnal. They are the only characters here who have their arc mostly done and everything about it was so great! Human Mei makes me sad af and I love her so so much. With how much hope she has and how her view on art is important! And the perfect picture arc is one of my fav arc too because of how everything was made in this arc mostly thanks to both Meis!

Supernatural Mei is 👌👌👌👌 she is crazy af and a really great supernatural! Her powers are so so cool and her whole aesthetic makes me go insane

AND ALSO the strongest female character of the cast! SHE CAN FIGHT AND SHE ISN'T AFRAID OF HANAKO AND TSUKASA AND KDVJDJ (I am not against characters who don't have physical strength but others strength as psychological/emotionnal etc... but why is it always the female characters? :) Like I love Nene and Aoi but plzzzz, I would have loved if they could fight more tbh ahah mostly because all male leads can fight really well the difference is way too much for me ugh. So thank you Sumire, Mei and Yako for being here yay)

I used to really like Nene when I started the manga (I started following it around chapter 60) A lot of my earlier drawings where with her Akane and Kou (I really wanted to see them interact and they are REALLY SIMILAR in term of writings)

but I am really not fan about how she is written since chapter 75/76 unfortunately QvQ her character growth has been terrible and I really hope she will be better in the new chapters because I used to really like how funny and optimistic she was :0

I thought I'd make some comments about the first episode of "The Falcon and the Winter Soldier," kind of in the same way I made a post about my thoughts on the "WandaVision" season finale. I don't plan on doing a post with my thoughts, opinions, and theories for EVERY episode of TFatWS because a) I don't have that kind of time or patience, b) Things are probably going to change left and right as the series progresses, just like in "WandaVision" so I don't see a need to document all of this, c) I ramble enough as it is lol

Of course, there are spoilers under the cut, so if you haven't seen the first episode, then I suggest you...don't look under the cut! If you have seen the episode and just want to see what another MCU/Marvel fan thinks, or if you don't care about spoilers, then have at it.

I will say that the first episode of "The Falcon and the Winter Soldier" (I'm going to refer to it as TFatWS from now on because that title is long af) was good and brought forth lots of mystery and intrigue, but it didn't grab my attention quite as much as the first episode of "WandaVision." But this may be due to the fact that WV was just so bizarre right from the start, and there were tons of questions right out the door. So, the mystery (and confusion) was more intense than for TFatWS.

I still plan on finishing TFatWS, but I hope it picks up a little more in the next episodes.

Another thing I will mention that's really not much of a spoiler: Poor Bucky! Just like Wanda, he needs a damn break already 😭

And lastly, I haven't read any Marvel comics because I just don't have the time, energy, patience, sanity right now to devote to them. That, and I have always preferred manga (Berserk is still my favorite manga/graphic novel of all time. Hell, it's my favorite fictional story of all time! And the 90s anime is one of my favorite series ever). My Marvel knowledge is heavily based on what the MCU has provided, but I do know things that happen in the comics because I do read up on various comparisons between the comics and the MCU entries and people's theories based on the comics. So, I'm not completely clueless.

Ok, spoiler time!

I don't really have a list of things I liked and disliked for this first episode of TFatWS because it's just way too early for that kind of stuff, and who knows where the series is going to go from here. I'll just make a list of thoughts and opinions:

James "Bucky" Barnes/The Winter Soldier

POOR BUCKY! I mean, goddamn, this man can't get a break. We see just how much his time as a Hydra agent affected him, causing him to have nightmares about those he killed while brainwashed. He's closed himself off from others because he's depressed, burdened with immense guilt, and probably feels like he's not worth helping at this point.

I also like how we got to see just how negatively he was affected by being at war for so long. He'd be put into hibernation by Hydra, and awoke every time to go kill some people. Rinse and repeat. That was his life, which isn't much of a life if you ask me. The same happened when he was freed from their control and while it's understandable why he had to fight in "Infinity War" and "Endgame," it was clearly a lot for him to handle. He didn't get a lot of peace, and even now that things have settled, he still has no peace.

At first, I was wondering why Bucky was going out of his way to befriend his elderly neighbor, Mr. Nakashima since he wasn't associating with anyone else, not even Sam. Then we find out that Bucky was the one who murdered the old man's son why under Hydra control. He can't bring himself to tell Mr. Nakashima because it's too painful and he's too ashamed. He's trying to prepare for it, I suppose, by befriending the man, but at the same time, I don't think it's going to be less unpleasant to deliver the news.

I literally felt heartbroken for Bucky when I realized that he had killed Mr. Nakashima's son. Like, omfg, Bucky, this poor guy...he has to live with these painful memories of things he was forced to do and it's depressing to witness.

I know it seems weird that no one recognizes who Bucky is, but I have a theory on that: Those that do are people who actually know him or those who have seen his face at the Smithsonian. Those who don't recognize him may never have been to the museum or simply didn't remember his face. I mean, Captain America was the main focus of the exhibit, and he was in the public eye all the time, so Bucky could easily be forgotten. Also, after the Blip, people clearly have had a lot to deal with after being missing for several years while the rest of the world put itself back together. Bucky is the least of their concerns.

Sam Wilson/Falcon

Sam, our good boy Sam. I was expecting him to keep Captain America's shield, even if he didn't use it right away. I mean, I know in "Endgame" he said it feels like it belongs to someone else, but I thought he'd change his mind and keep it. But he ends up donating it to the Captain America exhibit, which was unfortunate. I mean, I understand why, and I thought, "Well, he can just go grab it later" but then...well, that's going to be discussed later.

I was glad Sam kept trying to reach out to Bucky despite how things seemed very tense between them before. I can understand why he didn't just visit in person because that would have overwhelmed Bucky. I am suffering from severe depression and I know how difficult it can be to have a surprise guest attempt to make chit chat. Not fun.

We find out how Sam's sister has been trying to make ends meet during the Blip. Things aren't going well financially for her, and she is considering selling their father's boat to bring in some much-needed funds. Sam tries to help by convincing her to go to a bank and take out a loan. He hopes that his status could help influence the bank's decision as well.

But that isn't in the cards. The bank can't approve the loan because now there are regulations post-Blip regarding such matters. Not even Sam's status as Falcon -- an AVENGER -- amounts to much. Then the accountant awkwardly behaved like a fanboy during the whole meeting, even going so far as to ask for a selfie from Sam during the most inconvenient moment. This scene shows, to me, that being an Avenger doesn't change everything, yet, they're still famous and loved (for the most part). It's a strange feeling: "We love you guys for all you've done, but yeah, we can't really help you out."

I'm glad Marvel is choosing to show the negative effects of the Blip. It's great everyone returned but...everyone literally popped back into existence. We saw some of this chaos in "WandaVision," and we're seeing more in TFatWS. It's a realistic approach because, like, yeah, people being gone for several years, presumed forever missing then suddenly reappearing out of thin air is pretty extreme. Not to mention, those who returned didn't always find their loved ones and friends waiting for them (i.e. Monica's mother died during the Blip)

Flag Smasher

Not much to say here other than we have a new villain to watch out for who clearly has superhuman abilities. The cause that his group stands for threatens to make things even worse post-Blip than they already are, and geez, give people a break already! But you always have fanatics that will terrorize others for a cause.

Captain America 2.0

Who is this random white boy and why is he the new Captain America? I know who he is from the comics but that doesn't make it any better. It just makes it worse! This guy's going to be a disaster, clearly.

Sam realized at that moment he fucked up by giving the shield away, but this can only mean he'll find a way to retrieve and -- hopefully -- take up the Captain America mantle. Captain Falcon? Captain America Falcon? Captain Falcon America? I suppose you can have fun with that.
