In mha universe heteromorphs are considered abnormal, something that can easily make their owners become a target of discrimination, same as other features discriminated in our lives.

Sure we could say that it's only for 'considered ugly' heteromorphs but heteromorph quirks were always considered different as the rest of them. I mean look at Asui(for her froggy appearance) and Shoji(already explored deeply in canon)

Their quirks aren't just superpowers people can turn on and off. It's who they are, and something their owners embrace as themselves.

Losing them is not the same as losing other quirks. Of course, it would always be hard to lose a quirk but losing a heteromorph quirk is similar as losing their identity.

What I'm saying is, Hawks losing his wings can never, in any circumstances, considered Freedom!!!!
