why are people antagonizing them this badly? seriously i don't get it. they were children when the accident happened and gameplay shows that both of them got shittons of trauma

it was an accident. looking at the incident, i firmly believe it was very seriously fucked up, and they weren't in the right state of mind when it happened. consider the situation, the person you love most in the world is gone forever. in this situation, sunny completely closes in on himself and creates headspace. basil on the other hand sees sunny (his childhood best friend and the one he describes as 'perfect' and puts on a pedestal) completely having a mental breakdown. basil panics, not knowing what to do, because both of the people he idolize is gone - mari is dead, a part of sunny died with her. obviously he has a mental breakdown figuring out what to do, too?

obviously we should also consider basil's mental state at this point - pure speculation here, but basil, due to his feminine gender expression, would have been a victim of bullying, and the gang would have been his first friends. and basil photographs things he cherishes. that would mean he sees himself losing his friends when mari dies because sunny is most likely gonna be legally convicted of manslaughter right? in his disoriented, panicked mind, he wanted to protect sunny, the friend he most likely did have feelings for but was unable to admit them due to already being bullied, (that's just my hc dw) and did something that is super fucked up — he did more harm than good, but i believe he was just trying to fix everything back the way it was. we're absolutely going to talk about why Basil knows how to tie a noose, which adds to my point — basil might already have been mentally unwell (no doubt taking more shit from life than one is supposed to) BEFORE he met his friends, and he was desperately trying to salvage what little happiness he had left.

i cannot deny that sunnflower has full potential of being a very unhealthy and toxic relationship, but i might add that the true + secret ending has both Somethings disappear, implying that both of them are capable of healing. thats why i ship them manyyearsafter-canon or AU, bc therapy can fix shit ive seen it myself

Pairing them together is the implication that they are able to completely heal from their trauma, the actual dynamics of their relationship isn't toxic, it was the circumstances of their interactions combined with the context of the event itself. Sunny and Basil aren't permanently fucked up, I'd say it's quite harmful to imply that people are forever broken and can never truly recover. Considering the choices in the game are about confronting, accepting, and moving on from guilt and trauma, the best scenario for both Sunny and Basil, is if they were truly able to let go and not become triggers for each other, which is illustrated by them being unaffected by the potential toxicity of their past.

Okay, since ive been getting a lot of love for my ary lately, id like to give you guys some top ary blogs ive followed for years, that i feel they dont get enough love.

Keep in mind that these are not in order from best to least, just in numbered order to make things easy.

(Another thing! While i may have found the majority of these blogs from undertale content, i need you to understand that a lot of these either dont do undertale art as frequently as they used to, or not at all. 1. @springbon-t-art /@thecoolerspringbon-t has WONDERFUL roundhouse like style, and her fanart and characters range from all over(cuphead and bendy and the ink machine are just two examples, she has so much more unrecognized works and animatics on youtube that i think deserves much more love)

2. @twitchydoodle i havent visted this wonderful blog in a while, but i have followed for a good time(lets just say for a few years lol) so i cant say for sure what art is posted there at this moment, HOWEVER, i CAN say that twitchy has a Breathtaking art style, and has some of the most interesting and fleshed out ocs!!! Definitely check em out!

3. @calcium-cat i know cals been gettin a little bit more attention over the last year or so, but i still think she deserves much more recognition for her art. She has wonderful and thought out fanfics, not to mention the funny and well drawn fanart she posts for them!

4. @glitchysquidd I dont pop in as often as i used to, but glitchy's blog is one ive looked up to for a while. Here you can find very well written fnaf fics and fanart, chill energ(not to mention hilarious shenanigans),and a very unique and distinct artstyle.(seriously broski ive used your art for reference so many time 😭🤚🏽-). I suggest you guys head down to the basement and enjoy the tour.

5. @meatygutsy oh gee where do i even start- this blog has some of the most unique and well thought out ocs i think ive seen in a very long time. The artstyle here and style of coloring and shading is like nothing else. All of the colors pop and go together just right, not to mention the well fleshed out backstorys of each character.

6.@glaucus22 while this blog certainly isnt as active as it used to be, this is yet another artist that ive used as reference for countless times. They have a very distinct artstyle, and put much thought into their characters and their lore. I highly recommend going through the art tags here and taking a peek, along with a reblog or two!!!

7. @ijustwannahavefunn another blog with VERY well thought out and styled ocs, and a to die for artstyle. I also recommend checkjng out their youtube channel, which has VERY smooth animations and animatics. Definitely a hidden gem.

8. @vrnicky is a very good friend of mine that is WAY WAY WAY too unrecognized. They dont get NEARLY enough love for the anount of love and hard work they out into their characters and art. Please show em some love for me!!!

9. @loupy-mongoose is a favorite pokemon ary blog of mine. While you might find mostly mewtwo and mew stuff, please know that this is because of this creators mewtwo comic. You may know what im takling about if you know about similar more popular blogs (@/xxtc-96xx @/mewtwoandme and more ) but what separates this blog from many others is their very very different story, and an artstyle that'll put you at ease. Not to mention unique and well thought out mew and mewtwo designs.

And lastly, for now at least ,10. @whiteartblood an art blog that i havent visted in a couple months. This creator has some of the best undertale art i swear. One of my favorite styles!! A very lovely and instantly recognizable artstyle(that again, i have used for reference...i dont even know how many times), and even better ocs.

Now i know there are so many more blogs that are deserving of recognition, but its late and i cant look up 50 usernames at the moment.

However, while you are not obligated to, I sincerely hope you go show these guys some love(and reblogs!!!!!!!) For me. These guys have been a very big influence on my art, artists ive looked up to for YEARS now, and luckly for me some of them even being friends of mine, which im so very thankful for.

Ill definitely be making another post like this, with more writing inclusion and even more deeply hidden gems that require some digging.

Favorite thing about him... probably his character arc? I really enjoy seeing his journey going from someone horribly insecure with himself and full of self loathing into someone who can overcome that and look to the future... so so good I eat that shit up. Hamilton was definitely a secondary special interest of mine for id say a year or two! Made sure my entire family was very aware (forced my mom to watch the entire musical in animatics, played the music constantly in the car, even got my brother to like it a little bit) but now ii... YESSSS, thank you so much!! im actually gonna use a readmore cuz this is gonna be LONG u can also talk to me abt any of my general headcanons or w/e, ive been a homestuck since like 2011 and lived through homestuck canon rp tumblr + the end of the series so i have Opinions^tm

my s/i for my GHB selfship is actually a troll that i lazily gave my own name (Auriel Soleil, since it fits in with the 6/6) but their title is the Producer! they're running a colony thats focused on stripping planets of their resources and registering trolls for those types of jobs, as well as training subjugs on how to successfully control and maintain order by assigning them managerial jobs over these trolls.

they originally started out as a Barzum/Baizli ancestor, but they only have Baizlis sign and part of their backstory is that prior to Ascension they were a very well trained laughassasin who had twin matesprits/kismesis that were psionic inventors, who were eventually culled due to some unknown circumstance(possibly a dispute over patent rights, they were not told)

the way they met GHB was post-ascension they had a prior mentor who was rather cocky about their abilities as they were chosen as one of the best out of their Ascension group, who brought them to a 'party' that he was also attending. at some point, someone spiked their drink with something that was a very intense stimulant, and apparently the carnage that ensued after made the Highblood so entertained that he basically told their mentor to fuck off and decided to have them work for him.

at some point they were 'gifted' the colony and attained their title, but the actual point where they became involved with him was over time they began talking more outside of mandatory reviews. they struggled very much with accepting any feelings for him, many pillows were bunny kicked in anger and frustration, but eventually he asked them to visit them and, as a mild germaphobe, spent the first day of that visit scrubbing him clean and giving him physical care.

as for my thoughts on GHB, he is a big scary man who enjoys terrorizing people, and is actually quite (morbidly) funny and likes being around people who are also like that. i DON'T think he likes the Empress or any seadwellers whatsoever, though he obviously understands that his place in the hierarchy offers him more benefit than it would if he turned against the empire.

i also think hes much like Kurloz, hes not a loud man unless hes angry or wanting to actually frighten someone and he is actually quite well composed and socially aware, able to read people very well through observation alone. he is very devoted to his religion, far more than his loyalty to the Empire, and is very strict about the rituals and rules that come with it when it comes to his self discipline.

my opinions on Kurloz as a separate entity is 'hot, terrifying, tore his tongue out for hurting his gf and drank respect women juice.' hes also how i got my girlfriend to be open to more clown stuff and now she f/os like a bunch of clowns, so thank u for ur service in making my gf sorta like clowns. you walked so i could wear facepaint without making her shit her pants.

majority of my headcanons when it comes to clown church is that the kids on Alternia fundamentally misunderstand the actual full scope of the religion itself- even those Ascending like Chahut and Marvus will not have experienced the real world of how the church works, much like how children don't understand the corruption of churches irl.

facepaint is sacred and unique. it must be applied a specific way, with specific tools, and to be seen without face paint is a major faux pas to say the least. only the troll themselves and their moirail/trusted quadrantmate should remove their face paint, in private and with a special cloth and removal materials.

culling is not something that you do on the daily, and its meant to be done in a way that either is funny, 'accidental' blind rage, or in a sacrificial manner during festivals or other such congregational meetings.

i do believe that the church, as an entity, is inherently abusive in this way even if its individual members are not. highbloods are given a lot more leniency, but this doesn't mean that the internal workings of the church itself aren't rife with judgement and personal misgivings about how someone behaves or appears.

having 'minor' deformities that wouldn't get you culled by the empire can be seen as bad, such as polydactyly which normally might not get you culled, but you will receive ridicule for it as 'its funny' which is a common thing to do similar to hazing where a newly recruited subjug will be scrutinized and have their nickname become their 'church name' and something they'll be called until they either leave that colony/congregation, or until they do something that makes them 'funnier' than having a rude nickname.
