Meet Skal, enemy of sun and mentor to iron. A man with strange goals and even stranger plans of achieving them. Originally a simple man from the early 1300s, an aspiring astronomer and man of science, he was scorned and embarrassed by his cohorts when he introduced the theory that the stars and planets were alive. Retreating underground, he discovered something that could only be called 'magic', but is rather anything but. A manipulation of 'lines', powerful influence over light, matter, gravity, and everything in between. He amassed together followers who had been turned outcast like him, slowly gaining strength in his little cult before he emerged again to the public eye during the time of the black plague. He garnered more people to his cause, promising them sanctum from the disease through his magic, going on to eventually teach a few trusted individuals his way of the lines. Hundreds of years pass uneventful, learning and growing stronger yet feeling stunted. Amidst his magic research, he attempts to make himself into that of a celestial, but it horribly mutates him, turning him into a dying man covered in feathers and necrotic skin. He manages to keep his incidentally 'cursed' self sedated, but there are times where it overtakes him in his fits of anger, sprouting tooth and nail, numerous more bones of charcoal black across his body. Yet still, his wish to prove his theories right remains strong in his mind, until sometime mid 1800s, a light descends upon the planet. A star. The sun. And he decides to make it his.
