Rob Pruitt

Rob Pruitt is a contemporary American artist. Throughout his career he has fine-tuned his ability to express nuanced ideas about culture and society through re-interpretation of common objects and materials, all filtered through a sense of humour and irony. Spanning the disciplines of painting, sculpture, photography, and performance, his practice often bridges the gap between art and life. 

In ‘The Suicide Paintings’ for example, the colour combinations are more complex and there are no emoticons to tell us how we should feel, as suggested in other works of his. The colour’s intensity varies depending on what frames it or surrounds it. Each canvas has a generous border that is also a colour gradient, which often works to balance or enliven the colour in the centre.  

Born on May 17, 1964 in Washington, D.C., Pruitt went on to study at the Corcoran College and the Parsons School. He has regularly exhibited with Gavin Brown's Enterprise in New York, and has been the subject of solo exhibitions at the Museum of Contemporary Art Detroit, the Aspen Art Museum, and LAND in Los Angeles, among others.

Only a few more days left to see Emily Nelligan’s exhibition “Great Cranberry Island” at @alexandregallery. The gallery was looking for a versatile exhibition frame, which we provided with one of our classic stem profiles, milled in maple. The finish chosen by designer Eric Knutzon uses graphite powder, and has the same sort of sheen you get from heavily applied graphite. Verona, al via domenica la decima edizione del Juliet Summer Fest. A Verona una grande festa estiva dedicata a Shakespeare, con rappresentazioni itineranti in centro storico, serate al Bastione delle Maddalene e visita al museo interattivo, anche in inglese. Torna, per la decima edizione, da domenica 16 luglio, il “Juliet summer fest”, organizzato da Casa Shakespeare e inserito nel programma del Mura Festival. Da domenica 16 a venerdì 21 luglio va in scena lo spettacolo “Giulietta&Romeo Re Life”, proposto anche in streaming live. Studenti delle scuole veronesi e giovani della compagnia di Casa Shakespeare si esibiranno negli stessi orari e luoghi pensati da Shakespeare nella sua opera. Dall'alba al tramonto, dalla Casa di Giulietta, alle vie del centro per concludersi alla Tomba della sfortunata eroina shakespeariana, ragazzi e ragazze reciteranno alcuni dei passaggi più significativi, animando la città e coinvolgendo cittadini e turisti presenti. Il 21 Luglio alle 21 si terrà la Festa Re Life. I giovani protagonisti del Giulietta&Romeo Re LIFE rivivono gli streaming della loro folle avventura con alcune scene interpretate dal vivo e le immagini che scorrono sullo schermo. Il 22 luglio, sempre alle 21, va in scena “Antonio e Cleopatra” con il teatro di Casa Shakespeare. Domenica 23 luglio, alle ore 10.30, “WALKING WITH ROMEO&JULIET” e entrata al Shakespeare Interactive Museum, in lingua inglese. Si parte da Corte Mercato Vecchio e, in collaborazione con Wall Street e Onview Experiences & Weddings, si attraversa la città per arrivare al Teatro Satiro Off ai Filippini, dove si trova lo Shakespeare Interactive Museum. Un'esperienza immersiva e interattiva nel mondo del Bardo, alla scoperta dei suoi personaggi e dei luoghi raccontati. Attraverso la tecnologia il visitatore prenderà le sembianze di uno dei protagonisti shakespeariani e interagirà con gli stessi grazie a videoinstallazioni e scenografie tridimensionali, per una mezz'ora di spettacolo. Il programma degli eventi è stato presentato ieri mattina, a Palazzo Barbieri, dal Consigliere comunale Presidente Commissione consiliare 4^ Pietro Giovanni Trincanato, insieme al direttore artistico di Casa Shakespeare Solimano Pontarollo.
