Hey Kooks! Been following you since the early days of Deviantart, always loved what you’ve done with Otho since his creation!!! I’m actually very curious if you had an overall story/background for him in Dragon Age that ties in your comics/art so far? I remember from them that his father seemed to be a prolific magister and he more or less tried to follow his footsteps in blood magic, had some adventures in the fade, a Templar friend? What were your headcanons about how he dealt with the blight and years leading to Inquisiton and after?:)

And yes, his story was actually completed to the very end, but it was massive, so I never got to draw / tell all of it and now it faded a bit in my memory. He never was the Player Character tho, so the idea was he only sees the events of Origins or Inquisition either from a side or from afar, or even only repercussions of them, never dealing with them directly.

Long story short: he was a son of a very powerful Magister, trained in blood magic from a young age and destined to inherit his father's position, married off for political reasons, had a child (i do that a lot with my character lol), and a bright future in Tevinvter etc, you know, fancy life but orchestrated completely by someone else's desires.

He was also a Fade Walker - not sure if that was a name, but you know, the person who can walk in and out of the Fade at will, mostly because I wanted to draw a lot of Fade lol, but then it became a thing - so he was escaping there a bit from that life, and on one of such escapades he made a deal with a Desire Demon to help him untangle himself from this situation. And so he did, grabbed his daughter and fekked off.

And then a lot of things were happening: a pampered noble with a child thrown into a wild world, demon haunting him to get their payment back (insert dramatic plot point with the demon actually possessing Otho and doing a lot of wild shit with his face on), daughter growing up and going her own direction, wife trying to find and kill him cos hey, it was her kid too you selfish brat, romancing Templars (there was more than one Templar friend, okay, it became a bit of a thing lol), and ofc walking into (or rather walking past) some interesting plot points from the actual games’ story.

There was a lot about family relationship and that became the main focus of the story, the daughter plot was a big thing, the wife plot too (plot twist: they became really good friends in the end, but it took like 30 years of trying to kill each other to get there, i mean mostly her trying to kill him), retiring with his Templar friend etc. Anyway, i guess i shifted away from in-game stuff pretty quickly towards interpersonal relationships lol.

It ended up with Otho deciding he has had enough of a life intensely lived and he walked into the Fade one day and his body didn't woke up (however it worked mechanically, i don't know, i didn't care by this point), and it was very peaceful.
