i really love wyll and the way Theo plays him is very interesting to me like i do think to me at least wyll and his character is the No.1 thing that keeps my gameplay from being mundane cause and hear me out on this ( btw this is not going to dive into the whole thing with mizora because if i do we will be here all day and i will write a book instead of a post lol this is about Wyll about who he is separately form that)

any other media with a character that is a folk hero that kills monsters and is a legendary fighter has been written and played in a prideful way almost all of them are loud and proud and spew lines about heroism loudly and arrogantly. they provide their skills and blade for the pursuit of good in a " you are privileged to have me fight for you now that im here we will win because im here FEAR NOT YOU HAVE THE VALIANT KNIGHT OF ___ WITH YOU" type of thing

but wyll WYLL my beloved he is all of these things and he is strong and legendary and he knows it BUT he is not arrogant about it the way Theo acts his lines is genius because there is the self awareness of how strong he is but not a lick of loudness or that delusional grandeur there is he is almost... fun playfulness about it he is amused and always observing and taking in everything he lets the situation fill him up shaping him to it instead of him walking into a a situation and instantly filling it up with his presence. and this morning when i was getting ready i was racking my brain to find any other media that has the same type of feel of wyll the very strong character that knows it but is very chill and amused and calculating knows what he is here for and does it non nonchalantly almost instead of big and loud and it hit me

Some headcannons about Tara and Gale because they make me emotional:

- Gale was a cheeky kid and a cheeky teen and is a cheeky adult always coming up with crazy ideas To which he would tell Tara Enthusiasticly every single time even though she would always initially say no to but he loves sharing

-Tara would then respond by being flabbergasted and wack him on the back of his head with her tail you would hear "Mr. Dekarios!!!!! Good heavens NO"

- but Gale would spend hours explaing to her his very sound plan(not sound at all) and she would eventually agree as long as she tags along

- Tara would often give Gale the look TM that mothers give thier children to get them to sit the fuck down except Tara does it to adult almost 40 year old Gale and you bet your ass he sits the fuck down knowing fully that he is an adult and can just not listen but he does with a smile although some part of him is still scared of that look and the tail smack

- Gale likes to pick up Tara when she is mad and lecturing him with the biggest smile on his face giving her a big ass forhead kiss and starts carrying her in his arms to which she protests to but never stops him and she is definitely capable of doing it but she secretly likes it soshe never does

- Tara has definitely taken gale out of some pesky situations when he was younger and stubbornly refused to listen by biting his collar and flying/teleporting away to which he would sulk about for days

-Tara likes to Tag along to any adventure Gale goes on not only because she needs to keep and eye on him or the fact that she enjoys adventuring but also because she has alot of fun sampling the pigeons of the diffrent regions and also the occasional wing in Gale's face in semi serious situations

- Gale loves carrying around Tara in his tower she either perches on his shoulder or is tucked in his arm like the books he carries

- Gale sometimes forgets to feed himself but never forgets to feed Tara even thou she can hunt fornerself he spends an hour making her gourmet Tressym food.

-there is definitely a food bowl and a soft cushion ontop one of the highest bookshelves in his room because its Tara's favorite place besides his lap

- Gale loves it when his mom vists and spends time with Tara but also kinda dreads it Because it means double the lectures but its endearing enough for him to sit there smiling and listening

- when both are in the house you often here "Gale!! Mr. Dekarios!!" At the same time

-he gets tail smacked twice as much when his mom is around because it makes his mom laugh

- gale often subconsciously reaches out over his shoulder to grab tara gently and hug/cuddle/kiss her and place her on his lap

ANYWAY

Look as an abuse survivor and also as a person still living in a some what abusive situation and trying my hardest to leave ,Astarion's non ascended ending feels like a punishment to me for trying to escape the cycle.

Im Not talking about him burning in the sun again or running to the shadows thats kinda a logical writing move but im talking about how non of tav or the companions even move an inch or go after him...

Like i understand i really do! sometimes you try to escape situations that are impossible to escape but i know that with every attempt you come out a different person than when you started. You gain experiences and friends that make you stronger you mature and change regardless of success or failure and open up new doors of survival..

For astarion he came out of this situation with new friends from all over with new found experiences new found trust and understanding of life, connection, and love and to me it would make sense that once he was "back to the start" he would return carrying these new found concepts and use them to make a situation better

So him completely disapearing and crying alone implying hes gonna go back to the sewers while the companions go on an make a joke feels crule and like we were told trying to break the cycle is not worth it and no one cares if you dont have success.

In my heart my tav doesnt even let him run she throws a cloak on him and gale casts darkness and the companions shield him and shadowheart heals him while discussing whom of the companions is he best to go with and stay at thier house and live there with dignity while we try to figure out a sun risitance potion or spell.

This is called support this is called connections this is called having your friends back

just like how TAV/wyll support karlach and go with her to keep her alive and have her back. She is forced to go back to the start to the place she loaths and swears to never go back to non of her plans work out and life takes her into a different direction. i've been there i know it too well i know she tried to break out of an impossible situation (impossible by game mechanics i know there's a way story wise to fix her engine but its simply not in the game) but she goes back to the start carring all the new found things she learned and gathered along the way. She goes back knowing she is loved she is cared for she is worth us leaving it all behind she goes back with a friend that will support her for the rest of her life. For Astarion's non ascended he doesnt get that...

And that pains me especially knowing what ascended Astarion is like, im not gonna hate on that direction but im just gonna say it feels like we and he were rewarded for reinforcing the cycle of abuse and shat on for daring to try ro break it and that kinda sorta hurts:(

I keep thinking about what mystra said to gale that the orb consumed his gifts as the first magical Item

And then she tells him later that if he had waited alittle more she would have help him get rid of it and he would have become her chosen again

Not ignoring the fact that her help is literally "kill your self gale lol" so she wouldn't have actually done anything substantial to restore gale's power or help him

Im thinking about the second part because if you look into the gods chosens you find they must be powerful with extremely good abilities to be of use to the gods and to be chosen but if gale lost that to the orb then why would she choose him again how would he benefit her

Based on this I think his abilities were never truly gone only the progress he made with it was eaten but he still has what he had as kid and he still can grow it back to its former power

And while mystra was not directly tell him that i think its implied? Shes sneaky as all the gods are they speak in a way that would make things dip in their favor but they don't conceal anything you just gotta dig deeper and she only directly told him the few things that would benefit her current plan to retrieve the crown but she didn't lie about his powers i think maybe made it seem like they are gone so he would do as she says but didn't lie and added that he would be powerful again with time powerful enough to be chosen again and considering how even when elminster was delivering her words to gale he didn't just take them at face value and dug deeper he told gale along the lines of there is still hope for you yet don't yield to the face value of this message "even the waves of fate break upon the shores of will" is not just about the orb and gale dying but its about everything beyond that. And people have been correctly saying the orb effects on his power are like a gifted kid burnout so combining all that i think gale's powers are still there and he is still as powerful he just needs to work on them again but this time at his own pace and alone by himself away from mystra which wont be an easy feat but if gale understands and takes into consideration how the after effects of the orbs take a toll on him (chronic pain for example) he can try again because he has always been brilliant it never went away.

One thing i love about baldur's gate 3 is how even if i write an oc with detailed traits they still evolve and change and get fleshed out more through gameplay and surprise you

My Naré i made her playful and insatiably hungry for information about magic and through gameplay she has become the most perceptive cunning funny bitch ever known to man like she surprises me sometimes with how good she is at noticing things and how cunningly she dodges alot of pesky situations and makes the best of it

3 things that happened as a result of that

1- Astarion cannot catch a fucking break with her nothing he does fools her she dodges all his attempts at folly and he's not even mad about it and its still early game

2- gale is extremely impressed with her and he keeps saying it over and over in many cut scens even thou their approval is not that high yet

3- lae'zel respects the shit out of Naré even thou they only interacted like 3 times i haven't even done the goblins quest thing and she already declared her the most respected companion and also that she wants to lick her filthy face or whatever lol

This might be normal to all of you but compared to my first playthrough this is wildly different my first oc Meera was not calculating or perceptive she was a kill first ask questions later kinda gal not very pleasant with the companions angry and closed off because of past betrayals so i got a wildly different playthrough then too extremely fun but different

Meera killed khaga after speaking to her twice and dealt with everyone after That too

Nare' somehow saved the grove and khaga and the tieflings and didn't fight anyone at all and she is half way through the blighted village and still haven't fought a single goblin her persuasion checks are legendary.

Im having so much fun yall i love this game!
