Is a tune worth $500 on a small NA engine?

Hello all, I'm looking into getting a professional tune done on my Mazda3 by OrangeVirus Tuning, it apparently makes up to 10-14 hp/tq gains stock and even more with supporting mods. All I have done is a short ram intake and a custom made exhaust.

I haven't had hands on experience with a tuned NA car, especially not a smaller engine so I was wondering if anyone could share their experience? My biggest frustration is barely any low end torque and if a tune only applies to peak power and torque or if there was a way to fiddle with the power delivery for more low end torque, as my car iseither "on or off". Low throttle does like nothing, half throttle Barely more, full throttle puts me in the back of my seat but it's not comfortable and annoying to have to do just to merge.
