Smitten - Chapter Two - Neteyam's POV
Mild Warning: Just a teensy bit more violence from Neteyam's point of view. You'll notice Neteyam's POV has more detail for little things because he actually cares about the names of people.
Smitten - Chapter Two - Protect - Neteyam's POV
“Guys! Guys! There is a big fight on the sand!” Tuk had called out running inside of the Marui where Neteyam held Lo’ak in a headlock.
Lo’ak had been in the process of teasing him, the headlock was almost instantly dropped because the brothers were both equally nosy when it came to reef drama.
“Let’s check it out, the last one there has to do the other’s chores!” Lo’ak shoved Neteyam out of the way and took off running. Neteyam shook his head laughing, he knew he’d still win even with Lo’ak’s head start.
Neteyam raced Lo’ak there but by the time he had arrived the fight was over, Tonowari was scolding Aonung, Neteyam looked worried for a moment, had Aonung been injured?
Neteyam’s eyes followed Aonung, their eyes met and Aonung gave him a cheeky grin that somehow took his breath away. Only Aonung could wear a busted lip so well. Neteyam heard Tonowari ranting about how Aonung needed to respect Tane, the son of the chief of the Ta’unui.
Neteyam watched Tane stand up with a smirk, and Neteyam knew it wasn’t over yet. He could practically see the wheels in Tane’s head turning as the outsiders seemed to retreat back to the water.
“It is not over yet, I’m going to keep an eye on them, Check in with Tsireya she looks like she’s going to cry.” Neteyam called out to his brother, and much like he said Tsireya has balled out telling Lo’ak about what happened.
Neteyam shadowed the Ta’uni boys, overhearing that Tane had just had his coming of age ceremony and was immediately on the hunt for a worthy mate. Neteyam followed them for a bit to see if they were actually planning on leaving the island.
“Let’s teach him a lesson, no one sucker punches me..” Tane hissed out and the group seemed to shout in agreement, “Let’s get our brothers and show the Metkayina how strong we are!”
Neteyam should have done something at that point, instead he retreated back home discreetly to try and warn Aonung and Lo’ak about what he had heard so they could have been prepared.
By the time Neteyam had arrived back at the beach, he couldn’t find Aonung at all. Neteyam looked frustrated because he didn’t want to tell Tonowari just yet, he wanted to tell Aonung first and make sure he was okay first.
- - - - - -
Neteyam huffed frantically grabbing his riding gear, his visor and leg guards, he snatched his bow and arrow. He could not find Aonung on the island at all, he worried he had been too late.
He rushed out, calling for his Ikran, Etera. His first thought was, perhaps they were still at that spot from earlier today where they had plotted to get revenge over Aonung from beating Tane.
Neteyam growled as he flew over the spot, nothing. They weren’t there. Aonung wasn’t on the island. Neteyam knew he should have just handled the group earlier, he shouldn’t have lost sight of them.
This was his fault.
Neteyam flew around the waters, looking for an Ilu or something that showed where the Ta’unui’s could have been.
“Please be okay.. Please be okay..” Neteyam muttered to himself over and over again as he spotted a small island with a large cave and trees around it. Neteyam felt drawn to it immediately, perhaps it’s because it wasn’t big enough to hold a village. But it was like a small reminder of home.
Or perhaps it was the loud shout that echoed through the cave, “Take the ropes off and fight me like a man!” Aonung’s voice was loud and distinct. Neteyam and his Ikran knew it anywhere by now.
Neteyam hopped off Etera, landing with nothing more than a small thud on the sand as he creeped and climbed up the side of the cave where there was an opening.
Neteyam felt his heart drop, he suddenly felt anxious and scared as he took in Aonung’s bruised appearance. The group had clearly overpowered him and took advantage. There was a series of cuts and bruises along his abdomen and legs, bruises creeping around where the rope had tightly cut off circulation of his wrists and ankle.
Neteyam could only imagine they dragged him by his hair into the cave and ripped out his bun, leaving Aonung’s hair a mess and filled with sand.
Neteyam drew back his bow and arrow, aiming it at Tane while Aonung spoke.
“Take these ropes off and see how well I can fight, you need six men to take me down. I can handle you like nothing.” Neteyam took a deep breath as he watched Aonung wriggle against the rope and lick the blood dripping from his lips.
Why would Aonung provoke him like that? Neteyam shook his head, he knew Aonung had a big mouth and a sharp tongue. He respected Aonung because he would say whatever he wanted, unfiltered.
Neteyam was lost in his thought process when he saw Tane press a blade against Aonung’s throat.
Something switched in Neteyam, it was almost primal as he Etera screeched loud and circled the cave causing a distraction. Etera swept down and knocked a few of the Ta’unui men down on their backs.
There was intense panic as the reef-people were unused to an Ikran, they ran around trying to brace themselves on how to handle the situation at hand.
Neteyam used their panic to his advantage.
Neteyam jumped over the boulder he had been hiding behind. He rushed in smacking Tane with his bow at the same time landing in front of Aonung’s feet.
Neteyam wasn’t himself in this moment, all he could see was red. This group had attacked his future mate, his ears pressed back and he let out a threatening hiss as he placed himself between Aonung and the threat.
They would have to get him first.
Neteyam could hearing muttering and whispers of shock insulting him for his upbringing, but he didn’t even care. He dropped a blade down to free Aonung’s ankles, they were red and purple from how tight they were.
Neteyam was angry, nothing else processed besides these men had hanged up on Aonung and beat him- what would have happened if he didn’t show up?
The rage overtook him and he easily ripped through the group of men, he hadn’t known he was this strong until he had yanked the smaller Ta’uni member and threw him at Tane, he had missed and the member hit the wall unconscious.
Neteyam had kicked and punched, turning his back to one member to defend himself from another, he had the full group’s attention and it wasn’t long before someone tried to take advantage of his back being turnt.
Neteyam couldn’t see it but he heard it, he heard the sound of someone slamming into another, he turned back and saw Aonung had smacked right into someone with full force of his shoulder and head to knock him out. Aonung rolled over panting, grimacing in pain and Neteyam swore he felt the pain too.
“Ma’Aonung!”
Neteyam shouted and grabbed his bow and slammed it across Tane’s back, splitting the wood in two. Neteyam dropped the weapon after noticing everyone was down and could barely move.
The threat was gone.
Neteyam’s cloud of rage was gone and finally the shock settled in, the weight on his shoulders was back and immediately he brought his attention to Aonung who had brought himself up to his feet.
Neteyam took a few shaky steps toward Aonung, reaching for his wrists to cut the rope, “I thought I lost you..” was all he managed to get out before the tears had started.
“Are you okay? Did you get hurt- Why are you crying?” Aonung asked him why he was crying and Neteyam could hardly even hold back his tears anymore as he held the others wrists in his hand.
“I am fine! Look at you! I should have been there sooner!” Neteyam cried out, had he stopped them earlier this wouldn’t have happened. He hated himself for not being there for Aonung when he needed him.
Aonung pulled him for a tight hug and Neteyam felt a sniffle come through but he slowly calmed down, “Look at me.. I am fine. You came just in time.. I knew you would come.” Aonung spoke gently with Neteyam and Neteyam could only nod and accept Aonung’s words,
Aonung knew what to say to calm him down, he knew he didn’t always need to be a strong warrior with him, he could cry like this and Aonung wouldn’t judge him for it.
Neteyam rested his head on Aonung’s shoulder trying to stop the crying, he felt his chest stutter abit in his breathing as he tried to calm down. “It’s okay.. I am here. You did amazing out there.” Aonung whispered, keeping the gentle moment between them.
Neteyam felt his chin get lifted, tear stained cheeks flushed a bit and the two shared a kiss, it was probably their sixth kiss since they’ve established their relationship. But it still took Neteyam’s breath away as Aonung held his waist and pulled him close.
Neteyam heard shouting from the top of the cave something along the lines of “Hold on! FISH LIPS WATCH THOSE HANDS!”
Neteyam flushed even more and quickly pulled away not liking to give a show, he moved fast and accidentally pushed Aonung’s chest. It was gentle but because of the bruises Aonung couldn’t hold back a wince.
“I am so sorry- We need to get out of here now to attend to your wounds- Etera!” Neteyam called for his Ikran, Aonung put up a fight about riding the Ikran and Neteyam glared at him- Aonung had zero choice. Neteyam practically carried Aonung the whole way on the Ikran. .

Genuinely so curious who Mike thinks is gonna be buying The Cage or the new DCTL GN bc with the way he tweets as far as he's concerned, it's not gonna be:
The queer people he has actively admitted he will never show any representation of in the games.
2. The POC he has actively fought against representing in his franchise. [Who he also mocked for thinking they would be represented in his franchise]
3. The Bendy fandom which has always been concerned with topics of diversity esp in the sense of queer people since its creation. Who he has responded to really poorly esp in regards to the GN.
4. The fans who critique him. [He blocked me for doing so lol]
5. His fans in general who he tweets about like this currently. [He's being vague about why people were mad at him or sent him 'nasty messages' because if you actually looked into why you'd see he was in the wrong. Either way, a very hateful way to speak abt ur own fanbase.]
Reminder while Mike is trash talking his fans he has always treated them rather poorly. The fans who won the fanart contest for Chapter 5 never got their posters actually in game due to it being rushed. Not only was chapter 5 a big slap to the face story wise, but it was literally so rushed he couldn't be bothered to add in the art his fans gave him for his game FOR FREE. [Meatly blames this on a crazy timeline, reminder him and Mike are the literal ceos of this company. The proposal of future updates here is also pretty cruel considering Mike nowadays happily admits he corrupted Chapter 5's source code and therefore literally can't update it At All currently. Because he is a moron]
At least they got to be in Boris and the dark survival, and by that I mean that was the Only game they got to be in so far, isn't that just treating your fans like you love them? Shoving their hard work into a spin off game almost nobody has played or addresses much. [Hell, who knows if with the Lone Wolf rebrand they'll even stay there. In which case they'll be in None of the games, only in the credits of BATIM]
6. The Bendy fans who just generally disagree with him on stuff. Like the new ink demon design where there is literally a public poll showing people generally prefer the old one.
7. The Bendy fans who can see he is actively lying to them. To their fucking faces.
He says this has always been the case, but screenshots and links to tweets regarding the books being canon prove it was not. Does he really think bendy fans are stupid or something? [Unless he's admitting here he lied to Kress when he told her the books were canon which sounds worse!]
8. Anyone who doesn't like the idea of giving money to a guy who laid off tons of employees then afterwards thought it was a great idea to express his anti-union views! Also brag about how good of an employer he was, according to his employees, he was not!
So in summary; Mike is an awful person who has not learned anything from the awful things he did. I will not be purchasing The Cage because, combined with this and his absolute refusal to take any kind of critique or see any differing interpretation of his franchise, I have no reason to think my problems with the franchise will ever be addressed or fixed. I probably will pirate The Cage along with any future Bendy Products [Including the movie] and will do my best to avoid giving it any kind of monetary support. Unless this changes any time soon, I can't see myself making anymore positive Bendy posts soon.
Mike has just managed to make it so hard to speak positively or optimistically of this franchise when he's so willing to broadcast how little he cares about it or its fans. I'm at the point where I refuse to pull any of my punches with my problems with it. What's the point of trying to play nice with my critique when either way the people creating it don't care?
So with this post, I want to invite anyone who feels similarly about the franchise to tell me, make a post or send an ask talking about how all of this makes you feel. It may not change how things are, but genuinely seeing other people share my feelings of anger makes me feel better. It feels nice to see when other people share our same concerns and worries. I'd also love to know if anyone else thinks they'll be avoiding purchasing Bendy products over this.
I'm not forcing anyone to participate in it nor trying to say anyone who doesn't supports mike but genuinely maybe if we can collectively decide to boycott things like the movie, graphic novel and The Cage... It might at least make the bendy devs acknowledge how much they have destroyed their own fandom's faith and trust in them.
The way Mike tweets about his actions like he had no control over why people were mad at him at least proves to me he takes NONE of it back nor regrets it. If you didn't know about his actions and only went off his tweets, you would be led to believe Mike has been needlessly picked apart by fans over things he couldn't control [or in his own words, had his words twisted and taken out of context]. That is not how you speak about your actions if you have actually learned better from them.
anyway, that has been my bendy dev callout post. This is an open invitation to anyone feeling similarly upset about the way the franchise is going to talk about it. It's genuinely nice to see how people feel about this and the more we talk about the more it's likely the bendy devs are forced to address our concerns. I don't think they will but hey, that's why I'm not gonna support them with my money anymore nor am I gonna be nice to them in any content I make critiquing Bendy. I mean I'm also basically making this post just in case anyone asks me Why I feel this way towards to bendy devs/as a way to respond to anyone who thinks I am too harsh in my critique in the future.
As always, it seems the best part of Bendy isn't actually anything about canon but about what the fan's are creating with the ideas Bendy failed to do anything interesting with.
Also the books, the books slap.
