Best selling games in 24 hours Listed
Tumblr media
Screenshot: Bethesda Softworks, Blizzard, Bungie During the last decade or so, gaming has develop into extra accessible and standard. This ends in video games turning into larger and promoting within the tens of millions attributable to demand. The video games featured on this article stand out for 2 causes: setting a precedent and highlighting why video games are the favored medium now. To know the best-selling video games in 24-hour time-frame listed, I like to recommend studying beneath.
The ten best selling video games in 24 hours, listed
To start out, this checklist isn’t ranked nevertheless it’ll go so as of gross sales. This manner, as you get additional down within the article, video games could have larger gross sales numbers. So observe alongside. Halo 2
Tumblr media
Screenshot: Bungie The Halo title and Xbox have been intertwined for over 20 years, a lot in an effort to’t have one with out the opposite. Even earlier than social media and YouTube, the Halo model offered like hotcakes. Halo 2 saved up the momentum throughout its launch in 2004 by promoting 2.4 million copies inside the first 24 hours. Not solely did the shooter promote properly, nevertheless it made Microsoft $125 million on the primary day which was over their projected estimates of $100 million. Grand Theft Auto IV
Tumblr media
Screenshot: Rockstar North The humorous factor is that the majority video games made by Rockstar Video games often promote properly. This tends to occur whenever you put video games many years aside. Nevertheless, Grand Theft Auto IV is a particular case because it’s the primary GTA recreation on Xbox 360 and PS3. As a result of these two consoles loved excessive gross sales, this made different video games like GTA have a big participant base. The great factor is that GTA IV can depend on its title, which helped promote the fifth installment within the mainline sequence for about over 300 million copies leading to $125 million in income for the corporate. Pokemon X & Y
Tumblr media
Screenshot: Gamefreak The Pokemon IP has all the time been a juggernaut in each medium it’s in. From the TV reveals to the figures, the model usually sells above common. The Pokemon video games are not any exception. Pre-orders in Japan for Pokemon X & Y had been about 15 million items making it the highest-selling recreation for the 3DS in Japan. That’s simply in Japan, for the remainder of the world, the sport offered about 4 million copies which has made it the fastest-selling 3DS recreation. Halo 3
Tumblr media
Screenshot: Bungie As talked about for Halo 2, it’s largely all the time concerning the shooter’s title that helps promote. Because the 2004 sequel did properly in gross sales, quite a lot of stress was on Bungie to finish the basic trilogy with a bang. The excellent news is that they did simply that. Halo 3 offered over 1 million copies and earned the corporate about $170 million through the first 24 hours. These numbers are fairly spectacular as a result of Halo 3 was solely accessible on the Xbox 360. Diablo 3
Tumblr media
Screenshot: Blizzard Leisure Blizzard Leisure video games promote like gangbusters for probably the most half. Most video games that come out of the corporate are large releases which have lengthy lives. Diablo 3 may be very very like that. It had a ton of post-launch content material and launched the sequence to new heights. In response to Blizzard, the ARPG offered almost 3.5 million items which allegedly made it the best-selling PC recreation of all time. Nevertheless, when you keep in mind the DRM fiasco and the not-so-great launch, issues weren’t good. However nonetheless, the sport offered properly sufficient for Blizzard to place out Diablo 4. However don’t fear, when you’re planning on stepping into Diablo 3 now, it may be a good time to take action. Associated: 10 Greatest Dungeon Crawlers like Diablo 4 Name of Obligation: Black Ops 3
Tumblr media
Screenshot: Activision The Name of Obligation sequence has been a pressure within the gaming world to today. The sport has been round for a very long time and has develop into a popular culture icon in the identical approach as Halo has. Whereas COD has many sequence occurring without delay, the Black Ops line might be a fan favourite for probably the most half. Black Ops 3 offered about 5.6 million copies which gave Activision $310 million in day one gross sales. One of the best half about these numbers is that Black Ops 3 offered properly even throughout a time when video games weren't promoting properly. Skyrim
Tumblr media
Screenshot: Bethesda Softworks Even with Bethesda placing Skyrim years after its preliminary launch, the sport made historical past again in 2011. On day one launch, the RPG offered 350 million copies which is a giant deal for a recreation like this. The Elder Scrolls sequence wasn’t mainstream till after Skyrim and it reveals since many gamers are nonetheless supporting the sport over a decade after its launch. Bethesda tried to recapture the magic with Starfield which was hailed because the “Skyrim is house”. Nevertheless, while it sold well, sadly, it’s laborious to attain Skyrim’s numbers. Future
Tumblr media
Screenshot: Bungie Being Bungie’s first non-Halo launch, lots was using on its success. Future did do properly for them and Activision as a result of it offered round ten million copies and introduced house almost $500 million in gross sales. This feat made the PVPVE shooter one the best-selling new IPS in gaming Regardless of its considerably stale and repetitive gameplay, Future confirmed it was right here to remain. Fortunately, in Future 2 Bungie mounted all the issues making the sequel a much better recreation than its predecessor Name of Obligation: Trendy Warfare 3
Tumblr media
Screenshot: Activision Oh, look one other COD recreation on this checklist. One would assume that the yearly launch of video games would stagger gross sales and participant base proper? Nevertheless, for some cause, COD is immune to those issues. Name of Obligation Trendy Warfare 3 is an effective instance of that. The ultimate chapter of the Trendy Warfare sequence offered 6.5 million copies and earned round $400 million in gross sales. It is a huge bounce of $310 million in gross sales from Trendy Warfare 2. It simply reveals that Name of Obligation on the whole has sufficient steam in it and avid gamers are all the time going to be prepared to simply accept it. Grand Theft Auto V
Tumblr media
Screenshot: Rockstar North Right here we're on the finish of what's most likely the most costly recreation ever made (don’t quote me on that). Within the first 24 hours of its launch, Grand Theft Auto V offered 11 million copies and raked in a whopping $800 million in income for Rockstar Video games. That’s not all although, it took the open-world recreation round six weeks to achieve $1 billion in gross sales with 29 million offered. GTA V broke fairly a couple of information that it might be laborious for the sequel in GTA VI to beat. However as a result of these video games are standard and all the time ship, one might assume every launch will beat the final. Read the full article

TOP 10 NINTENDO SWITCH GAMES 2019 - my arbitrary list!
Sometimes it's good to be proven wrong. I was pretty sceptical when the Switch was first announced, as it didn't seem too different from the Wii U's gamepad. Then I spent two years watching Nintendo enjoy a complete reversal of fortune, to the point of potentially amassing a more compelling library than Sony's or Microsoft's consoles. So that's how I quite suddenly found myself buying a Switch in October 2019, after having resisted the PS4 and Xbone for five whole years, and my free time has since been dominated by this little machine that defied the odds.
Some of Nintendo's business decisions can still seem inexplicable, but releasing a powerful handheld console that can also be docked with a TV at a moment's notice has proved to be an inspired idea, rather than the gimmick the Wii U's gamepad mostly turned out to be. And along with Nintendo's dependable series of top-notch exclusives, the Switch has enjoyed much better third-party support, which is how I ended up buying Dark Souls for the fourth bloody time just because the option to play it portably was too tempting to resist.
The Switch is the first console I've bought since the PS3 and for all Nintendo's quirks, there's a reason the Switch has dominated Christmas wishlists for three years running. Games like Super Mario Odyssey feel like full-size adventures that just happen to have a portable option, as opposed to handheld games you can also play on the big screen. This is the first year in a long while that I've actually played enough topical titles to justify a "games of the year" list, even if my recent Nintendo bias is pretty blatant.
So with that caveat in mind, and in no particular order, here's my entirely subjective list of the best Nintendo Switch games of 2019.
Tumblr media
Luigi's Mansion 3
This is a franchise I'd always been curious about and can finally have an opinion on. The process of going from floor to floor of the hotel hoovering up ghosts and solving puzzles is pretty straightforward, but Luigi's Mansion 3 has so much polish and personality crammed into the cartridge. Luigi is immediately lovable as a determined coward, and each level has a wildly different theme that's realised with extravagant audio and visual flair, so progress always feels rewarding. Though this isn't true horror by any means, there can be an unsettling atmosphere and some of the bosses are pretty freaky. I officially love this oddball franchise and am desperate for a chance to play the story again in co-op. Unquestionably a first-class exclusive.
Tumblr media
Doom (Switch port)
Not to be confused with the impressive Switch version of Doom 2016, this is the iconic Doom made cheap and accessible. While purists may take issue with some minor technical deviations, this is the first time I've got most of the way through Doom because the portability and *glorious* true dual-stick control makes this easily my favourite version. There's even a cheat menu for when I just want to mindlessly punch hell beasts. The main thing that ages Doom is its maze-like structure, but playing it casually experience alleviates that frustration somewhat. At a grand total of four pounds, this is a BFB (big fucking bargain).
Tumblr media
Untitled Goose Game
You know a game is good when the only asterisk I put on my recommendation is that it *may* be overpriced. Untitled Goose Game took the internet by storm this year because it's the quintessential indie game: cute, simple and with anti-authoritarian undertones. As a horrible goose, it's your mission to cause havoc in an unsuspecting English village, interacting with people and objects to cause chain reactions of chaos. Some of the puzzle solutions are maybe a bit obscure, but 90% of the time just messing around with everything in the area will lead to a solution. Untitled Goose Game makes up for its brevity with sheer comedic charm, feeling much better-designed than a "lul so random" affair like Goat Simulator. A honking good time.
Tumblr media
Terraria (Switch port)
I have spent literally hundreds of hours on the PC version of Terraria, so when I was broke after buying my Switch the new Terraria port was an obvious cost-effective choice. While the controls aren't as precise, the amount of time spent mining and sorting through loot makes this a great handheld experience. I can't comment on the multiplayer options but few games represent such a sheer value for money, as there's always a new cave to explore or a new boss to overcome. Time has been kind to this 2011 classic, grind notwithstanding.
Tumblr media
Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair
While I personally enjoyed the original Yooka-Laylee, it was definitely flawed and I never seriously expected to see a sequel. But Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair launched quite abruptly and did a pretty spectacular job of upstaging its predecessor. All the previous game's half-baked feel has been replaced with clever design touches, like the equippable tonics which grant helpful abilities at the cost of a currency penalty. The titular Lair is actually the final level and available to throw yourself at right from the beginning, but beating it without first obtaining more hitpoints by completing other stages is incredibly hard, which is a great way to incentivize progress without denying more confident players the option of beating the game earlier if they can meet the challenge. Impossible Lair might be this year's biggest surprise, and despite a modest budget I think it's worthy of comparison to excellent 2D platformers like Rayman Legends. Just don't expect to defeat Capital B on your first attempt.
Tumblr media
A Hat In Time (Switch port)
I recently reviewed A Hat In Time but at the risk of repeating myself, it's one of the most charming games of the last few years and an incredibly impressive crowdfunded achievement. Mario's offerings may be a grander technical feat, but A Hat In Time is a fast and fabulous journey through a series of weird and wonderful worlds that all feel distinct in content and tone. It's very openly inspired by GameCube-era platformers like Mario Sunshine and Psychonauts and it easily scratches that itch. Simply one of the best original platformers of this generation, and I defy you not to love Hat Kid's cheeky antics.
Tumblr media
Spyro Reignited Trilogy (Switch port)
As someone who thinks the original Spyro trilogy holds up better than most early 3D games, I'd have actually preferred a simple port rather than a full remake, but The Reignited Trilogy is honestly impeccable. The updated visuals are gorgeous while maintaining the general style of those old, jaggy models, and very little of the gameplay or content has changed except for sensible updates like the ability to immediately warp between every level you've visited. Having full dual-analogue control is also an absolute godsend even for a PS1 veteran like me. Though Spyro may seem a bit basic these days when faced with modern platformer marvels, the Reignited Trilogy makes these old favourites accessible again at a generous price point.
Tumblr media
Ring Fit Adventure
Yes, I have a Wii kicking around in a box somewhere. No, Wii Fit never held my attention as anything more than a curiosity. Ring Fit Adventure, meanwhile, is limited only by my cholesterol-encrusted heart and dislike of excessive showering. This is an honest-to-goodness attempt at making an RPG out of a workout toy, and the amount of polish put into the game's presentation and hardware implementation is pretty remarkable. Levels involve jogging on the spot and squeezing the ring accessory to collect goodies and overcome obstacles, and periodically you'll engage in turn-based combat where you use a custom selection of exercise moves to deal damage. It's a fantastic idea pulled off much more elegantly than it sounds. The ring accessory unfortunately makes this quite an expensive game, so it'll take a lot of regular use to get your money's worth, but I can honestly (and surprisingly) say that exercise suddenly becomes more compelling when it's presented as a light RPG adventure with anthropomorphic gym equipment encouraging you to take breaks and drink plenty of water.
Tumblr media
Pokémon Sword/Shield
Disclaimer: I can only give my impressions from 25 hours of playing Pokémon Shield, so this is DEFINITELY not a full review. That being said, this is still an easy recommendation to existing Pokemaniacs and a good starting point for any new acolytes. While the core formula hasn't evolved (har har) much since the very first Pokemon, Sword and Shield still has a number of modern quality of life improvements that make previous generations show their age. I've had so much fun building a core crew of cute and/or badass 'mons in a weird Nintendo version of Britain, and the online features combine with a VASTLY improved random encounter system to make grinding far less of a concern. The wild area takes some getting used to, but it's satisfying to come back and capture the huge Onyx you had to run away from a few hours before. Even if Pokémon Sword/Shield has some technical blemishes and could have pushed the series further in some regards, it's still easy to see why this franchise has maintained such a beloved status for so long.
Tumblr media
Red Faction: Guerrilla Re-mars-tered (Switch port)
Along with Dark Souls, Red Faction was a game I never even knew I needed on the go, but now I've got it I can't imagine ever going back. A cult classic due to its amazing destruction physics, Red Faction sees you leading a proletariat revolution on Mars, literally tearing down corporate monuments to free the working class from systematic oppression. The open world is a bit claustrophobic and the shooting isn't exactly mind-blowing, but there's a reason I've beaten Red Faction every couple of years ever since its original 2009 release. The Switch port does the game justice and if you set the difficulty to easy then this is one of the best rage-venting experiences money can buy. So yes, I recommend getting your ass to Mars.

okay instead of being sad im just gonna start telling you all about how good of games x & y are
theyre good because this is the first time the series went full 3d and they had to make all those models for the first time for the 3ds
and the icing on the cake is that they went ahead and modeled more clothing and hair than just the default cause its kalos and theyre fashionable and they wanted to make our characters customizable and thats so cool
they added the fairy type and honestly? thats really balanced out the type matchups so much. dragon has another, more common counter while still being pretty cool and op, steel and poison types have more use as a counter to fairy, and fairy is just a neat typing
it also introduced the wonder trade, which while theyve hidden it the best they could for some reason in sun & moon, has kept returning for new entries in the series. wonder trading also introduced the wonderlocke, which is personally my favorite way to nuzlocke a pokemon game
also the whole bottom screen? its good. i love the convenience of the pss, i love pokemon amie being right at your fingertips, and while i dont use super training im sure its great for people who do to have it right there, easily accessible
and thats all i can think of for right now thanks for reading all of this if you made it this far i hope you learned why x & y are good games

The Best Nintendo Switch Controller Review
The Pro Controller is fine.
I still recommend it to most people
but if you play a lot of 2D games that the D-Pad placement
just isn't gonna cut it. 8BitDo is been making
fantastic Deepak controllers for a while now.
I originally recommended the old SN30
if you wanted to play a lot of 2D games.
Its biggest flaw was it's ergonomics, making it hard to play
3D games with its thumb sticks.
They fixed that with the release of the SN30 Pro+
a near-perfect controller that quickly became
my favorite controller for the Switch.
I used it so much that I ran it into the ground
and had to buy a new one recently. Almost two years later,
they finally released an updated version,
simply called the 8BitDo Pro 2.
Thank God that name was starting to be a mouthful.
This version adds a lot
to the already fantastic Pro Controller alternative.
If you are on the fence about getting one before,
this one will for sure give you
a couple of pretty good reasons to reconsider.
(upbeat music)
This video is sponsored by Aspyr, the guys who brought you,
the Jedi Outcast and Jedi Academy Switch ports
are now bringing you Star Wars Republic Commando.
It's finally on Nintendo Switch
and PlayStation 4 for just 1499.
Check it out at the link in the description below.
Whoa! Whoa! Come on, dude.
Chaos has erupted throughout the galaxy.
As leader of an elite squad of Republic Commandos,
your mission is to infiltrate, dominate,
and ultimately annihilate the enemy. You will play as Boss,
leader of the special ops unit Delta Squad
together with Fixer, Scorch and Sev
working together as a team
instinctively, intelligently, instantly. You guys all right.
I was here first and then you guys just came.
Battle a variety of highly intelligent and deadly enemies
from brutal Trandoshan mercenaries, all right.
To the flying insectoid warriors of Geonosis.
This game was originally released in 2005
and I think is a crucial part of Star Wars history.
I love this era of Star Wars games and I love that Aspyr
is putting some games from this era on the Switch.
So again, you can try it for yourself for just 1499
at the link in the description below.
(water bubbling)
Sorry anybody got a USB-C charger.
(water bubbling).
So if you're new here
the biggest reason why I recommend this controller
is because of the D-pad. It's perfectly clicky.
It feels almost exactly like an original S.N.E.S controller
but you know, newer obviously. But it also has
all of the makings of a great modern controller.
It's thumb sticks feel almost exactly
like a DualShock 4 thumb sticks, making this a great option
for 3D games if you need something that could do both.
Here's something I often forget to mention.
It comes with a rechargeable battery, but it can be removed
and replaced with two double A's if you're in a bind,
something Microsoft should take note of.
It also has great motion controls and rumble.
The only thing that it's missing
that the Nintendo Pro Controller has is NFC.
But at the significantly lower price point,
are you really gonna be missing NFC that much?
The original SN30 Pro+ was and still is $45.
This new one bumps the price up to $50,
which is still a reasonable price
and some harsh competition for Nintendo's $70 controller.
It also works on Switch, Windows, Mac, Android,
and Raspberry Pi via Bluetooth, which is great
if you wanna play emulators or 2D games via Steam.
It's an all-around great controller
and I haven't even mentioned any of the new features yet.
Everything that I've said is also available
on the older $45 model.
The Pro 2 Sports 2 assignable back buttons.
This is a very welcome addition
and something I wish more controllers included.
My only gripe here is that
they're a little too easy to press. They're very large.
It's very difficult to grip the controller
without touching these buttons with your middle fingers.
In an intense game of Mario Maker
I accidentally press these buttons many times.
Luckily, by default they're assigned to nothing.
So pressing them did nothing at all.
You can assign functions to these buttons
using the brand new 8BitDo companion app.
In fact, you can remap all of the buttons
using the companion app.
And there are three different assignable profiles
that you can swap between on the fly.
Technically there's four because
there's just a baseline default one which is great
for when you don't wanna accidentally hit the back buttons.
Pressing this button right here switches between the modes.
There's off one, two and three.
In addition to remapping the buttons,
this software also allows you to fix the sticks dead zones.
It's also supposed to let you fix the trigger sensitivity,
but I couldn't figure out how to do that in the app.
I can only figure out how to do that on the desktop version.
But I like having my trigger sensitivity set really high
so they're like hair triggers because almost no Switch games
registered trigger sensitivity anyway.
Upon further review it seems that they disabled
the trigger sensitivity tab for the Switch.
So they got rid of trigger sensitivity
entirely for the Switch which is weird
'cause there are games that could still use it.
But if you go to Android or DInput or whatever,
it shows the trigger sensitivity, which is very strange.
You can also adjust vibration levels and of course,
macros, which go great with the new additional back buttons.
Previously, I used to assign macros to the share button.
Now I don't have to, unfortunately, the macro functionality
still, isn't very intuitive. You have to program it yourself
in the app, one button at a time. You can set the timings
between button presses but that's way harder to do
than just inputting a macro yourself on the controller
and having it record your inputs.
Something I've seen in a few other devices lately.
I hope that 8BitDo can eventually update
the Ultimate software and the Pro 2's firmware
to have this sort of functionality.
Because right now the macro function is pretty much
all only useful for like fighting games.
They did add the ability
to use thumb stick inputs for macros.
So if you have more patience than me
you can figure out some macros for Smash Brothers.
What might be more useful is assigning a turbo button
which is useful for many games, namely Animal Crossing.
I have a whole video on that if you're interested.
The old Pro+ had a turbo function but with this new Pro 2,
it might be worth it to assign one of the back buttons
to enable the turbo function. You can also have
the other back button assigned to hold.
So it will hold down a button forever.
So you can breeze through long menus or something.
Another useful feature that was recently added.
You can set the left stick to be swapped with the D-pad.
This is useful for games like Link's Awakening,
which should have D-pad support, but it doesn't.
There's also an option
to swap the right stick with the triggers.
I think that's some fighting games.
But my favorite part about this new mobile app
is that it allows you to change your settings on the fly.
You don't have to disconnect it from your Switch at all.
You can have it connected to your Switch
and the app at the same time.
This is something that you could not do
with the previous desktop app. This is huge for figuring out
the timing of macros or finding out the right button mapping
for yourself and immediately trying it out in the field.
One of my least favorite things
about wireless controllers like this
is connecting it to the Switch.
I often find myself just (indistinct) the button
till it finally comes up.
This controller alleviates some of that pain
by adding a mode switch on the back.
On the previous Pro+ you had to hold Start and Y
to enter switch mode. Windows, Android, and iOS,
all had different corresponding face buttons.
You expect me to remember all those.
There was also no indication
what mode you were currently in.
Now it's as easy as just flipping the switch.
You have Nintendo Switch, Apple DInput and XInput.
XInput is for Windows and Android.
DInput is for like old. I don't know it's
just probably don't worry about it. Other than all that
the only other real difference is it's enhanced grip
which is really just a textured back
similar to the textured back
of the new DualSense controller.
Other than that, this controller feels exactly the same
as the old SN30 Pro+ controller.
Switching between the two reveals that the face buttons
feel more responsive on the newer one.
Maybe it's because it's newer
and I used the shit out of my old one.
It's hard to tell.
- Oh no. - Hit the button, dude.
I think this controller.
(upbeat game music)
You know, I'll try, I'll try the top ones.
The buttons, the build quality, everything feels the same.
The Pro 2 comes in gray, black and GB edition.
I pre-ordered myself the Game Boy looking one
so I'll be getting that one when it eventually comes out.
But 8BitDo sent me their gray edition one, which looks like
it's attempting to resemble a PlayStation 1 controller.
It's an okay design. The A, B, X, Y buttons
colored like PlayStation buttons is like unsettling.
It's like a sin. The strongest design that they have
is definitely the Game Boy looking at one.
8BitDo used to have controllers that looked almost exactly
like Super Nintendo and N.E.S controllers,
but I'm sure they strayed away from that
so that they weren't bullied by Nintendo's lawyers.
It's also probably why they don't have
a Super Nintendo looking one at all anymore.
But I mean, the feel of the controller
is more important than anything else. And for 2D games,
there's nothing better than this,
until you find your Lord and Savior keyboard keys baby.
So if you haven't yet picked yourself up a 8BitDo controller
now might be the time to make the jump.
$5 extra for the back buttons,
the updated Ultimate software, the mode switch,
the custom profiles that can switch on the fly.
Yeah, I'd say it's worth it to get this version
over the original or Pro. Now is it worth upgrading to
if you already have an original SN30 Pro+.
That I'm not sure about.
Maybe if yours is starting to feel like shitty.
I know mine started to feel like
a little unresponsive, I guess.
I don't know how to describe it other than
it just got shitty and then I had to buy a new one.
But if you're perfectly content with your original SN30 Pro+
then it's probably not worth dropping an extra $50
on a brand new controller. It's like 90% the same controller
and about 10% new hotness. Or maybe I'm sure
you could find a way to justify it.
Maybe you could teach your grandma how to do Kaizo Mario.
What do you guys think about the brand new 8BitDo Pro 2?
It's a lot easier to say at this time.
Is this gonna make you finally make the jump
into getting an 8BitDo controller? Or it's something that
you would consider upgrading to from the original?
I don't think you really need to
unless like yours got like old crappy.
If you have a Nintendo Switch Pro controller already,
and you find yourself playing way more 2D games
this might be worth getting in addition to.
I mean it's like a second,
you get a second player with it to.
Leave in the comments below, add me on Twitter
and all this social media garbage.
As always we have new videos here all the time,
at least once a week.
This week, I think you're getting two, lucky you.
And we got streams over on twitch.tv/wulffden
where we can hang out and chat with each other
about stuff like this. Look at that.
Make sure you turn on notifications for all of that stuff
so you know, when we go live
'cause you can't rely on YouTube or Twitch to tell you.
But of course the most important thing right now
is just subscribe. Thank you.
I appreciate you for wanting to watch these videos.
And share this video with a friend.
A friend who maybe hasn't gotten
one of these controllers yet and it's still stuck
with the freaking regular role Pro controller.
Or maybe they're using the freaking split Joy-Cons
like a real, degenerate.
(gentle music)
Thank you. Have a good week.

Powered by Wear OS, the OPPO Watch Is an Android User’s Answer to Smart Wrist-Wear
Complete with the World’s first dual-curved display, the OPPO Watch is a Google user’s answer to the Apple Watch. I’ve been trying it out for the last few months and have been absolutely amazed by its style and functionality. But is that because I’m so used to the form and functionality of the Apple Watch?
Available in 41 or 46mm, the OPPO Watch is designed for life; if it weren’t for its curves, you’d absolutely be forgiven for thinking that the Apple Watch heavily inspired it. The 41mm Wi-Fi-only version is available in Black, Pink Gold, or a Silver Mist color, while the 46mm comes in Black or Glossy Gold with a choice of a WiFi-only version or an LTE option. As someone familiar with black smartwatches, I opted for the Black, but it’s all about your personal preference. Not to be confused with the Apple Watch, I was actually confused about why the company, even with the name. OPPO decided to call their watch the OPPO Watch instead of opting for a unique name that doesn’t seem like the company is just copying and playing off of Apple. Outside of the US, OPPO is a huge smartphone brand, and I get that. However, maybe naming it something different, say “the Op Watch,” wouldn’t come off as someone who’s newly discovering the brand as “oh that just sounds like a knock off Apple Watch” just looking at the packaging.
I received the 46 mm, LTE model for review.
Aside from the obvious style and name comparisons, the OPPO Watch holds its own as an everyday, all-terrain smartwatch that looks great whether you are dressing for business or casual. One thing I immediately noticed in my first two weeks with the OPPO was its battery life.
If you are an Android user, battery life is something you’ll truly appreciate in the OPPO as it will keep up with your lifestyle. I’ve been able to use the OPPO Watch for roughly a day and a half on a single charge, completing over 18K steps, two workouts, and overnight wear — all without turning it off or changing any settings. Your mileage may vary, but for a watch that boasts an always-on display and Tilt-to-Wake functionality, I was surprised that my constant tossing and turning in the middle of the night, as well as getting up periodically to change my baby daughter’s diapers, allowed enough battery for me to not only to wear it overnight but for the watch to survive without a charge until roughly 2:15 pm the following day.
The 430 mAh battery allows for a quick charge, so if you have a low battery and need to top it off before heading out somewhere, that option is available. According to OPPO, you can get 16 hours of power with a 15-minute charge. While I’ll say that it does fast charge if you have every setting such as Always-On Display, GPS, Bluetooth, 4G, and Wi-Fi connected, the chances are that you might not get that 16 hours. If you also factor in alerts and notifications (which I don’t receive many of on my Pixel), this could also drain the battery.
I was surprised by the aluminum alloy build in terms of design, complete with the ceramic back. It’s wider than I’m used to, and for some reason, it reminded me a bit of the Casio Calculator watch of the ’90s, minus the buttons and dreadful wristband. I expected the watch to be heavy on the wrist, but I am delighted that it is comfortable to wear and doesn’t feel heavy after a long day at work or the gym. It has a 1.91″ long rectangular 3D flexible AMOLED screen with 402 x 476 pixels at 326 ppi. At about 1.6″ wide, it’s a bit wider than the Apple Watch, which I wasn’t too keen on because I don’t typically spend too much time looking at the information on my wrist, so the need for a large display while a good idea, reminded me a bit of a Dick Tracy-esque watch that sat too wide on my wrist.
My biggest complaint regarding the OPPO Watch isn’t about its design, but it’s connectivity. I connected the watch to my Verizon Wireless service, paired as a smartwatch for $10 a month with my Google Pixel 4XL. This not only allowed me to take calls-on-the-go but if I left my Pixel in the house while going on a run to the store, I could still be reached by my wife. While the 4G connectivity was comparable to that of the Apple Watch, the Bluetooth and GPS, unfortunately, were not.
Paired with the Jabra Elite 75ts, I would take my OPPO Watch on the go for runs; for some unknown reason, the Bluetooth would randomly drop. I wear my watch on my left wrist, and when running along the beach or even just taking a walk around the block, the audio in my headphones would cut in and out. I thought the issue might have been with the headphones first, so I swapped them out with a pair of Shure AONIC 4 Bluetooth earbuds, but I encountered the same issues. As of now, I still haven’t truly found a remedy for this other than simply bringing my phone with me on runs and allowing the audio to play directly from the Pixel. This is a huge problem that I hope that OPPO fixes it —hopefully soon, in an OTA update.
Despite this, the OPPO Watch is tailored for the active lifestyle. The company prides itself on the smartwatches five exercise sensors, including the GPS + GLONASS. Allowing you to track your heart rate and other physical stats accurately, you can get five-minute workouts with a tap of the screen, which is great on a busy day. This is something I’ve wanted Apple to include for years, so the fact the OPPO Watch has this built-in not only is great but has the potential to make Google’s Fit program even more robust to compete with Apple’s Fitness+ program that will come out later this year.
Another health highlight is the improved sleep tracking that gives you a detailed report about your sleep state if you’re into that. I didn’t realize that I wasn’t getting a consistent  7-8 hours of sleep without interruption until I tried this function on the OPPO. Compared to the Apple Watch’s sleep “apps,” which seem to be more miss-than-hit than the OPPO. I know that Apple has also included sleep tracking in their new OS. However, I haven’t yet fully tested that in comparison to OPPO’s built-in function.
As you can tell from my review, most of my likes and dislikes come from comparing the OPPO Watch to the Apple Watch. The OPPO Watch’s design looks better than Apple’s to me because of the curved display; however, where the watch falls behind is the internal OS. Wear OS, in my personal experience, tries too hard to be a mini-Android phone on your wrist, rather than being a smartwatch that complements your smartphone. Others have shared this sentiment about other Android watches, and the OPPO Watch falls into this trap as well — it felt like it was trying to take everything people love from Apple, including a play on its name, without focusing on the OS. The OS isn’t OPPO’s fault; it’s Google’s. Google seems to be sabotaging its smartwatch line with a lack of proper OS updates and a complete disregard for making the watch a watch first and a smartphone tool second.
In terms of Wear OS, my main gripe is that it feels like not much has changed about the software throughout the years. Compared to the likes of Samsung, Wear OS this year received its first true update since 2018, and even in the update, I’ve discovered constant freezing in the OPPO Watch when doing things like setting timers when cooking or even delayed ringing between answering a call from my phone on the OPPO Watch. At first, I believed this was isolated to the OPPO Watch, but after reading about other people’s problems with Wear OS, I discovered it wasn’t the smartwatch but the software. While I haven’t experienced this on a workout, it would be a huge deterrent if I’ve logged in many steps or miles and received inaccurate readings because the watch stutters to log appropriately.
The upside to Wear OS, though, is that it is more useful than Apple’s Siri. With a quick “Hey Google,” I’m able to ask virtually anything I’d ask Google’s app on my phone and get similar results. No stutter or “I can’t find that” like the Apple Watch, and honestly, I fell in LOVE with that. Also, with Wear OS, I love the ability to see notifications CRYSTAL clear thanks to notifications being color-coordinated; this saves me a bunch of time knowing a glance at my watch that the Facebook notification that I received could wait to see what my Grandmother posted.
So, it is the OPPO Watch one of the best Wear OS watches available? Yes. Is it better than the Apple Watch? Absolutely not, but again I’m attempting not to be biased. I enjoy the color coordination of notifications and the ability to turn off the Always On Display (the 2.19 update patched a bug that fixed the display showing up grey, causing more battery drain, which has resulted in steady battery life for me. For reference, my battery life on my Series 5 watch seems to have worsened with WatchOS 7, which is right on time for them to release series 6, which I will not be purchasing.) Is there room for improvement? For sure. In terms of improvement, I think the 41mm model should’ve had the same curved edge display as the 46mm. Feels like OPPO decided this would be more “premiere” for the 46mm version; however, not everyone likes large square watch faces. The 41mm looks like a sweet spot for both women and men alike and would look a bit more elegant with the curved display.
I have grown to love the two buttons on the right of the OPPO Watch. Both buttons are used to navigate the OPPO Watch; they can be readily identified, have enough raise that allows you to know when they are pressed — and do not snag on fabrics like the Apple Watch’s turn wheel. The watch is also water-resistant for up to 50 meters, which seems to be the industry standard these days; if only I lived in a warm enough climate to have enjoyed a day at the pool wearing this. So let me end the review by saying this: If I were ever completely to leave Apple, I’d have to leave the Apple Watch with it. And aside from Wear OS having its quirks, the OPPO Watch might be the only watch I’d consider for my Android device. The curved screen is obviously the highlight feature, but aside from that, the familiarity with the form factor means I can go out wearing it. Nobody would be able to tell the difference until a colorized notification popped up. I just really, really wish that Wear OS would fix the constant freezing in an update.
If you’re interested in getting your hands on the OPPO Watch, I would say to get the LTE model so you can truly enjoy the ability to use cellular service on your carrier. I wish that OPPO would’ve included this in their 41MM version (it’s Wi-Fi only). You can learn more about the OPPO Watch by clicking here.
The OPPO Watch sells for $480 for the 46mm model and $299 for the 41mm model. Oppo is in the process of launching this watch globally; it will be coming to the US soon, and we will update with a link on where to buy once it does.

What I Like: Innovative design & Curved Display; Ability to use with LTE data for $10 on Verizon; Colorized Notifications
What Needs Improvement: Wear OS has issues which are present in the OPPO Watch

End of the Year 2019: Games of the Year
Hello everyone, it's that special time of year again! Time for me to shower praise upon some games that I absolutely adored, while mentioning some games that I liked, but not really enough to put on this list. For a remarkable change of pace I have a full list of ten for the best of 2019, however I only have four for the pre-2019 so that's a bit disappointing. If you notice any glaring omissions for the best of the year the simple explanation is that I probably just didn't play it, or I didn't play it enough for it to enter consideration. I also didn't really play anything this year that stands out as particularly bad, there was maybe one game, but I don't have it in me to write a full length thing to expound upon its terrible state. There are also some games that I'm disappointed I didn't get to play, but hopefully I'll be able to in 2020.
Honorable Mentions:
Tumblr media
God Eater 3. I've sunk almost twenty hours in to this game, but I haven't played enough of it to really make a declaration that I think it's good. I still intend on playing the game to the finish, but for all I know the game could take a real nose-dive in quality towards the end. I have a desire to go back and play the previous God Eater games as well, so I guess that could be considered an endorsement. I like the visual style in this game, the models all look very nice, and the monster designs are pretty neat to look at as well.
Tumblr media
Remnant: From the Ashes. I never quite got to finishing this game, but from what I played this was a pretty fun little co-op shooter. There are some things that the game does that I don't particularly care for, some of the one-shot enemies in the swamp level, the confusing design of this one dungeon in the desert area being particularly troublesome things I remember. I would love to go back and finish this one, but as it stands it'll have to stay with an honorable mention.
Tumblr media
King of Fighters XIV. I'm not great at fighting games, but I still enjoyed this game a whole hell of a lot. But like I said I'm not great at the game, but it's a fun one to pop in every once in a while just to get annihilated by all the killers online.
Tumblr media
Death Stranding. Please don't post spoilers here. I've greatly enjoyed my time with this game, but as with Remnant and God Eater 3 I didn't finish this one. I've played maybe about twelve hours into this one, but I don't know if that's enough to really comment on the games overall quality. As with God Eater 3 for all I know it could take a real nose-dive in quality.
Tumblr media
Hollow Knight. I played a very little amount of Hollow Knight, but I liked what I've played so far. Hope to go back and finish this one before Silksong comes out.
The Elder Scrolls Legends. I quite liked the Alliance War and Jaws of Oblivion expansions. It's a shame they've cancelled all further expansions for this game, because I liked the story based ones they've put out in the past and I was hopeful for more sets in the future. It was never a particularly great game, but I liked what they had going for the longest time.
Pre-2019 Games of the Year
Tumblr media
04: Death Mark
This is a fun little RPG/Visual Novel horror game that came out in 2018 that I got a chance to play back in May. It's an investigation game where your character and a host of other characters are trying to solve the mystery of their death mark. A strange design that looks like a bite that materializes on their bodies one day. If they don't get to the root of the problem they die a horrible grisly death. I like the episodic nature of the game with each chapter revolving around a mystery involving a different type of vengeful spirit than the other chapters. There is a small combat element that happens toward the end of each chapter that isn't particularly deep to deal with as it's more puzzle-based rather than being an actual combat engine. It doesn't feature much in the way of blood and gore, but what's there is frankly mortifying to look at. I played it on the Switch, but the game is available on the PS4 and PC as well. Death Mark is definitely worth playing through at least once.
Tumblr media
03: Monster Hunter 4: Ultimate
I'm ever so slowly going through my 3DS backlog and finally played through this one. I can understand why people say that 4U is their favorite Monster Hunter game because it is just an absolute blast to play through. I really like the design of the monsters in this game especially Gore Magala and Masharu Magala. I don't know if I would recommend it over World or Generations Ultimate but I had a hell of a time playing through this game.
Tumblr media
02: Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen
I love the way the combat in this game feels. I love how you can climb on the monsters and start stabbing away at them. Magic and ranged combat feel really good, and I especially like the Pawn system so you can keep trying out other player's pawns until you hit that sweet spot of the type of combat you want to have for the game. The story is a little basic, kind of your typical "slay the evil dragon" storyline even though it's great how the game gives you a personal reason to want the dragon dead. Guy stole your heart after all, literally ripped it from your chest. I liked the story towards the end when you actually face off with the dragon and all that occurs from then on that was great fun. I played this on both the PS4 and the Switch port that came out earlier this year (I guess I could've put this in the 2019 category), and I was surprised at how well the Switch was able to play the game. The game doesn't look completely awful in handheld mode, and it kept a stable framerate throughout my playthrough. The PS4 and PC versions look better of course, but the Switch version keeps the spirit of the game rather well and is just as good to play there as on the other consoles.
Tumblr media
01: Nioh
Bill Nioh's adventures in feudal Japan was a great time. This game made me consider the notion of a mission/loot based Diablo done in a Dark Souls style to not be the worst thing I've ever heard. My only major complaint with the game is that there's too much vendor trash in this game. There's also the problem that you'll be constantly switching from one version of your weapon to another with barely any time to gain "familiarity" with your weapon. Familiarity means you hit slightly harder than you would with another version of that weapon, but with how many variations on whatever weapon your using you'll constantly be scrapping older versions of your weapon and armor without really raising your familiarity. I wish that the game would've gone with an experience meter per-weapon deal rather than loading you up with a million variations of each weapon. Like a leveling bar for Katana, Dual-Blades, Nodachi, and so on, there's already a skill-tree for each weapon, so I think an experience meter for each weapon would work better. It's not a deal-breaker by any means, but I think it might work better.  I like the mission-based focus of this game rather than being a pseudo-open world affair like most Soulslike games. I still need to play through the expansions before Nioh 2 comes out.
Games of the Year 2019
Tumblr media
10: Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night
This was a good Metroidvania to play through, and certainly better than I thought it was going to be. I enjoyed the various weapons you can acquire throughout the game, the spear and great swords were particularly fun in my playthrough for instance. I have some minor complaints that arise towards the end of the game, but they're not major issues. A boss fight or two will just absolutely destroy the framerate while you're fighting them (I can only imagine how they play on the Switch if the game was dying on the PS4 Pro). I liked some of the extra bosses you can fight like the Millionaire's Bane and the bonus boss that's Definitely Not Simon.
Tumblr media
09: Untitled Goose Game
An amusing game to play, and I had a fun time playing it. It's definitely not the deepest or longest game to come out this year (from start to finish the game is maybe four hours long), but it's a fun enough "nuisance simulator." It reminds me of playing a game like Hitman, cause Goose Game is definitely a stealth game, even if every time I completed an objective I unfurled my wings and honked to assert my dominance over the people in the village.
Tumblr media
08: Samurai Shodown
As previously mentioned I am not good at fighting games. Yet despite my being bad at them I find myself constantly going back to SamSho just to get obliterated online. I positively adore the art style in this game and the completely vicious gameplay. Unlike some other fighting games you can be destroyed within mere seconds of the match starting. If you play super poorly your opponent can cut your lifebar down from 100% to next to nothing with one or two moves. It's very exhilarating when that happens, or when they do a super that just destroys your lifebar. It reminds me a lot of samurai movies in that way where guy does the move and the opponent just stands there for a second then falls over dead. I get the impression that this is going to be a "small pond" scenario where there's the handful of godlike players and everyone else will just get bodied everyday, but I really love this game. I absolutely despise the final boss in the arcade mode.
Tumblr media
07: Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice
Speaking of games that are absolutely torture to play. Sekiro is really insidious, the first half or so of the game is relatively easy, but then you hit a certain boss and the game decides its done toying with you and will just start absolutely and utterly destroying you. Every single boss fight from that point forward are some of the most brutal and agonizing fights that have been put in a video game. I had to give up on playing this game for a few weeks because I was getting too tired of throwing myself against the wall in the hopes that this time I'll get the best of this bastard. After finally killing the final boss I had vowed to never play the game again. Then two days later I started a new-game plus playthrough. Whoops! I love the verticality of this game, being able to jump and use a grappling hook was absolutely great. Despite my complaints about the sheer difficulty of the bosses  I love the combat in this game. It is particularly exhilarating when a guy makes to stab you with a spear and you stomp it into the ground and take him out yourself. Masataka Oniwa and the Divine Dragon are hands down the best fights in the game, with the final boss being a particularly noteworthy bastard of a fight. Oniwa and the Dragon are great because of the sheer spectacle of the fights, whereas the final boss is great because of he is a great amalgamation of everything the game has thrown to you at that point. I liked this game a lot, but I certainly don't hold it against anyone who decides the difficulty is too much.
Tumblr media
06: Nioh 2 Beta
Meanwhile Nioh 2's beta was an absolute gem of a thing that I played this year. Sadly I didn't get into the private alpha towards the start of the year, but I did download the public beta and proceeded to sink nearly thirty hours into it. I love the new weapon they added to the game the switch glaive, which is a combination knuckle weapon/spear/scythe depending on your stance. In low stance it's a lot like Bloodborne's switch-axe or spear in that the blade covers your fist and you punch it into enemies. Mid-stance it turns into a spear, and high turns it into a scythe and I had great fun trying out all the forms in this beta. I adore the fact that the game gives you a devil trigger for your spirit animals, and I love the fact that this game has a character creator. It seems like they're keeping the volume of the drops to the same level as the first game, but that's fine. I cannot wait to get my hands on the full version.
Tumblr media
05: Devil May Cry 5
This was a great game, filled to the brim with some amazing set-pieces and great moments. It very much feels like a "greatest hits" version of Devil May Cry combining all the elements from the four original DMCs and also bringing over some stuff from DmC. I was worried a bit about the game being similar to DMC 4 and splitting the action into "Here's the Nero section, here's Dante's, and V's" but it worked out pretty well. It gives you a mission or two to get used to how the characters play but not too much time that it feels like "you've learned this character, but screw that learn Dante." It all blends itself really well. They each have their own feel which works really great with their differences in character, but for my money Nero is the best to play as. The story is also really fun to play through, it has some amazing moments even if some of the stuff is really silly. Also the game gives us Nico, and she's really great.
Tumblr media
04: Monster Hunter World: Iceborne
The jump in difficulty from the High-Rank quests to Master-Rank was crazy. Maybe it's because I got rusty, not having played World since roughly February, but I was not really prepared for the increase in difficulty. That said I still adore this game, plus they added both Zinogre and Stygian Zinogre, the only way they could've made an already great game even better is if they were like "and here's Gore Magala and Masharu Magala." I like the new hunter's hub, and they made the game so much better with all the variations of monsters they added to this game. I like the Seething Bazelgeuse and Blackveil Vaal Hazak a lot, and the Ebony Odogaron has an amazing looking set of armor. My only wish was that they add some variations to other monsters, I would've loved to see a variation to Kushala Daora or Teostra and Lunastra. I like the clutch-claw very much even if it's the reason my deaths in hunts has skyrocketed. I can't help but wonder what they're going to do for the next Monster Hunter. What can they do to improve this for the inevitable PS5 and Xbox versions? HD version of Gen Ultimate?
Tumblr media
03: Blasphemous
The past couple of years I've grown really dismissive of pixel-art 2D games. Just something about the way they look made me grow weary of them, and maybe I've missed out on some amazing games. Then I believe it was E3 2017 I saw a trailer for Blasphemous and I was instantly drawn to it. There was some combination of the religious horror and gore that just made me very excited. Then the game more or less disappeared, then I laid eyes on this game's trailer and I was instantly back in. This game is absolutely wonderful to play, I love the unlockable moves the game gives you as well as the amazing bleak tone and atmosphere in this game. I like the fact that the more you die in the game the more the game covers up your available MP meter, that's a nifty little mechanic, and I liked the paying money to cure yourself from that problem. It's flavorful, and fits with the tone very nicely. I plan to one day go deeper into why I think this game is as good as I think it is, from both a gameplay and aesthetic sense, but I don't think here's really the place to do it. It's a very good 2D exploration game, and I love it to pieces even if I do think some of the bosses aren't good.
Tumblr media
02: Fire Emblem Three Houses
Aside from Monster Hunter and Samurai Shodown I probably spent the most time with this game. One campaign playthrough took me over a hundred hours, and I'm presently ten hours into a second playthrough (of four). I went with the Blue Lions for my first playthrough and I really liked the story the game presented to me. It's not without its faults but overall I quite like what it did, I felt that it was a nice upgrade from the storyline from Fates. I get the distinct impression that there was originally going to only be the Red Eagles and Blue Lions routes but then someone at IntSys just went "give the Golden Deer a path" and so here we are. I don't entirely understand why there's the weapon degradation system in this game, for the relic weapons sure, but for your standard weaponry it doesn't make sense. That said I do really enjoy the missions in this game, there aren't any that really stand out as horrible. I like most of the characters in this game, and it kept me gripped for the entire length of the campaign. A ton of fun this game.
Tumblr media
01: Resident Evil 2
I played through this game six times in a month, and once more while I was writing this list. I really, really enjoyed my time with Resident Evil 2 and it is positively astounding that Capcom did such a great job with this game. There are some minor complaints I have with the game, the second run having the completely silly and superfluous handgun with its own ammo certainly stands out. However the game is positively gorgeous, sounds phenomenal and is just ridiculously fun to play. In addition to the wonderful base campaigns there's also the revised 4th Survivor and Tofu modes, then in the summer Capcom released the Ghost Survivor DLC missions which are fun little challenge modes to play. I love everything about this game Capcom really knocked it out of the park with this one, and I cannot wait to see what they do with Resident Evil 3.
The real game of the year was all the War of the Spark pre-release, and the drafts I did. Both IRL and in Magic Arena and Online. That and Core 2020 Pre-release.

Journey to the Savage Planet Review — A Brand New World
January 27, 2020 1:00 PM EST
With an enticing, hilarious world that’s constantly fun to explore, Journey to the Savage Planet could be one of 2020’s sleeper hits.
It’s tough to put a label on Journey to the Savage Planet. The first-person adventure wears the hats of many genres while channeling its inner No Man’s Sky, Portal, Metroid Prime, and Ratchet and Clank. Very often, a game with multi-genre ambitions and influences can lose its own identity, but Journey to the Savage Planet proves that a game can be both familiar and original.
You play as an employee of Kindred Aerospace, a company that proudly boasts about being the fourth-best interstellar exploration business for the eighth year in a row. Kindred’s CEO Martin Tweed is an enthusiastic chap who seems to be modeled after Aperture Science founder Cave Johnson. Both have a penchant for communicating via prerecorded video messages with an unintentional comedic flair. While you are in your spacecraft, known as the Javelin, you can watch a series of hilarious ads that pop up on the various screens in your humble abode for what can only be described as product placement for the worst products ever created.
youtube
“Journey to the Savage Planet proves that a game can be both familiar and original.”
As a part of Kindred’s Pioneer program, it is your job to discover, explore, and research planets that are suitable for human habitation. You are sent to explore the planet known as ARY-26. The trip there used up all the Javelin’s fuel so if you want to return to Earth, you will need to find an alternative source for fuel. None of this will be easy as a series of budget cuts have limited Kindred’s resources and they can only provide you with the most basic equipment and a snarky, sub-par AI companion named EKO. Luckily, your ship comes with a 3D printer that, with the proper resources, can craft better gear and upgrades. You’ll need to gather these resources which are found hidden on ARY-26 by extracting them from the creatures and plant life that inhabit it.
Once you step out of the Javelin, a new and exciting world awaits. It’s a brilliant and bright universe that contains hidden dangers that betray its beauty, including flora and fauna of the friendly and nefarious varieties. You will want to scan everything! In addition to providing useful information, the scanner report contains amusing anecdotes or jokes that get compiled into the Kindrex, which is Journey to the Savage Planet’s version of Wikipedia.
Admittedly, I often skip reading this information in games but here, I looked forward to unlocking new stuff just to read the descriptions. The description of the Infected Pufferbird, for example, results from what happens when parents don’t vaccinate their kids. I also can’t say Baby Shock Fruit plant without singing it in the form of the Baby Shark song.
The object of Journey to the Savage Planet is to unlock the secrets of ARY-26 by completing quests or missions that involve solving puzzles, platforming, combat, and of course, exploration. It’s not long before you realize that you may not have been the first explorer to probe this uncharted territory. This further adds to the mystery of the planet and might explain Martin Tweed’s growing interest in your work.
Gameplay is both intuitive and satisfying with the control scheme feeling responsive and fluid. With that being said, you should still expect to die several times because often, you will come across areas and tasks that you aren’t optimized to complete yet. Sometimes failing is as much fun as succeeding since death is never permanent thanks to the Bio-Replication Chamber that 3D prints a new body with all of your memories intact. Upon dying, you will need to return to your place of death if you want to reclaim the contents of your backpack which leads to the new you encountering your former self’s dead body. You can even bury your former vessel and in its place a tomb marked with a reminder of how many times you have died appears.
While it’s full of hidden objects, secrets, and hidden areas, Journey to the Savage Planet is a game that is meant to be finished. I applaud Typhoon Studios for this because, while in theory, we say we want our favorite games to go on forever, we don’t mean it. I know I often feel overwhelmed when I’m presented with seamlessly unending games like The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and Grand Theft Auto V. It’s not that I don’t appreciate games like this, but I just don’t have the time or attention span that they require and I end up missing out on large portions of the game.
Journey to the Savage Planet is the perfect length and when I finished my first playthrough, I wanted to immediately go back for the pieces I missed. It wasn’t just the length of the game that worked well, it also felt as though everything in it mattered and that I wasn’t burdened with completing unnecessary tasks that were the product of a sadistic developer.
One small issue I had with the game was that having to backtrack after a death becomes redundant. Not that the game doesn’t give you ample fast track points, because, in fact, it’s very generous with them. I just started getting a bit frustrated being sent back to the Javelin after dying, especially on a few of the missions where the transportation pedestal was not optimally placed to where I wanted it to be. I wouldn’t mind Typhoon Studios implementing something like you see in Diablo 3 where you can choose where you respawn even if it comes with some penalty or fee.
“There’s a lot to love about Journey to the Savage Planet but most importantly, it reminded me why I started playing games in the first place: for fun.”
The final boss battle in Journey to the Savage Planet is a challenge so before taking it on, be sure you’ve leveled your character up. There are two ways in which you can do this. In order to gain a higher health and stamina threshold, you need to seek out Orange Goo. It’s found almost everywhere but sometimes, it’s not in plain sight. You will also want to complete science experiments or side missions which will advance your Field Explorer rank in order to upgrade your gear and unlock new perks. These upgrades and unlockables will also require the resources you have been collecting from ARY-26 and its plants and animals.
On a technical level, the game performs almost flawlessly on PS4. Although I do feel I need to mention that I encountered one glitch that caused instant death for no reason after restarting one of the two beacons needed to gain access to ARY-26’s tower. The glitch was eventually fixed, however, and I could resume my playthrough with no further issues.
Journey to the Savage Planet can be played solo or in a 2 player co-op mode with an online partner. It’s worth noting though that my review playthrough was done entirely solo, so I can’t speak to how the experience might be in co-op.
There’s a lot to love about Journey to the Savage Planet but most importantly, it reminded me why I started playing games in the first place: for fun. Journey to the Savage Planet offers a ton of enjoyment in both its gameplay and storytelling. Bravo to Typhoon Studios for kicking off 2020 with what might just be the sleeper hit of the year and mic dropping a brand new IP that shouldn’t be missed.

The sharp graphics are bare minimum, they most definitely chose the comic blocky option, nevertheless for farmville they specified the best choice. Except for my very own specific knowledge i have seen streamers opened packs of 30 heroes at any moment and just find 1 5 legend. Chlorine bleach followers can download farmville, yet if you favor an authentic procedure rpg i'd would suggest chronilogical chronilogical age of wushu: kingdom. The authorisation is definitely important to allow thrust notices. I realize i purchased 4 legend sajin throughout motion picture festivity. (new optimum thresholds are 100/120/150 fundamental/with 4 ascension/with total optimum lvl increaser) aside of these on this website my very own dilemma: since you can now advancement packages by fusing teh identical individuality in unison, can 1 fuse 5* into my 6* or would i have to strength my 5* utterly to 6 then i almost certainly could trash can them into one more 6* therefore the down the road includes a much stronger Chlorine bleach: brave souls was introduced in china this particular the hot months and contains taking into consideration that been saved seven thousand events. My very last strategies regarding this ammunition tool are it's not really the best ammunition tool, there are particular issues but it's a really entertaining ammunition tool for almost any anime supporter, specifically chlorine bleach followers.
