Also Oscar and Eric's relationship is probably my favorite thing in the entire manga They're both amazing characters and each interaction is gold They can fight with each other, they can discuss anything, they can share worst details of their personal life almost right from the go and they both care deeply about the same person and they both know it and trust each other then it comes to dealing with that person's problems All their talks where they don't say exactly that they mean build on trust that the other will understand, how they know each other normal behavior and when it changes It's just such a wholesome relationship, no matter if its friendship, romance or something else, it's just great cause it's very clear they like each other, care about each other and about the same people, and they support each other because they have all this in common And it's a vital part of that makes this story great and complex and interesting even now i guess

Alan Arkin: The Kominsky Method Actor Dies Aged 89
Tumblr media
Veteran US actor Alan Arkin, known for his role as the outrageous grandad in the film "Little Miss Sunshine," has passed away at the age of 89. Arkin, who received an Oscar and a Bafta for his performance in the movie, had a career that spanned seven decades in both screen and stage productions. His sons, Adam, Matthew, and Anthony, confirmed his death in a family statement released on Friday. Describing their father as a uniquely talented force of nature, both as an artist and as a person, the statement expressed the deep love and admiration they had for him. Arkin was not only a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather but also an exceptional artist who left a lasting impact on the entertainment industry.
Tumblr media
Alan Arkin won the Oscar 4 times in his career In addition to his film roles, Arkin lent his voice to the character of JD Salinger in the Netflix animated series "BoJack Horseman" from 2015 to 2016. Paul Reiser, Arkin's co-star in the Netflix show "The Kominsky Method," shared his grief on Twitter, mentioning that a world without Alan Arkin would not be so great. He reminisced about the first time he saw Arkin on screen and how getting to know him and making him laugh was a highlight of his life. Michael McKean, known for his role in "Spinal Tap," also paid tribute to Arkin, considering him a hero and a friend. He shared an anecdote from his early acting days when people questioned whether he wanted to be a serious or funny actor. McKean would respond by asking, "Which kind is Alan Arkin?" because Arkin's talent and versatility defied categorization. McKean described Arkin as charming, hilarious, and possessing an impeccable sense of detecting nonsense, making it a pleasure to be around him. Arkin's career extended beyond acting, as he ventured into directing early on and received a Tony nomination in 1973 for his work on the play "The Sunshine Boys." However, it was his performance in the 2006 film "Little Miss Sunshine" that brought him widespread acclaim and recognition. Playing the role of Edwin Hoover, the foul-mouthed grandfather, Arkin's portrayal earned him an Oscar and Bafta for Best Supporting Actor. The tragicomedy revolved around a dysfunctional family taking their youngest member to participate in a child beauty pageant, and Arkin's character became a memorable part of the film. While Arkin received critical acclaim for his work, he never let the buzz and talk surrounding him affect him. In his memoir, "Out of My Mind," published in 2018, he revealed his struggle with misery despite his earlier success. He shared how he found solace through meditation and turned his personal life around. Acting had been his lifeline, providing him with a sense of existence and purpose on stage. Throughout his career, Arkin showcased his talent in various roles, including his portrayal of Lester Siegel, a pretend Hollywood producer, in Ben Affleck's 2012 historical drama "Argo." The film depicted the Iran hostage crisis and the daring plan to rescue the captive embassy employees by creating a fake film. Arkin also appeared in adaptations like Mike Nichols' film version of Joseph Heller's satirical novel "Catch-22" and received Emmy Award nominations for his television work, including shows like "Escape from Sobibor," "The Pentagon Papers," and "The Kominsky Method." Arkin's contributions to the entertainment industry were recognized with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2019, honoring his remarkable career and enduring legacy. Read the full article

Highlights from Melodifestivalen: Week 2
Melodifestivalen continued this weekend, taking place in the city of Malmö. Hosts Sarah Dawn Finer and Marika Carlsson started the show off with a rap battle, which apparently is a thing in Sweden, contrary to popular belief.
Seven new songs were presented, and four moved onward in the competition.
Who Made it to the Final: Malou Prytz and Hanna Ferm & Liamoo
youtube
15 year-old Malou Prytz came out of nowhere to take one of the top spots this week. And it was well-deserved. "I Do Me” is a real bop, and Malou couldn’t be cuter. She looked like a baby Zara Larsson at Saturday’s show, and her performance popped thanks to her earnestness. This will be one to look forward to at the Final next month.
youtube
Swedish Idol 2016 winner Liamoo (a.k.a. Liam Cacatian Thomassen) teamed up with Idol 2017 runner-up Hanna Ferm for this highly-anticipated duet. You’ll remember Liamoo from last year’s MelFest; his song, “Last Breath,” came sixth in the final. This year’s attempt, “Hold You,” is even better. It’s essentially an old-fashioned love song, but in the hands of these young singers, it feels modern and fresh. It’s likely “Hold You” would do quite well at Eurovision.
Who Was Sent to Andra Chansen: Andreas Johnson and Vlad Reiser
These guys were sent to Andra Chansen.
Moving on.
Who was ROBBED: Margaret and Oscar Enestad
youtube
Margaret (who’s actually from Poland) has had several break-out hits in Sweden over the last few years. She’s a pop princess who made her MelFest debut last year and finished seventh at the final. For her return, she came with “Tempo,” a fun little number with that characteristically-Margaret calypso sound. Maybe it was the green screen, maybe it was the dress, (it could just be because she’s not actually Swedish?) but viewers didn’t fall in love with this entry. She finished in fifth place, and won’t be moving on in the competition.
youtube
In 2018, we saw Felix Sandman of beloved boyband FO&O go solo with a big boy song, and the move really worked for him– he came second in the contest and it launched a whole new career for him. This year, his former bandmates, Oscar Enestad and Omar Rudberg (Miss Omar will be performing next week), will try to repeat the same success by debuting their solo efforts.
For Oscar Enestad, this one had a lot riding on it. See, for several years now, 21-year old Oscar has been in a controversial relationship with a much older woman, Cecilia Dahlbom, age 50. And not shockingly, his parents had a difficult time accepting his new girlfriend. So he wrote “I Love It” for MelFest and gave us the best song of the night. The staging, the rose petals, black nails and a silken shirt– the DRAMA of young love! Unfortunately, Sweden wasn’t having any of it. The shock of the night was when this former boybander finished in last place. More people voted for 86-year old Jan Malmsjö than Oscar. The good news though, is that "I Love It” entered the Spotify charts at #16, the highest of any MelFest songs from this week. Also, word is that Oscar’s parents are finally okay with his relationship. Love wins!
Melodifestivalen continues next week in Leksand.

Whiplash (2014)
🥁🎼🤯
Written and directed by Damien Chazelle, this psychological drama film stars Miles Teller as Andrew Neiman and J.K. Simmons as Terence Fletcher in a story of how far one student is willing to go, under a tremendous amount of ambition by a ruthless teacher, to become the greatest jazz drummer of all time.
Other stars of the movie include: Paul Reiser as Andrew’s father Jim, Melissa Benoist as movie theater employee Nicole and Austin Stowell as fellow drummer Ryan Connolly.
Miles Teller and J.K. Simmons are a perfectly inspiring team. Teller strikes up the performance of a lifetime considering he is adept at staying tirelessly true to his craft just the same as his character. Simmons (whose gripping performance stands out from everything else) has this incredible ability to give speeches that are both moving and intimidating, which is exactly what Fletcher does to his pupil. The role even won J.K. Simmons multiple awards, including the Oscar for Best Supporting Actor.
Throughout the movie, the relationship between the two characters varies greatly from a chance encounter to a very unconventional method to keep jazz going.
Fletcher treats his students harshly because he pushes them beyond the level of expectation to see if they have what it takes to be a professional musician, hence Andrew has to play harder than he ever played and give up everything in his personal life (including his sanity) to focus on being the next Buddy Rich. Sometimes, after moments of relentless playing, his hands would bleed. But it represents Andrew putting in a lot of effort to earn his spot as Fletcher’s top student.
On that note, some real-life jazz players would only care about devoting themselves entirely to the joy and rhythm of the music. They’d even berate anyone they would see as secondary or unable to match their playing techniques. That’s why other than trying to impress Fletcher, Andrew wants to play like Buddy Rich since he idolizes him. Another comparison to Buddy Rich is Andrew can even play drums by memory over sheet music.
The soundtrack features both original jazz pieces and some classic jazz standards. They include “Caravan” by Duke Ellington and Hank Levy’s “Whiplash” from the Don Eliss album Soaring.
Finally, the memo is even if life sometimes leads down a grueling path, you will eventually succeed if you practice hard enough to get where you want to go. All that said, I recommend this intense, triumphant indie film to every fan of jazz music.

It's kind of long (17 films!) so text below or link here.
MEN, WOMEN & CHILDREN (2014)
Based on the titular novel by Chad Kultgan, Men, Women & Children explores the ways in which the internet and the cybersphere have influenced relationships in the modern world. While the film was not a huge success, it captured the moment that social media became an increasing part of our daily lives. And although Chalamet only has a minor role in it, he made enough of an impression to move on to bigger parts.
INTERSTELLAR (2014)
In just his second feature, Chalamet landed a small role in Christopher Nolan’s sci-fi odyssey Interstellar. And what a film to appear in.
It details former NASA pilot Cooper’s (Matthew McConaughey) quest to find a habitable planet for the last vestiges of the Earth’s human population. But the cost of the voyage is never to see his children again.
Playing the astronaut’s son Tom, Chalamet impresses alongside McConaughey and John Lithgow. He was also party to one of the most emotionally charged scenes of the film when Cooper sees footage shot by Tom before leaving on his expedition.
WORST FRIENDS (2014)
An under-the-radar, straight-to-DVD release, Worst Friends is arguably the least well known of Chalamet’s film appearances.
A dark indie comedy set in New Jersey, it explores the strained relationship between two young men, one recovering from a traumatic accident, the other his unwilling carer. It might not be an essential Chalamet film, but for die-hard fans, it’s worth watching to see him on the cusp of fame.
ONE & TWO (2015)
Chalamet co-stars as one of two siblings living in forced isolation, with a controlling father and a terminally ill mother. The brother and sister both possess the power of teleportation, a gift their parents actively discourage them from using.
The film looks beautiful and the teleportation scenes have a certain charm. The imagery is the film’s main draw, but Chalamet delivers a solid performance as a stifled teen.
THE ADDERALL DIARIES (2015)
An adaptation of the eponymous true-crime memoir by Stephen Elliot, The Adderall Diaries explores trauma, memory and the bias we project onto our past. James Franco stars as the author, who recently wrote a book detailing the abuse he suffered as a child at the hands of his father. While promoting it, and researching his new writing project based on the Hans Reiser murder case, Elliot begins to see how his perception of his childhood might not be as close to true events as he previously thought.
A little rambling at times, with a narrative that deviates significantly from its source, Chalamet nevertheless wins plaudits as the brooding young Elliot in key flashback scenes.
LOVE THE COOPERS (2015)
Chalamet joined an all-star cast for this Christmas-themed drama. Following the festivities of four generations of a chaotic family, the film was a significant international hit. It also gave the young actor more opportunity to learn from acting greats like Diane Keaton and John Goodman.
MISS STEVENS (2016)
Chalamet livens up Julia Hart’s poignant directorial debut, an award winner at South by Southwest Film Festival.
The narrative follows a recently heartbroken high-school teacher who accompanies three students out of state for a drama competition. Chalamet shines as a talented, emotionally deprived youngster who is prone to acting out.
CALL ME BY YOUR NAME (2017)
It was his portrayal of Elio that catapulted Chalamet into the cinematic stratosphere, convincing audiences and critics alike of his talent and immeasurable on-screen charisma.
Luca Guadagnino’s sensational Mediterranean romance was the perfect role for the young actor, giving him the space to prove himself, as well as allowing him to show off his multilingual abilities and musical skills. The film captured countless hearts and Chalamet was rewarded with Golden Globe, BAFTA and Oscar nominations.
HOT SUMMER NIGHTS (2017)
In this bildungsroman crime drama by Elijah Bynum, Chalamet plays a coltish teen sent away to spend the summer with his aunt in Cape Cod. There, he meets a gang of delinquents and is seduced into assisting them in their drug-dealing hustles. Entering the fast life, the actor sheds his natural innocence, while his screen charisma blossoms.
LADY BIRD (2017)
The indie event of 2017, Greta Gerwig’s directorial debut features the endlessly talented Saoirse Ronan as rebellious Christine in a smart comedy-drama that captures the impetuousness, anguish and unalloyed joys of youth.
Chalamet plays Christine’s boyfriend Kyle, an über-cool, slightly pompous, chain-smoking musician. Throwing about conspiracy theories, and a pseudo-intellectual take on pacifism and the Iraq war, the actor still imbues Kyle with an innate likability.
HOSTILES (2017)
Scott Cooper’s harsh, revisionist Western offered Chalamet his first scene-stealing cameo. It’s the story of an embittered, war-ravaged cavalry officer (played with usual conviction by Christian Bale) tasked with chaperoning a dying Cheyenne chief and his family back to their tribal homeland. Chalamet appears as French private Philippe DeJardin, who accompanies the officer on the first part of his journey.
BEAUTIFUL BOY (2018)
Felix Van Groeningen’s biographical father-son addiction drama gave Chalamet his most challenging role to date. Based on the memoirs Tweak: Growing Up on Methamphetamines by Nic Sheff and Beautiful Boy: A Father’s Journey Through His Son’s Addiction by David Sheff, the screenplay is harrowingly authentic and sincere, requiring Chalamet to portray Nic with the perfect level of angst and introspection. It saw him earn more BAFTA, Golden Globe and the Screen Actors Guild Award nominations.
A RAINY DAY IN NEW YORK (2019)
Chalamet collaborated with Woody Allen on this Big Apple confection (and later donated his entire salary on the film to charity). He plays Gatsby, a wealthy liberal-arts student visiting Manhattan with his girlfriend, budding journalist Ashleigh (Elle Fanning). The pair find themselves separated as Ashleigh becomes increasingly beguiled by the city, while Gatsby grows ever more disillusioned.
THE KING (2019)
Chalamet’s portrayal of a monarch-in-waiting is a stunning showcase for his talent. As the young Hal, he is a carefree wastrel, living with little responsibility and enjoying the company of his friend John Falstaff (Joel Edgerton, whose screenplay adapts Shakespeare’s Henry IV Parts I & II, and Henry V). But As Henry V, King of England, he embraces his God-given right to power and suffers no fools or conspirators. In his first war film, Chalamet displays his versatility and leading-man potential.
LITTLE WOMEN (2019)
Chalamet reunited with Lady Bird’s Greta Gerwig and Saoirse Ronan, along with a stellar cast, for a thrilling new adaptation of Louisa May Alcott’s American classic. In a supporting role to the March sisters (Ronan, Florence Pugh, Emma Watson and Eliza Scanlen), Chalamet nevertheless delivers a charismatic performance as Laurie.
Ronan and Pugh went on to receive Academy Award nominations for their roles in film, while Chalamet was also praised for his unwavering charm and affecting vulnerability.
THE FRENCH DISPATCH - RELEASE DATE 21 OCTOBER
Wes Anderson’s fabulous paean to The New Yorker is a typically adroit, stunningly realised and obsessively detailed comedy. It premiered to huge critical acclaim at the Cannes Film Festival and features such an astonishing all-star cast that even the smallest roles are filled by well-known actors.
The film is divided into three stories, a divertissement and a bookending section that details the titular magazine’s beginnings and end. Chalamet appears in one of the main stories, in which Frances McDormand’s journalist encounters a young radical leading a revolution against the French establishment. Anderson makes the most of the actor’s hair, transforming it into a character of its own, while Chalamet’s expressions resemble a star of the silent screen, each conveying his emotional state. It’s one of his most guileless and effortlessly charming performances.
DUNE - RELEASE DATE 21 OCTOBER
Of all the roles any young actor could dream of playing, Paul Atreides, the protagonist of Frank Herbert’s sci-fi epic, must rank pretty high. He is at the heart of every aspect of this universe-spanning tale. Kyle MacLachlan played him in David Lynch’s confused 1984 version, but in the first of what will hopefully be Denis Villeneuve’s two-part take on the vast tome, Chalamet takes up the mantle. And he’s perfect. If Call Me by Your Name, Beautiful Boy and The King highlighted his talent, here Chalamet steps into the shoes of stardom. And they fit perfectly.

Ingen detalj for liten. Spesielt ikke på homofronten. Love it! Og alle er med. Marcel Proust, Oscar Wilde, Henry James, Sarah Bernhardt… Hele bunten. Så, vil du lese noe som off the beaten track? Denne. Anbefales. #julianbarnes #pozzi #labelleepoque #themanintheredcoat (ved Grünerløkka) https://www.instagram.com/p/CR68xjAp8_U/?utm_medium=tumblr

On a side note:
Eric is such a menace He's not bad or cruel, but he just woke up one day and chose violence He lives through weirdest school experience, but manages to react to it in a way that makes people around him regret their life decisions at least once He makes stupidest decisions even though he's smart and observant His mood changes all the time, he shouts at and gets into fights with half people he meets He gets scared thinking his roommate might kill him, but then the said roommate can actually do it Eric just goes "well, ok, i've tried that, didn't work" He doesn't want other people comparing him to some other guy he didn't know, but he also has hard time distinguishing between his own thoughts and feelings and that of the mentioned guy He got not very politely declined entry to a seminary and he scared a priest His best friends are:
- his murderous roommate, with whom he probably bonded almost solely on the basis of their shared mental instability - the guy who tried to prevent him from interacting with the mentioned roommate at first because he cared for that murderous guy, it backfired, and now he has to look after two unstable guys instead of one, so they're friends
In the end he's still just a small feral guy, but he's a little better at controlling his actions and words

WHIPLASH
KESEMPURNAAN BERDARAH-DARAH
The Spectacular Now bersama Shaillene Woodley.
Simmons).

 Kepuasan Rasa Indie
Breathless.
Artistik?
