Okay, so I have some thoughts on One Piece 1060!

So Zoro is once again reminding the crew exactly what his role is. Keeping Luffy from running off and doing something incredibly dumb. Zoro doesn’t tell Luffy ‘no’ very often. He very rarely tells the crew what they are going to do, but when he does he means every word and everyone listens, albeit very grumpy about it. Zoro is right though, even if the others don’t want to hear it. Right now the Strawhats have their own journey and they have NO LEADS. Like Robin points out, there has been no clues to the location for the last road ponyglyph. And Luffy wants to go off on a different journey that also has no clues. There is no hint where Vivi is, no hints where Sabo is. They are traveling blind on all these things, but Vivi and Sabo aren’t weak damsel’s in distress. They are strong fighters who can take care of themselves until the Strawhats get any clues how to help them. Zoro didn’t say they can’t help at all, he said there is no point on going onto another wild goose chase where they are likely to be no help to anyone. And after seeing the wisdom in Zoro’s words the crew reluctantly agree. Not before insulting Zoro for putting logic before emotion.

I am glad the Strawhats are getting caught up on information because the world has had a significant number of changes while they were in isolation. Then Luffy drops a bomb on the crew. Being the King of the Pirates isn’t Luffy’s goal. It��s a stepping stone to his actual goal! Now we have had two hints about this before. The first was Luffy telling young Ace and Sabo to their shock and amusement. The second was the fact that Roger had said his goal to Whitebeard and Oden, who had the same reactions that Ace and Sabo did. Whatever Roger’s goal was is the same as Luffy’s. We only know this because Shanks told Rayleigh that Luffy said the same things as Roger did.

The crew had different reactions to Luffy’s goal, Sanji and Usopp both even implying Luffy is insane. However the crew accepts Luffy’s goal. It’s interesting that this is the first anyone in the crew has heard of it because Luffy has been proven again and again to not be able to keep any kind of secret. Luffy is just as surprised that his crew didn’t know, expressing that he thought he told them about it. Whatever the true goal of Luffy’s is, it is something that is insane, something only a ‘child like mind’ could come up with, and something that would enable the world to be a more ‘free’ place.

However this chapter wasn’t just about the Strawhats and their crazy antics.

We go back to Sabo’s call to Momoiro Island. Apparently Sabo is at Lulusia Kingdom, which is close to Momoiro Island and is the home of that spoiled princess Komane who was rescued by Helmeppo when Koby was stopping a torpedo from hitting Dressrosa’s ship. It was also the home of Moda, who befriended Ace and had Ace deliver a message about milk to her parents at the nearby Marine base G-2. It was also the location that we met the Revolutionary Army main leaders when they save Moda and led the people into a revolution to overthrow their royal family.

Apparently after fleeing the Reverie, Sabo hid out here as it is one of the eight kingdoms they recently helped overthrow. We see the revolution remained, as the citizens arrested Seki and Komane upon their return. Sabo informs the revolutionary army that he had nothing to do with Cobra, something Luffy, Robin, and many others already knew. He also tries to inform them about Im, who Sabo discovered the existence of.

While Sabo is trying to get this message out however, it is intercepted by the Marines. They report it to the Five Star’s, who order the marines to forget it ever happened. While that is going on Im crosses the country off the map, and the Five Stars say it never existed. We then see the entire island is obliterated in a moment.

So first, the question is did Sabo’s information get to the Revolutionaries before the connection was cut off. Then was Sabo actually on the island when it was destroyed. While I give no cares about the royal family, I am upset that Moda and Sabo are quite possibly dead now! Moda was such a sweet girl and to have her killed like that is heart wrenching. To think she saved Ace but was killed because Ace’s brother was thought to be hiding in her country. And just so soon after gaining her freedom from such an oppressive royal family. And Sabo too. We just got Sabo back and now he is possibly dead!

Also was this the first sight of Uranus? It makes sense as Uranus is likely a weapon from the sky. It also makes an interesting question that others have asked is this how God Valley got wiped out? And is it possible Enis Lobby was constructed to hide the remains of God Valley and the damage left behind from Uranus destruction? That also leads to the horrifying thought that while 1 weapon is buried under Wano and 1 is in the hands of our Allies in the form of Shirohoshi, that 1 weapon is currently in the hands of Im.

We then jump to two days later with the Strawhats who are in a winter environment with a strange weather phenomenon nearby. Nami and Jinbei are focused on keeping everyone alive but Chopper gets blown off the ship! Luffy tries to catch him but instead gets pulled off as well to Usopp’s horror. While that is going on, Sanji has noticed a woman in the strange water formation (something Luffy initially noticed but Luffy is no longer on the ship so…) and Zoro decides to cut her free. When he does, we find it is Jewelry Bonny!

Okay, there’s a lot to unpack here. First Luffy and Chopper are in trouble and we should probably address that soon. In addition Zoro has returned his debt to Bonny from Sabody so I guess they are even now. And now we have Bonny on the ship. Why was she out there? Better question is do we have any idea where exactly we are relative to other locations?

Bonny is a very mysterious character. First is that her bounty has nearly tripled from the two years. Now two years ago she was captured by Blackbeard to trade with the Workd Government for a ship. Why would they be willing to do that for her? And they sent Akinu to get her and her crew, and Akinu said he was RELIEVED they had her again. Like what?!?! Somehow Bonny escaped and decided to infiltrate the Reverie as the Queen Dowager Conny of Sorbet Kingdom. Sorbet is part of the South Blue, where Bonny is from, and was a country that Kuma once ruled. She was intending to free Kuma, but instead he is with Dragon now.

Now here is where speculation starts. Bonny has a possible connection to Vegapunk through Kuma. And Franky, whose wanted posters has been messed up since the time skip also has a connection to Vegapunk. And Vegapunks home was a winter island…so maybe Vegapunk is finally going to make an appearance in the upcoming arc? Or we are nearDragon and the rest? No idea but I am very excited what the addition of Bonny to the main story line is going to bring!

Hesitantly, reluctantly, Galene took a bite of the fruit he was holding. Admittedly, he had no idea what he was doing so he did his best to imitate the way he had seen the farmer do it. The skin was much tougher than he had anticipated and he had to really push into it in order to break it. Once he did, he found the flesh to be crisp and wet. A subtle, sickly aroma met his nostrils almost immediately and he tasted sweetness as a very small amount of the juice sprayed onto his tongue. He pulled the fruit back and let the piece fall onto his tongue before chewing it. At first, it was overwhelmingly sweet. Because he’d taken such a small bite, it was mostly skin and he continued chewing it for some time. The skin was tough and the more he chewed it, the more the initial sweetness embittered in his mouth.

“That started as the sweetest thing I’ve ever tasted,” he exclaimed after swallowing the first bite. “But it didn’t stay sweet for very long.” After a short pause, he added, “You try one,” gesturing toward Faor.

Faor frowned. “Me?” he asked and, after Galene nodded, he cautiously walked toward the tree and picked one of the red fruits that hung within reach.

Galene and the other two Komans watched attentively as Faor slowly brought the fruit to his mouth. Before he even his first bite, his face twisted into a frown. He clearly didn’t want to try it.

“Go on!” said Oshéi, bemused by his apparent trepidation.

“I don’t like sweet food,” grunted Faor. “And I don’t like trying new things.”

“Give it to me then,” said Oshéi, laughing and thrusting her hand forward. Naon laughed along with her and Galene smiled.

“No!” Faor exclaimed angrily. “Galene asked me to try it and I will do as he says!” And with that, he thrust the fruit toward his mouth and swiftly took one enormous bite from it, his face locked in a tight frown. As he chewed and swallowed the fruit, his expression barely changed.

“Well?” asked Galene when he was done. “What did you think?” Faor didn’t respond immediately. He was still grimacing. Then his expression softened slightly. “That wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be,” he said in his usual growling tone. “I—I might even have liked it. A little. Just a little.”

Coming from Faor, that was high praise as far a Galene was concerned. The two of them had grown up together and Faor had rarely admitted to having liked anything.

Kyōmai

An event of legendary proportions, the Kyōmai is an event that’s seldom been staged over the years, with the last one taking place 19 years ago! Unlike a normal odori, this one takes place at the National Theatre in Tokyo and features the masters of Inoue Kyōmai together on stage. It is one of the rare instances where Yachiyo Inoue will dance in public, and her pieces are always the highlight of the event. Also unlike odori, each performance features different pieces, so you could see all 3 of them and be treated to a new experience! Kyōmai will be taking place on November 29th and 30th at the National Theatre in Tokyo. Since I already did this game once with my main blog URL, I hope you won’t mind me doing this with my Black Sails sideblog (which is rather abandoned atm but I promise I haven’t forgotten it and I’ll start posting there again eventually I don’t know to whom I talking to maybe the 2-3 people who follow me both here and there lol)... the name is also longer, so more songs yay (as if you were asking that lmao)!! ;)

Andante, andante - Lily James (Mamma mia! 2 OST) // all right, I didn’t mean to return to my Mamma mia! obsession phase - it was bad enough when the first movie got out - but I got to listen to one song (which was not this one, but another song about a student kissing her teacher, rather creepy if you think about it but the music is so engaging it’s still stuck in my head, damn it) by chance and started roaming through the soundtrack of this sequel (which I haven’t seen yet tbh, actually by choice since I already know a thing about the story that upsets me a lot, but I guess I’ll eventually watch it because the songs aren’t bad, though I’ve had the impression that the level of silliness is not even close to the first movie and that’s what I actually enjoyed about it in the first place :p ) and I got to listen to this song and :’) - I’m not even one for love songs but this is so sweet and warm and intimate and Lily James’ voice is delightful so yeah, another one bound to be stuck in my head for days! also it doesn’t help that I’ve been thinking about Philinda slow dancing to this song I have a HUGE problem

Never give up on your dreams - Two Steps From Hell // HA, my mandatory TSFH mention when I talk about music! XD (and be grateful it’s the only one as I tried to make the list varied) One of my favourites (mh, I say that A LOT regarding TSFH but oh well :p ), so moving and epic and heart-lifting, I’m undone whenever I listen to this, like, I can’t function, it’s almost too much for me! :’)

Amazing grace - J2 (feat. Chelsea Caroline) // Oh, I love J2′s covers of songs, they’re so badass!! This is a more pop-rock/epic rendition than the usual hymn, but I find it great, and the singer’s voice is powerful and rich!

Taking the hobbits to Isengard - Erwin Beekveld // I legit have this song in my music playlist - I mean, how could I not?! XD This will NEVER be outdated and not legendary!!

I’ve no more fucks to give - Thomas Benjamin Wild. Esp. // About this song I’m just going to say LIFE GOALS!!! This is the level I aspire to achieve hands down!

Only happy when it rains - Garbage // I blame the Captain Marvel soundtrack for bringing back this song, which rocks and sometimes is also a BIG mood!!

Northern lights - Gaelic Storm // aaaaaaand Gaelic Storm is another band that tends to pop up when I get to speak about music! I love, love, LOVE this song, it’s so touching and enchanting and soothing and, dare I say, romantic... <33

One day - Hans Zimmer // catch me crying whenever I hear this goddamn piece... especially the godforsaken end, man... you know the scene when it plays... ;_______;

Fat bottomed girls - Red Hot Chilli Pipers // whoo hoo, catch me headbanging and dancing all around at this!! I love the original song, of course, but this version with BAGPIPES!!!!!!!! INSTANT LOVE, it was!!!! (well, it does good on my self-esteem a bit as well, since I think I can consider myself a part of this “category” of ladies celebrated by the song ;) )

Today we rise - Luke Youngblood (Galavant OST) // have I begged you today to watch this show??!! This is one of my absolute FAVOURITES in the whole soundtrack and I get to sing along proudly every chance I get (which happens basically when I’m alone, since I have to skip this soundtrack while I’m outside in public because if I listened to it I would surely start smiling and giggling like an idiot and people would certainly think me mad) ... lol, Sid always complained about never having the opportunity to do a proper performance and in the end he was given one of the most brilliant songs to sing!!! :D I’m almost, ALMOST tempted to follow him into battle - surely I’ll sing the hell out of it until the end, only to likely hide with the other peasants because well, once you think about what you’re singing you’re not exactly encouraged to pursue!! XD

Helvegen - Wardruna // wow, this song always sends me chills down my spine, so haunting and enchanting!!!

In the end - 2WEI // I blame AOS season 6′s trailer for making me listen to this, although I already heard other pieces of 2WEI... What can I say, I’m rather drawn to epic covers of songs (although I still love the original song to bits)...

El tango de Roxanne - Ewan McGregor, Jacek Koman, José Feliciano (Moulin Rouge OST) // I rewatched the movie not long time ago and this song never fails to fuck me up, I always arrive at the end choked up... I love the soundtrack of this movie!

Vespertine (My crimson bride) - Kamelot // Can’t explain why, but this song, rather than being a fucking WONDER, has also been an anchor for me when my grandmother died... I don’t know really why it kept playing in my head during that period, but it was actually a soothing balm for my wounded heart and my broken thoughts, so I’m really grateful to it for keeping me steady (well, as steady as I could have been in that circumstance)... I love this song (and its album) to bits!!!

Everybody needs somebody to love - The Blues Brothers // This song (and its soundtrack and movie) is a sure antidote to sadness for me, nothing more to say!!

Sailing for adventure (on the big blue wet thing XD) - Muppet Treasure Island OST // let’s end on a VERY serious note, shall we?! Yep, I totally have this song on my phone and every time I listen to it I feel like I could embark on a ship and sail away! (though I’m rather sure I’d end up joining the two “figureheads” singing “should have took the train!” because I may get sea sick or something XD ) Can we appreciate the human actors singing along though?! Well, apart from the marvelous Tim Curry, of course...

Plot Summary:

Hellboy listens to the story of Makoma, a giant slayer in Africa, as told by a mummy who bore witness to some of the hero’s deeds and was freed by them.

Reading Notes:

(Note: Pagination does not represent anything within the issues or collections themselves, it is solely in reference to the chapter.)

pg. 1 - Love the establishing shot for the Explorers’ club. And the old-time diving helmet that almost seems a staple of all of these groups.

pg. 1-2 - The story of the expedition to the lost city is interesting, but it’s more telling that Hellboy cares about the Professors’s life, whereas Koman only cares about gaining more loot from antiquity.

pg. 3 - I like how it dovetails into the disappearance of Trevor Bruttenholm and the Cavendish expedition, with this being one of the first historical stories that fits within already established timelines and events.

Also, love young Hellboy.

pg. 4 - The colours that Dave Stewart is using for the flashback are beautiful. Nice soft purple that gives the entire sequence an ephemeral feel.

The small Hellboy figure reminds me of George Herriman.

pg. 5 - It’s always interesting when Hellboy is transported away by an experience not witnessed by those around him.

Also, again, the colours are just gorgeous.

pg. 6 - Wonderful layout. The statues and architecture from Mignola are just amazing. Really enhancing the idea that the mummy’s story is transporting Hellboy elsewhere.

pg. 7 - And Hellboy drifts off to sleep. The structure and content of this story also reminds me of Antoine de Saint-Exupéry’s Le Petit Prince for some reason.

pg. 8 - Interesting that Hellboy would be Makoma.

Also, just look at the use of shadow and colour for the reveal of Makoma. Though we know what Hellboy looks like, it’s impressive enough as though we’re seeing him again for the first time. Richard Corben and Dave Stewart really complement one another well.

pg. 10 - The commands for the various quests always seem very strange.

pg. 11 - “To wander... Days... Months... Years...” begins a clever little narrative trick that Mignola’s going to use throughout the story of repetition and the passage of time. It takes the overall theme of cycles and presents it in its most basic form, working in the idea even when you’re not aware of it.

pg. 12 - The design for the first giant, working off a rhino, is incredible.

Also, I love Clem Robins’ sound effects. Working them in as part of the panel is a nice touch. It gives the impression that the “CRAK” is loud enough to even break the bounds of the panel.

pg. 14 - That idea of repetition also comes back through the gathering of the various giants into his sack.

pg. 15 - The elephant-giant is another great design. I also love how lush Corben is drafting the wildlife and flora. It’s just beautiful.

And Mignola poking fun at the idea of putting all of these creatures, even miniaturized after Makoma absorbs their strength, into his sack.

pg. 16 - This one reminds me more of Abe than your average frog monster. I wonder if that was intentional.

pg. 17-18 - Wonderful fight sequence. It’s a testament to the storytelling that though repetition is part of the theme, it never seems boring.

pg. 19 - Another great design for the fire demon/salamander here. The play between shadow and colour is incredible.

pg. 20-21 - Another stunning fight sequence.

pg. 22 - And there’s the temptation, of Makoma becoming Anung Un-Rama. It makes you wonder, though, if this is Hellboy’s transference of his destiny to the Makoma tale or if we’re to take it as though Makoma is a previous incarnation of Hellboy’s spirit, or whatever. I’d kind of lean towards the latter, since the overall theme of this story is repetitive cycles.

pg. 23 - And then we get the renunciation, similar to Hellboy’s own when faced with the choice.

pg. 24 - The “Makoma is great” chant from the fallen giants in his sack is hilarious every time.

pg. 25 - Gorgeous establishing shots.

pg. 27 - Corben reminding us that he’s as adept at the grotesque as anything else.

pg. 28 - Dude’s idea of bliss is messed up. Who would think being a slave or “the endless, dreamless sleep of living death” would be appealing to anyone? I think he’s been out getting baked with his giant sand ants for too long, huffing the fumes from the decomposing flesh of his pals.

pg. 29 - These ants are just neat.

pg. 30-31 - The trick in order to keep the bag is pretty clever.

pg. 32 - There’s the repetition of cycles through passage of time again. It’s also kind of creepy as the bones begin to pile up.

pg. 33 - And we’re brought full circle to the old woman who commanded him to stick the giants in a sack at the beginning of the tale.

pg. 34 - Who apparently wants sex with Makoma. That’s an unexpected direction, definitely. And she’s not an evil, soul-stealing witch either.

pg. 35 - The repetition again in a slightly different form of Makoma meeting the spirit of Africa, similar to how Hellboy did when he was a kid, is a nice touch. Also, the lions similar to how Hellboy was confronted by them in “The Third Wish”.

pg. 36 - The giants’ fate is horrifying, heartbreaking, even as the old woman tells Makoma what she’s done, and the look on his face is priceless.

pg. 37 - The tears are creepy.

pg. 38 - And the dropping of the glamour, or whatever, that made the old woman look young is a great composition.

Although it is an interesting touch that the giants sacrificed themselves to give the last of their strength to Makoma to face the final battle.

pg. 39 - I just love everything about these three panels. The build-up to the final confrontation is simple, but astounding. Great use of negative space through the bones.

pg. 40 - Makoma vs. The Dragon. Hellboy vs. the Ogdru Jahad. The design for the Dragon is also incredible.

pg. 41-43 - Epic battle.

pg. 44 - And then a shift, from looking like Hellboy in appearance to how you’d probably naturally expect Makoma to look.

pg. 45 - Death and rebirth, and a resumption of the cycle.

pg. 46 - Interesting revelation as to who the mummy is.

pg. 47 - Poor mummy.

Also, I love the repetition of Hellboy’s shocked look by Mignola of the similar panel earlier from Corben when he found out what he’d eaten.

pg. 48 - The matter-of-fact end title cards are hilarious.

Final Thoughts:

“Makoma” kind of has an interesting place in the Hellboy canon in that it blends main narrative themes and concepts with the one-off nature of the various fables and folk tale retellings as well as the bits and pieces of Hellboy’s history to create a story that encapsulates pretty much all of Hellboy in microcosm. If you only wanted to read a single Hellboy tale to get the gist of the broader whole, it would be this one.

It’s a tale that parallels the through line in the main narrative of Ragnarok. Of death and rebirth, of cyclical recurrences, and of destiny and breaking it.

It’s also the first with legendary artist, Richard Corben, proving with every panel as to why he’s a master. Corben is great with weird and horror, but also with presenting, well, just about anything. This was the start of a number of collaborations between Mignola and Corben, with Corben almost becoming the face of the Hellboy history stories for a while (just as Duncan Fegredo would for the present as we’ll see in Darkness Calls).

One Piece Birthdays: Honorable Mentions

One Piece has hundreds of characters, and over the past year I’ve celebrated the birthdays of only about a few hundred or so of them. So I’d like to take the time to mention every One Piece character without a birthday. Some don’t have birthdays because they’ve debuted too recently, some have no birthdays because they have been forgotten. Some have no birthdays because we haven’t gotten to that yet, even though they’ve existed for a long time and we remember them. To start off with, I will mention every character that exists within the canon that have names. Some you’ll remember. Some you won’t recognize, but if I showed you a picture of them you’d be like “Oh yeah that guy”. And then some of them you won’t have any recollection of, and I can’t blame you for it. Today, we will honor your memories, and hope that one day, Eiichiro Oda gives you a birthday.

I did this so that you can simply search their names on the One Piece Wiki and learn about them, if any interest you. However, a couple of them are so obscure that they don’t even have their own pages, in which case you will only be able to fine them here.

Next we will honor all non-canon characters. These characters appeared in filler, movies, specials, OVAs, one-shots, video games, or any other material that was officially made but not part of the manga. These characters are gaurunteed to never get a birthday, and that is a curse they bear. Now some non-canon characters, such as Gion and Tokikake, debut in non-canon and then later appear in canon, making them canon characters, and thus giving them a chance to have a birthday. However, this is such a rare case, that I wouldn’t count on it, especially for non-canon characters that debuted years ago.

Lastly, I want to honor all characters, canon and non-canon, with no names. The majority of these characters are just extras that only appeared in one panel or shot. But there’s a couple that are actually memorable, such as that one guy that was in Spandine’s group, or the masked CP-0 members. Some of these people can actually get names eventually. For example, Don Quixote Mjosgard was a nameless character for the longest time, until in the Reverie he became important and was given a name. I cannot list these nameless characters, as they have no names, but I do still want to honor them, and hope that one day they will be given names and have birthdays.

Chapter 14: Old Springdale

They hopped off the train and looked at the area that was the Springdale of the past.

Woah! It looks completely different, but it still feels like we're back home somehow...

The group walked to the nearest quiet area where there wasn't a lot of people and started discussing things with their Yo-kai companions.

"Okay, we just need to pick up two marbles, two Swirly Bells, and head to Timer's and More to look for a watch base...okay, what the heck am I reading here? This is all that we need to pick up? The watch base I understand, but the other two items seem a little random."

"Are you honestly questioning how a device that lets you communicate with Yo-kai works? I mean, I'm not an expert on the Yo-kai Watch, but I'm fairly sure that those parts are important."

Whisper looked at his Yo-kai Pad for a moment before turning to Hovernyan.

"Hovernyan? Do you happen to have a map of this place?"

Oh right...the internet and wifi weren't invented yet. Whisper can't get a map for us with his Yo-kai Pad.

Thankfully, Hovernyan did have a map on him and after he circled a few things on the map, he handed it to Whisper.

"Thanks, Hovernyan."

Whisper ran his finger over the map, mumbling to himself as he marked down possible pathways to hopefully make this easier and quicker for them while also trying to account for any unexpected changes they might run into.

"Okay, we'll head to the shrine since that's where the Swirly Bells are and then to Timer's and More to look for watch bases...nothing about where to pick up these apparently important marbles, though..."

Hovernyan shrugged and gave them a sheepish expression.

"Sorry, I know who has them, but I don't know where he is at the moment. He tends to wander around a lot, so tracking him down isn't easy."

"Friend of yours?"

"Yeah. A very good friend of mine."

Hovernyan didn't go beyond that as he lead the way to the shrine where the Swirly Bells could be obtained.

Komajiro tugged Komasan's arm to get his attention as the group followed Hovernyan.

"Hmm? Yes, Komajiro?"

"Something just occured to me. Didn't our older brothers mention giving out bells when they were our age whenever they were traveling around and staying at the local shrines?"

Komasan had to think for a few minutes before he realized what Komajiro was implying.

"Are you saying that there's a good chance that we're about to run into our older brothers?"

Komajiro nodded as Komasan muttered,

"I was afraid you were going to say that, zura."

As they approached the shrine, they noticed that Komasan and Komajiro were acting a little odd, whispering to each other about something.

"Hey, Koma Bros. Are you guys okay?"

"Yeah...but I think it would be best if we just waited here for you."

"Yep, you'll find out why when you get up there, zura."

They don't sound scared, but why else would they don't want to come with us? Unless...

"Did you two live in this area in the past? Are we about to meet you two and that's why you don't want to be there?"

"Actually, no. We were still too young to leave the Yo-kai Realm around this time. You're actually about to meet our older brothers before they became Komane and Komiger."

"Is that a bad thing?"

"No, it's just that our auras are similar enough to their own auras to identify ourselves as family members and we want to avoid making things more confusing than they already are."

"Well, we can't leave you guys alone. What if a Wicked Yo-kai tries to hurt you while we're gone?"

"I'll stay with them. Like I told you, my aura isn't very subtle and the less Yo-kai that can identify me as an Enma, the less Yo-kai that are in danger."

"Just be careful, Lucas. There's still the issue with your powers and all."

Lucas smiled as he reassured them that nothing bad would happen to the three of them as he watched the rest of the group walk up to the shrine to get the Swirly Bells.

"Hello! It's so nice to see humans and Yo-kai together!"

The extremely confident voice from Komasan was the first thing that tipped the group off that these were definitely not the Komainu Brothers they were familiar with. The second thing was the somewhat visible scars on their bodies. It was clear that these komainus were physical fighters and while their Komasan and Komajiro did fight when the occasion called for it, physical attacks were rarely used by their Komainu Brothers since they favored their inspiritments and elemental attacks more.

"Yes, the bonds between humans and Yo-kai is a wonderous thing to see."

Hovernyan floated down to the komainus and said,

"Listen, these two are helping some friends of mine bridge the gap between humans and Yo-kai, so we were wondering if you happened to have some Swirly Bells. They're for something really important."

"Sure, we got some. How many do you need?"

"Two."

The komainus nodded and smiled as they handed two Swirly Bells to Nate and Katie.

"These Swirly Bells can alert you to the presence of Yo-kai as long as you have it with you, so try not to lose them, okay?"

Nate and Katie nodded, waved goodbye to the two komainus, and went back to the rest of their little group.

"Hey, we're back. Did anything happen while we were gone?"

"No, it was pretty uneventful. What should we pick up next?"

"We're going down to the past Timer's and More...wow, that was a weird sentence."

They walked up to Timer's and More and looked inside through the window, not sure if they were supposed to be surprised that nothing looked different.

"Okay, are we just supposed to watlz in there and ask for a watch base? Even though Mr. Goodsight is a Yo-kai, I think that would still be a pretty weird request."

"We just need something to work with. Surely he has blueprints or something like that laying around in there we can use."

Nate and Katie remembered seeing the blueprints for the original Yo-kai Watch back in the present, but somehow they doubted that Mr. Goodsight would just happen to have that particular blueprint. Still, the future of the Yo-kai Watch was at stake, so the group walked into Timer's and More, the bell annoucing their arrival.

"Welcome to Timer's and More! I'll be right out!"

As they walked up to the counter and waited for Mr. Goodsight to leave the backroom, they discussed the best way of asking him for two watch bases or at least a set of blueprints, eventually settling on telling him that some friends were working on a project and needed something for research purposes, although they weren't entirely sure if they would need the excuse or not, considering that not everything in their lives ever since getting the Yo-kai Watch has been that easy.

"Sorry for the wait, folks. The name's Mortimer Goodsight."

Even in the past he still looks the same as he usually does. Huh...I wonder why nobody's ever questioned the fact that he hasn't appeared to age.

Before they could say anything, they noticed Mr. Goodsight staring at Nate and Katie's Yo-kai Watches.

Oh, right. He's a Yo-kai that works with watches. Of course he would notice our Yo-kai Watches.

"Sorry...may I have a closer look?"

They nodded and placed their Yo-kai Watches on the counter, ready to snatch them back at a moment's notice.

"Hmm...maybe..."

Mr. Goodsight grabbed a piece of paper and pencil and was about to draw something when he sighed and placed the pencil down.

"Nope. Still not feeling it."

Hovernyan looked at Mr. Goodsight with concern written on his face as Nate and Katie slowly put their Yo-kai Watches back on.

"Is something wrong, Mortimer?"

"I thought seeing those watches your friends are wearing would spark something, but it's not working."

"Were you working on something by any chance?"

"No, I was just bored. It's been a slow week."

Mr. Goodsight tapped his pencil against the counter and looked at the Yo-kai Watches again.

"Actually, can you do me a favor?"

Nate and Katie exchanged glances before answering,

"Umm...sure?"

Please be reasonable, please be reasonable.

"Can you get me something with some heat?"

"...What?"

"I was thinking that maybe if I eat something with a good old spicy kick, my gears will turn again! However, nothing around here has worked. Trust me, I've tried."

Well...we don't have to risk Terror Time for this...

"Okay. We'll find you something."

"Great! If you find something, just bring it back here!"

They walked out of Timer's and More and said to no one in particular,

"Okay, where are we going to find something hot enough?"

"Well, there is a curry restaurant back in our time. There's bound to be something spicy enough there!"

"Okay, so do we go back to our present and get something spicy or do we stay in the past and look for marbles? Huh, that's a sentence I never thought I would say out loud."

They turned to Hovernyan, hoping he had some advice for them. Thankfully, he did.

"You guys return to your present and pick up something to help Mr. Goodsight. I'll see if I can find my friend with the marbles. We'll meet back here when we're done with our quests."

They all agreed and parted ways, the main group heading to a secluded area to summon Miradox while Hovernyan looked around town for his friend.

Back in the present...

Asking Miradox to take them to present day Harrisville and to their grandmother's house had been easy enough for Nate and Katie. However, they did notice that something was off.

"Oh, right. We're still in our 'blending in' outfits. We better change back."

They got their original outfits out of the bag and quickly found separate rooms to change back into their original outfits. When they were done, they put the other outfits into the bag for when they were about to head back to the past.

After secretly activating a Mirapo that was in the house and saying goodbye to their grandmothers and promising to come visit again, the group went back to the train station and started to ride the train home.

"Whisper? What are you doing?"

Whisper looked up from his Yo-kai Pad for a moment before glancing back down.

"If you must know, I'm looking for something to make navigating the past easier for you three."

"Like what?"

"Something to allow you to change outfits quickly. If there's an emergency, we can't afford to waste precious time looking for somewhere for you three to safely change clothes."

"Something like our bike charms?"

Whisper nodded.

"Pretty much."

Whisper tapped the screen a few times before his eyes lit up at something he was reading.

"Well, if that's the case..."

Whisper gave a few hums as he tapped the screen again and two packages instantly appeared next to him.

"Ah, this must be the mystery gift I got for using the 'Instant Delivery' option."

Whisper took the smaller package off the box and opened it with confusion crossing his face as he got a better look at what was inside.

"Rock-away Extract? When am I ever going to use this?"

Whisper desummoned both the Rock-away Extract and his Yo-kai Pad as Nate tucked the other package into the bottomless bag.

"Whisper? It just occured to me. How are you paying for this?"

"Oh, right. With everything that's been going on, I guess I forgot to tell you. Since I contributed to saving both the Yo-kai and Human Realms by giving you two the Yo-kai Watch, I was offered a position as part of a group of Yo-kai that deals with improving human and Yo-kai relationships. It's nothing fancy at the moment, but I'm being paid decently well."

"So, you're being paid to do the job you're already doing?"

"Yes, but there's other responsibilities as well that come with the position. Guiding you guys is just one of them."

"Now arriving at Central Station."

"Ah, our stop's here. Katie and I will drop off our suitcases back home and we'll start our search something spicy enough to take back to the past."

*****

"I'm home!"

"How was your trip?"

"It was great! I might even go down and visit Grandma more during the summer!"

After they put their suitcases up in their rooms and talked with their mothers over lunch, they went back out to complete their next mission to ensure the Yo-kai Watch's existance.

Servant AU

Another give away of One piece

Luffy and his crew have been pirates for quite some time now, so they are being known in most of the world, one day they decide to stop on an island called Lulusia just to have some relaxation so each of them goes their different way with Luffy being on his own.

While exploring the island Luffy meets with some of the guard that brings him to the castle to meet with a man that look like a vampire, the man presented himself as Seki the king of Lulusia and said that on that day forward Luffy is the new servant of his daughter the princess.

Before explaining that is a misunderstanding Luffy was taken to his new quarters where he changes his clothes by the hands of Seki's servants and later taken to the princess's Room. When he enters the room, he could see a beautiful woman with black hair and a dark dress, she presented herself as Komane the princess of Lulusia and established some rules for Luffy to follow as her new servant. after being a servant the whole day Luffy take the chance to return to his ship and tell his crew about what has happened to him, after he explained the situation, the crew design a plan: which is to Luffy to keep pretending to be her servant until king figures who he really is.

For the next few days Luffy acted as Komane's servant always doing her demands some of them were as easy as a child game and some of them being impossible for a normal human, eventually both Luffy and Komane started to develop feeling towards each other and started to talk like friends but one day Komane was kidnapped by some pirates that wants a juicy ransom and it's up to Luffy to save her because Seki isn't around to prepare the ransom.

Luffy found out the hideout of those pirates and breaks the door to confront them, those pirates thought that he was the servant of the princess who came to rescue her but one of the pirates recognized Luffy, so he tells his comrades and the princess that that man is straw hat Luffy. After beating those guys Luffy sets Komane free so she could hug him while crying and thanking him.

Back in Lulusia Komane sits in one chair of her room after ordering one of two last orders to Luffy which to answer two simple questions: who he really is, and does he love her? after having an answer to those questions Komane comes close to Luffy to steal a kiss from him and to tell him her final order: to show how much he loves her and then she starts to kiss him again.

The next morning when is the time to leave with his crew Luffy is stopped by Komane who wants Luffy to promise her that once he becomes the pirate king, he will return for her and make her his queen, to promise that Luffy kisses her one more time and after that the straw hats sets sail with Komane waving her beloved.
