hello other people with chronic pain/illness. what do you do when your hobbies all make you agitated and upset and in more pain but you also can't sleep. this is a legitimate query i will accept any answers. thank u.

#moved into house mostly #adopted a cat #learned that I apparently developed a cat allergy in adulthood #am now fostering the cat while I work on rehoming her #because sending her back to the shelter would have broken my heart and I can deal with a few weeks of allergies #I just can't deal with 15-20 years of allergies #(good news is I have a friend who's great with cats and has contacts and I absolutely trust them to know good people)#(I'm gonna make sure she ends up in a good permanent home it's not her fault I'm allergic to her)#but yeah I'm looking after a little creature and also organizing all my shit and putting my house together #a bit later into fall I should start putting stuff out again

I'm. feeling a bit better than yesterday. calmer, at least. the grief is quiet for the moment. which is good because I have a bunch of homework I need to get done that's due tonight or tomorrow... I'd meant to split it between last night and today, but when I got the text that dona passed I just. broke down and couldnt keep working. so now I'm swamped.

#:/#I also had an allergic reaction to almonds last night so! that's great because that means I've spontaneously developed nut allergies #hazelnut. almonds. I haven't tested peanut butter yet but I have the nasty feeling I'm allergic to that too now #I think. I really could have MCAS. I need to see a specialist to figure out exactly what I'm allergic to because this is getting Concerning #iirc covid can kickstart mast cell issues. mine certainly started right after being sick.

Hey, for writing reference (or real life but the people it's relevant to should already know), epipens and other injections for allergic reactions are temporary emergency treatments meant to keep someone alive long enough to get medical attention. Someone with a severe allergic reaction still needs to go to the hospital even after using an epipen because the effects can wear off or stop working entirely if the person has another reaction.

#this is a pet peeve i have #especially when it's in cartoons and it's about kids having allergic reactions #like i'm sorry but my family has several severe allergic reactions that my sister can develop at any point #my mom has a food allergy that can kill her #seeing a kid in my sister's favorite show having a SEVERE reaction to a food allergy and just being totally fine after an injection?#that shit was scary and i had to sit her down and explain that injections are just temporary

Great news, it is super officially spring in Minnesota on this, February 21 2024, because I had to break out the Claritin. The pollen, it has found me.
