Okay here are the Mission Impossible grades now that I've seen them all

Mission Impossible 1: A-Tier

STILL LODGED IN MY FUCKING BRAIN. I did not go into this one expecting it to be that good. I only shouted at DePalma once I think and mostly I was staring in fascinated horror at the sexually-charged manipulative thriller unfolding. I am obsessed with the dynamic between Ethan, Phelps, and Claire, there is some SHIT going on there, the queer reading of this movie is off the charts. Would rewatch any day.

Mission Impossible 2 Silent Movie Recut: C-Tier

This is a bad fucking movie but Punct and I were screaming for 90% of the film, it was so fucking fun and stupid. Granted, I don't think we would have survived if we weren't watching the recut, BUT nothing will ever be funnier than Ethan doing a backflip and then mid-air changing to a down-kick. I was so shocked at the AUDACITY and the STUPIDITY I immediately rewound the scene to watch it again. Amazing. Totally batshit. Ethan why are you kicking everything you are a punchman.

Mission Impossible 3: Trash Tier

This movie was a nightmare. I feel actively bad for Cruise and Monaghan bringing their A game to a shit-tier script. This movie has MULTIPLE PROBLEMS. There were multiple sequences that were so poorly shot that I couldn't follow what the fuck was happening. The constant unnecessary cuts and the rapid tempo gave me a headache. JJA is incapable of letting a shot breathe at all, like if he doesn't cut every three to five seconds his head will explode. Also this script was ATROCIOUS. Fucking WHAT. There is no introducton to the team, making them feel completely tertiary. That line about sleeping with your sister catapulted me out of the movie like an ejection from a jet plane. The entire anti-god speech was peak 'take the keyboard away from JJA.' And WHAT was with the random bondage mask scene??? Was JJA like "sorry i have no idea how to keep the plot moving unless Ethan literally can't speak in this scene so here's the IMF-issued Unsexy Bondage Mask."

Also this Jack Bauerification of Ethan Hunt pisses me off. Ethan Hunt should not use assault rifles, that's not who he is, JJA meet me in the pit.

Ghost Protocol: A-Tier

Stupid and delightful and finally some good fucking food. The first of the McQuarrie Trilogy. After enduring MI3 I want to kiss McQuarrie on the fucking mouth for writing this. You actually get to know the team! There is time spent establishing each of their dynamics with Ethan! Finally Ethan is doing sneaky shit instead of just shooty shit! The Burj! The comedy! This is a 2 hour episode of Leverage and I fucking love it. Thank you, zero notes.

Rogue Nation: S-Tier

Oh babygirl here we fucking go. Not only McQuarrie on script (with help from good writers) but he's in the director chair, welcome to the party, hardy. I L O V E this movie. It has supplanted GP as my comfort watch of the series. Ilsa Faust is an excellent addition to the team with a lot of edge to her and the way she drives the plot thrills me chills me and fulfills me. And while she's kind of the love interest that is not even remotely the plot of the story, the story is crunchy with Solomon Lane serving such fuckin good vibes. He has actual motivation beyond "hello i am the baddie" he has thoughts and motivations and he also is STAGGERINGLY PETTY. Also I cannot tell what's my favorite bit of this one, the part where Ethan is fucking OUT OF IT after he gets resuscitated or when Ethan goes off the deep end.

This movie really said "Benji Dunn is 90% of Ethan's impulse control" and it was RIGHT! Thank you McQuarrie, I love you.

Fallout: S-Tier

I'm fucking unhinged about this movie. The batshit motorcycle chase in Paris, the HALO jump, the helicopter hijacking. Ethan's continued moral decay as his ethical compass begins to realign, and the way it fucks him over. Solomon fucking Lane back to haunt the shit out of everyone. That FUCKING bathroom brawl jesus fuck. Everyone is on their goddamn A game, they are giving everything. Watching the final act is like a prolonged heart attack. Also the cinematography and lighting is jawdroppingly gorgeous. Also Julia is AMAZING. HER SCENE WITH LUTHER MAKES ME EMOTIONAL.

Not only do I have no notes, I want McQuarrie to give me notes. Goddamn. Ethan Hunt is babygirl and his tired eyes give me feelings.

Well, you'd break the barrier of the Omega Timeline. That would basically mean bye bye safety from the otherside, and it'd also be rid of the gravitational pull the barrier offered.

So everyone is just floating in the air, while stuff from many timelines are pulled in. Doors probably don't work anymore, the islands slowly crumble apart, or maybe they do hold given the walls that keep 'em in place? Just, there is a lot that would go wrong and will go wrong. A lot of people will probably not survive that unless they can escape through other means.

Why Peebs never got into fanficiton

It occurred to me the other day that despite having quite the voracious appetite for fiction back in my youth, I never got into fanfiction. So, how come? Part of it is just the circles I moved in back in the day, as the cis and presumably straight nerd sphere wasn't super into fanfiction, and by the time I started moving queer-wards my habits were kind of set. There is, however, another reason, and it's this particular wild ride I want to take you on today dear readers.

NOTE: It is difficult to tell this story to its full extent without sharing a bit more detail about my meatspace identity than I'd prefer to, so I have taken some steps to anonymize as much as I can. If you by chance have a hunch about the name of the fic I'm talking about, do free to drop me DM and talk about it, but please don't start flinging speculations on here. Thanks in advance.

With that meaty disclaimer out of the way, let's talk about that one time my mother sent me DBZ fanfiction. Back in the days of my prepubescence, my mother was the family's "computer person." She had some education in early IT, database work, and that kind of thing, so she was the one to introduce the Internet into our family. Mind you, this was in the days of the ISDN line, a step up from the 56k modems that took up your phone line, but still a slow and expensive solution compared to the broadband connections that would come some years later.

Not to sound like Grandpa Internet here, but the web was fundamentally different back then. Before the rise of Google, or halfway decent search engines, finding anything on the internet was a question of what search term you used and which of the many many search engines that were available you used, and what you found were of wildly differing quality. A lot of it was homemade web pages following this or that template, hosted on this or that hosting site, but there was very little in terms of connective tissue. This is all to say that when you came across something that was almost what you were looking for, you had the tendency to just check it out and see if it hit the spot eventually.

All this preamble is to say that when my mother sent me a mail with a link to a collection of stories written about a character whose given name was identical to our family name, I decided to give it a gander although I wasn't immensely interested in it. Turns out it was a loosely organized collection of stories about a fan-created character in the DBZ universe, although I did not know this because the ol' screamy punchman show hadn't really made it to my corner of the woods at this point.

This character, whose name was the same as my family name but as best as I know wasn't inspired by anything else than the sound of it, was the daughter of a particularly biologically implausible pairing in the Dragon Ball Z universe, and given how quickly said pairing decided to throw their contempt for biologists and their so-called facts in the reader's faces told me my mother probably hadn't read very far into the thing before sending it my way.

Now, I want to be clear, this wasn't a full-blown lemon or anything, but I was a sheltered kid what sex and sexuality were concerned, and it didn't take much more than a mention of doing the nasty and a tasteful fade to black, that in retrospect left some big questions unanswered, to have me quite flustered.

This isn't to say things didn't get considerably more citrus-y later on. You see, this character grows up and is cool and important in the way such characters often are. What is slightly more remarkable about her is that Alien Puberty hits her like a sackful of bricks and goes what I can only describe as "Transformatively-Fuck-Crazy" on a supporting character. The whole consent situation around the thing is real iffy I realize, now in retrospect, but at the time I was mostly in shock over where this little reading session had taken me.

The session, however, was far from done. Not much came out of this alien consent-light fuck-berserkergang, however, as our heroine had some time travel to get into. At the time I was very confused about the time travel just suddenly being a thing, but later on, I came to realize Dragon Ball Z was just Kind Of Like That.

You see, some Jessica Rabbit-looking alien with a clashing primary colors color scheme and an understanding of the concept of clothing that is adventurous to say the least who wants to kick her ass but finds herself unable to do so on account of the heroine being actually quite good at this ass-kicking business. Our scantily-clad would-be conqueror does the most logical thing in her situation and goes back in time to kill the protagonist's dad. You know, as you do when you have near-perfect mastery of time travel and a grudge. You'd think she'd get into some Kang The Conqueror shit, but maybe that's the next point on her agenda, idk.

This villain also could turn invisible, so nobody's going to accuse her of being a one-trick pony. How does our heroine beat this somewhat overstatted threat? I can't remember, but if I were to guess, it ended in a cliffhanger and lots of screaming, so you can't blame the author for diverging from the form language of the show if nothing else.

So that's the story of my main first encounter with fanfiction. It left me confused in more ways than one, and it kind of became a bit emblematic of the format for me once I figured out that it was in fact fanfiction. Was that unfair of the younger me? Perhaps, while I can't really claim it as a good read, I did keep reading it until I was done. Whether that says more about the fic or about me, I am sure I do not know.

had a realization that the way i set up the mechanics of odette's transfiguration ability all the way back in 2016, with her being able to transform anybody who touches one of her cursed flowers into an animal or furry, it basically functions a lot like a stand. and not the kind of stand a jojo or their allies would have but more of the type of stands the baddies get. less psychic ghost punchmans with weird superpowers and more puzzle battle stuff like "if you touch this electrical outlet you become magnetic" and "if you bite your lip in front of this stand it can fold you up into a sheet of paper"

which means her and leandra's story is basically "magic school escapades except the protagonist is a minor antagonist from jojo's bizarre adventure" and i... can live with that premise

Studio Bones announcement 'soon' One Punch Man Season 3 in OPM Chapter 170

After a lengthy delay, Crunchyroll has confirmed that the One-Punch Man anime will be returning for Season 3 and is currently in production. The streaming service translated an official announcement in Japanese from the show's website. Season 2 adaptations of additional stories from manga were released in Japan in 2019. Season 3 came out in English in fall 2019 and was wrapped up in early 2020. Chikashi Kubota, character designer, will work on Season 3. But there are no details about the staff or the stories to be told in the next series. Crunchyroll says that there is no information available on the returning cast or staff, nor about the studio. However, the poster for the new season was made public, which could provide clues. One Punch Man started out as a webcomic created by Japanese artist ONE. It gained enough success to be made a manga and then a TV anime series. A console and mobile games followed. Lin will collaborate with Avi Arad and Ari Arad from Arad Productions (Spider-Man series, X-Men series) to adapt the film. The story centers on Saitama, an unfortunate loser who discovers a unique workout regimen that makes him an invincible superman who can beat any opponent with just one punch. Saitama, as One Punch Man, is simultaneously bored by his invincibility and disinterested at the Hero Association.
