OSO remix dump 2... this time character dynamics, something i really liked about OSO but it was constantly hindered by the slog of ideas and creative differences that were really apparent each episode.. but the overwhelming potential was still there. a bunch more images down after the read more so i dont clog your timeline with my autism

ecad will still be a thing (OBVIOUSLY. i headwrote the episode that made it real) but diamond will be more Oblivious and Stupid than before

as a system in the osc i just wanted to say. its surprising how many characters in open source objects are plural coded, and its even more surprising that its done well.

we've watched a lot of object shows, and have seen our fair share of plural coded characters - hell, we have a google doc full of them. but most of them are just kinda... shitty? like possession or evil alter stuff. the only kinda exception to those that is still shitty is yinyang ii, but yk. still not the best rep.

and usually in shows, if they DO have a plural coded character, its only one? two, at most.

but oso? oso has four. and they're all done really well - at least in contrast to most of the osc.

the characters im talking about are: crayon box & the crayons, dangos, putty, and pitcher.

these guys don't really say its bad. and theres a variety too, comparable with the variety in systems themselves. and they treat each member of these 'systems' like ... like people! individuals. but also treated like any other contestant, any other person. they have insisted arguments, they have normal feelings, and system specific feelings that frankly? many systems have.

even pitcher, the least plural-coded of the group, is great. he even says "what if people like my other personality (i.e. headmate) more than me?" which i BET many have felt before. and while the system members are the least separate for him, he could easily just be a medium system - which would be SO COOL, i've never seen rep for medium systems before.

what makes this even more impressive is that all of these were accidents. the coding was accidental. and yet? it was still good.

yeah, i'm kinda sad it isnt canon. but you know what? i can make my own canon plural rep. this is just us saying that... that oso is good, dangit. and that its contestants are good. and that its rep is good and that you should watch it.

I'm glad you feel like you have excellent rep regarding this show! you guys deserve it.

After fumbling and failing my way through this morning’s OSCE (please pray for me), I ran an impressive list of errands in around 1.5 hours time: dry cleaning, blood work, buying chia seeds, sending out gift cards to our panelists from last week, eating lunch, and filling my prescriptions. Mind you, this was all done while there was a 1 hour wait for the bloodwork. I am impressed with myself!

In the evening, our CBL group finally had an in-person meetup and went to Anejo, where we got four pitchers of margaritas between the 5 of us who drank, a bunch of tacos, and a bunch of churros. Everyone surprisingly came, and it was a fun time overall. Who knew people could be so different off Zoom?
