His coughing fits had been getting worse. More and more petals were making an appearance every time, and a few full flowers came up as well. He managed to keep them under control during classes, but training was a different story. 

Today while the class had been working on more special moves. It soon proved to be a mistake to put his body through all that strain when he was like this. Shouto had been in the middle of an attack with his fire when the fit came on. The flowers and petals rising in his throat cut off his breath. He started to cough, having to put his hands on his knees to brace himself as his coughing became more violent. Blood came up with the petals and flower heads, spraying the ground beneath him. The last thing that came up was a whole flower, stem and all. He struggled to catch his breath.

He looked around in a panic. Did anyone see? Did anyone hear? He quickly burnt the petals and flowers, then covered the blood with ice. No one could know.
