Hey! Were back! We have a lot some stuff to get through so lets get started!

A New Face?

Yep! Let me introduce you to a new UTBB character; Princess(?) Emily Emerald!

Emerald is a spider monster that you will be familied with in the demo and through out the story. She lives in the Ruined sewers with the rest of her sibling, maybe you'll even get to meet a few of them

Progress!

[ Coding ]

As of writing this, our custom base UT engine is almost complete! We only need to work on a few thing regarding the battle & overworld system. After that we will start implementing some changes such as adding out reworked magic system and a few new special changes.

Then we'll get to work on rooms, tilesets, and backgrounds!

We only have a small amount of OSTs at the moment, but were trying to chip away at at it step by step! We don't want to overwhelm anybody here since most of the team have their own projects they have to work on as well.

[ Writing ]

As of now the demo as been fully written out! With the addition to new team members and the director reaching out to different writers in and out of the community, the game has under go some major rewrites which were heavily needed. The rest of the game has been perfectly outlined and I'm currently halfway through the Geno/No Mercy script for the Snowden section. However, writing for the rest of the Ruins after the demo on pacifist and neutral runs is still a work in progress

The plan is to work on neutral scripts after Pacifist and Geno scripts are done. Just to make things a little easier on the teams main writer (Skill issue we know lol). Also, I am glad to say that all of UTBBs main cast as been fully made! Yes we still need to work on their section/area script but like I said before, those have been neatly outlined.

Social Change

As you may have noticed, UTBB has been freely promoting other projects and as been collaborating with other creators. While we are still participating in these collabs we have decided to take a step back in promoting other creators/project. In all honesty, that wasn't supposed to happen. You see, out director is really proud of the following he and this project has gained, and thought that he was "popular" enough to promote lesser known projects or projects just starting out in development. And as you can see he's been promoting a lot of projects. More so it's starting to feel like that's all he's doing publicly and fears that it may be a bit to much.

So with that being said, we will be taking a step back from the promotion of other projects after this dev log. However! We will leave a list (now) of projects that Reed planned to promote but never had the time until now and won't be put up in promotion ever again (unless super big news comes out like the demo/full release or it being cancelled).

when i was younger, as my only sources were Youtube (mainly animation memes, comic dubs, and UnderVerse), and googling info, i was very confused. i thought it was one big coherent story and felt stupid by not understanding it. to put it simply i thought everything i saw was canon and had to made sense with everything else. and a lot of those things i "knew" were heavily fanon.

today, i would say that i read the original media of some of the most popular AUs (Aftertale, ask Error!sans, Ink!Sans original comic and FAQ, Horrortale, Killer!Sans comics, Othertale animations + reading the recently released scripts on AO3) and follow people that discuss a lot both fanon and canon things so i'm better informed but i still have progress to make.

and the thing is, the fanon things i knew back then had a very black and white view to see things (and so did i) and the original stories and explanations are way more nuanced, complex and interesting. fanon is fun, but so is canon. you can love both, of course (i do). but do not claim fanon as canon (as explained in previous reblogs). aaand have fun because really that's the purpose. to have fun.

— reading source material is super fun 'n interesting (in like 99% of cases. there's AUs that would have deserved better to my humble opinion) so i would highly recommend it as someone who has few sense of canon lmao. so from there you do whatever you want i can't stop you but it's enriching for your perception of all the stories that take places in the UTMV. and please for stars' sake if you REALLY want to (politely and open-mindedly) argue about whether a thing is canon or not, check the source media. it could avoid misunderstandings and younger me should have known that.

I think the undertale fandom has a problem {especially in the past} with spreading misinformation because no one actually chose to read the canon material and just keep saying headcanons as canon

who is hacked Color?,is he canon to color's story? or just a noncanon what if?

So (one of?) Othertale’s script/dialogue writer(s) released the full Othertale: Before the Hack and some of the Othertale shorts scripts a few days ago. You can find links to those here. It even features some pre-canon stuff.

The Othertale: Before the Hack script shows parts that were cut out of the first animation—Othertale: Before the Hack (part 1)—and the rest of what I assume was gonna be more animations of Before the Hack.

When it comes to the scripts and animations, from what I can tell, you can think of “Before the Hack” as Season 1 and “After the Hack” as Season 2. It seems like Season 1/Before the Hack was planned to be released in parts in the form of animated videos.

These scripts basically reveal the entirety of “Season 1,” and its ending seems to potentially lead into After the Hack—aka Season 2–if Othertale hadn’t been discontinued.

From what I can tell, “the Hack” is referring to Color—and what happens to him in those scripts. Don’t wanna spoil for you or anyone else if yall haven’t read it yet.

With the recent reveal of the Othertale scripts, I figured it’d be important to remind everyone what superyoumna has said about her AU behind the scenes through asks.

Particularly, about “her,” and how “she” is not Chara.

“Her” could be the Player.

“She” refers to the Player, right?

I’m guessing “Her” is the Player.

Is the Player a specific person with a name?

Did color see the red of killers soul for the first time and assume that what happened to him also happened to killer initially.

Hacked Color appearing is such a good way to Killer show that he already learned from his mistakes and is trying to fix things by controlling himself.

Mainly if he need to show this change to a Player.

I actually have a post in my drafts talking about a similar idea of killer having to be confronted both with everything he did and everything he helped do. But also having to discern what is and isn’t his to take responsibility for if anything at all.

Didn’t have anything to do with red!color, the draft was actually talking about that gap we don’t see between this comic and this comic. Idk if i should post it or not
