Talk about the first ship you ever had. Uhhh… I can’t remember which came first Mulder & Scully or Usagi/Mamoru. (The latter being really icky to me now that I’m older, lol.) I think it was Mulder/Scully… I was in primary school for both of these so it’s confusing cos that was a really long time ago.

Talk about three of the most important ships throughout your life. Mulder/Scully (The X Files). I honestly don’t really feel like “talking” about them cos I don’t think it’s very interesting. Also, I have no idea where to begin. Naomi/Emily (Skins) – I fucking can’t stand them now, to be completely honest. I actually sorta hate Emily. By they (and Skins in general) did have a rather huge impact on my life. Now, I feel like I should put Dany/Doreah but really I think more importantly in terms of my life, it would be Marissa/Alex from The O.C. Does that sound stupid? Maybe. But that pairing (as shitty as they treated Alex and the whole relationship by the end) had a fairly huge influence on me. I think it was my first femslash ship that I was totally open about. (I totally shipped Jo/Rachel (and Jo/Rachel/Paul) from S Club 7 (DON’T EVEN!) but back then I didn’t even think it was serious…even though I had a whole website about it, lmao.)

Do you have any poly ships? I was sorta into Marissa/Alex/Ryan (The O.C.). I started a fic about them. And the aforementioned Jo/Paul/Rachel.

How do you feel about love triangles? Lazy. The thing is, they’re a real thing. I’ve been a bunch and they’re just uncomfortable. No matter what, somebody gets hurt. I just feel like in TV/films they’re SO LAZY. An easy way to create drama for drama’s sake. And one faction of fandom is always upset. And usually they’re really shoddily designed so it’s like one girl, 2 boring ass boys fighting for her WHO WILL SHE CHOOSE?! BLAH……. Boring. “The triangle’s not a friendly shape, okay? It’s pointy. It’s got edges. Triangles hurt people, man.”

How do you feel about RPF? Nope. I’m a bit of a hypocrite cos I spent a great deal of time in my childhood sorta straddling the very thin line here with the whole S Club 7 thing. And, I’ll admit, I did enjoy this April Pearson/Lily Loveless fic once.

Have you ever shipped yourself with a character? No. Usually my favs feel a little too relatable which is why I’m attached to them, not cos I wanna bone them. Also, way too much drama. I mean, fictional characters are almost always exaggerated people.

Do you have many ships that never got together at all? All? LMAO. Okay, let’s see… Sam/Martin did, briefly (Fuck Without A Trace tbh. What a horrid little show.) Chase/Cameron were together and that ended badly as well. Carol/Helen, also ended horribly (so far). Mulder/Scully… that’s difficult. They’re difficult. Marissa/Alex, ended horribly. Naomi/Emily, technically… hmmm. Well, as of S4 they were back together but I didn’t buy it and I pretty much loathed Emily by that point so fuck em. That ended badly too. It ended horribly if you count S7–which I don’t cos I never watched it. If I didn’t see it, it didn’t happen. Bo/Lauren. Okay, this may be the only bright light in all my ships, lmao. They were together and then not, then together, then not, then END GAME. So, I guess the ones that never got together??? Basically just look above at my OTPs and see all the ones I didn’t mention here ending horribly lol.

Do you ship any characters that have never met? ONLY THE BEST ONE: MICHELLE/NAOMI.

Talk about your favorite first kiss. Like in canon onscreen? Or in my head? Big diff. Chase & Cameron maybe. I loved that episode. Mulder & Scully’s first (onscreen) kiss was a bit weird. I don’t remember Sam/Martin tbh. Hmm… Marissa/Alex was hella stilted and awkward prolly cos it was on FOX and like Mischa Barton is a terrible actress. Bo/Lauren’s first kiss was pretty good. Yeah, I really liked that one. Mostly cos it didn’t fade to black immediately (ahem, Carol/Helen) and it wasn’t set to ‘I Kissed A Girl’ (Naomi/Emily)… Okay, in fairness that was only the American version. The one I saw had Lily Allen playing instead… But still. I loved that episode but it wasn’t the best first kiss I’ve ever seen.

Have you ever been disappointed when your ship finally got together? Yes, when they get together only to end even shittier. Which is basically all of them except Bo/Lauren.

Has a ship ever broken your heart? All of them. Canon and otherwise. My heart breaks on a regular basis.

How do you feel about will they/won’t they? Ugh. Useless. Generally, it’s queerbaiting when it’s my femslash OTPs. When it’s het, I’m just like, “As if these two lonely, outrageously attractive co-workers wouldn’t have banged already. Like, give me a break and just do it already. Who believes this shit?”

Have you ever “shipped at first sight”? Lemme think… Probably? I can’t actually recall any specifics however. Not Mulder/Scully, I know that. The first time I saw them, it was New Year’s Eve and I spent the entire show huddled on the sofa in my friend’s basement with her and her cousins, shaking and screaming, lmao. The X-Files really isn’t great TV for easily scared children with big imaginations, lbr.

Talk about a ship you initially disliked. One that I like now that I disliked previously? Erm. None. I don’t flipflop on ships, lbr. It goes like this: I am oblivious/indifferent to ship, depending. I see ship. I ship ship. I love ship. And it’s only then that this can diverge. Either I stay in love forever, or I end up positively hating the show/pairing and I stop shipping it, or it just kinda dies out over time. Normally it’s the first or second, rarely the third.

Talk about a pairing you’ve stopped shipping romantically. And now just ship them only as friends? Or stopped shipping them and dislike them now and don’t want to have anything to do with them? The latter is clearly Sam/Martin. I just hated how the characters were written and the show was fucking awful after S3. The former… Ah, the former. I think this really has to be Naomi/Emily. I am 1457% Naomi/Michelle, no alternatives accepted. Naomily is toxic imo. Like so incredibly nope. I am -100000% Naomily. I stopped shipping them mid-S4, probably during Katie’s episode. I was just like, “Nope, this is pretty gross and not healthy and what the fuck?!” I gave up completely at the finale when it was so fucking stupid. I think by then I’d already had my Michelle/Naomi dream… Anyway. Like, I literally cannot handle Naomi/Emily anymore. At most, I can deal with them as friends. But even then, sometimes I wonder if writing them that way in my fics is pandering in some sense. It’s not intentional pandering to Naomily stans… but, now I look back and wonder? They’re just so awful together romantically. I shudder.

Talk about a moment which made you question an entire ship. Hmmm…. Carol/Helen in Griffith Park in 4x09 when she makes Carol give back her bra. That whole episode was really nasty and really awful and not funny at all. I really dislike the writing there. It was just… Helen was just disgusting really and it made me really uncomfortable about shipping it. I have other examples but it only asked for one.

Have you ever shipped something despite yourself? She-Ra and He-Man. I had no idea they were brother and sister when I was little but I thought they were cute together. Oops. It wasn’t until a few years back when I mentioned them at a party and everyone was like, “Errr, you do know they were twins, yeah?” NO. I DID NOT.

Talk about a ship you feel alone in shipping. Carol/Helen. I feel like the few people that shipped it with me on tumblr here were really turned off by their breakup. And also, it’s been on hiatus forever. Also, I suppose Claire Dearing/Zara Young from Jurassic World, lmao.

Is there a ship you just don’t get, but have nothing against? Most het ones? Like, just… why would you be with that puffy wonderbread boy when you could be with this other hot lady and have 10003x times more chemistry and interestingness? (Like I mean, I’m totally talking about Erin Lindsay and that gay dude she’s fucking, when it would be so much better if she was with Rollins, lmao. You go watch the crossovers episodes and tell me I’m imagining that.) Other het ships, I have definite things against the men.

Which of your ships have the best chemistry? OH GOD. Now, ermmmm…. this depends almost exclusively on my own headcanon/bias so obvs others aren’t likely to agree. Cos, well, Michelle/Naomi have hella chemistry LMAO. Like just look at this photo. Clearly. Okay, seriously… Bo/Lauren. Like hands down, undoubtedly.

Which of your ships deserve better writing? Every single one of them. Especially Dany/Doreah lmao.

Do you mostly ship canon pairings? Clearly not.

Have you ever shipped a pairing before you even started watching the show/movie simply because of gifs and graphics or similar? Skins. Lost Girl. Actually, hmm. I saw gifs of LG but I guess it wasn’t until I saw Zoie Palmer at a film premiere I went to that I was like, “WHO IS THAT?!” And then I realised I had to start watching that programme.

Have you noticed a pattern in your shipping? Is there a romantic dynamic you’re more drawn to? Blonde/Brunette. Like, it’s really obvious. But not 100%. Otherwise, I don’t really see any substantial patterns.

Is there a ship you’ve shipped for most of your life? Mulder/Scully.

Does shipping come easily to you? Neither here nor there. If it clicks, it clicks.

Do you need to ship something to really enjoy a movie/book/tv show/comic? Most of the time. But then sometimes shipping gets in the way of my enjoyment cos it becomes all about the pairing.

Name a couple of fandoms in which you have no ships. Fortitude? Honestly… I don’t even know. I watch a bunch of TV I have no particular interest in shipping anybody. Oh! Here’s one NASHVILLE. I honestly do not care who’s with whom. It’s irrelevant.

Talk about one of your favorite headcanons for a ship you love. Dany/Doreah – Doreah is alive. That’s it. That’s the headcanon. (And bonus, Dany takes Doreah to Lys and burns down the pleasure house Doreah was sold to as a child.) I have to add that most of my fav headcanons revolve around one half of my OTP still being alive. Which is both sad and really telling. (Like… Doreah, Margaery, Naomi, Meg, Marissa, Lillian… Ouch.)

✴ (Zara/Astrid)

For a small town, they certainly held a fair number of parties. Astrid wasn't particularly fond of parties, but literally everyone was going, and they were having a hard time finding an excuse not to. And, well, Zara said she wanted to see everyone there. Even if she didn't say it directly to Astrid, they figured, it might be nice to show their face. Zara might like that. Or maybe not. She didn't know.

People were cutting a little loose-er than normal, too. Probably because the Darkness that had been covering the parks had finally moved on, and the party had been scheduled for the park so it was going better than expected. People were dancing and sniffing those rocks, the scent of which gave quite a buzz. Everyone was happy and a little bit manic.

The person who seemed most manic, unsurprisingly, was Zara. She was always at the heart of things in town, both literally with her hands-on approach to news reporting, but also in terms of reflecting the energy of the people around her. She was, by the time Astrid arrived at the party, standing on a table, giving a speech about the character of the town.

The speech was wrapping up, and Astrid only caught a bit about how we all love each other and care about one another and blah blah blah, before cheers erupted. Some pretty girl that Astrid tried not to recognize as an intern for the town newspaper hopped up onto the table and--

Based on the whoops behind her, Astrid could guess what happened next. They didn't want to watch. Not because they were jealous, but because they didn't like watching PDA. That was definitely a thing they always felt about everyone. The weird sinking feeling was just discomfort. Instead, she headed to the area with the rock-sniffers, figuring she'd need help to match the energy of everyone else around her.

It was a work of pure genius, these anti-glare necklaces. They seemed to be exactly the right thing for solving the problem of the blinding light, and they came in a surprising number of designs. Even Astrid, who was always wary of how people might take to the mandatory accessories in town, had to admit, they seemed pretty flawless.

Astrid hadn't heard about any kind of door-to-door program to pass them out to residents, but it didn't surprise her all that much either. Zara was so socially connected, the mere thought of it exhausted them at times. Still, if there was such a program, they were glad it was Zara who greeted them, and not a stranger they'd have to make small talk with.

"Here's your necklace," she said, holding it out. "And, you know, let me just make sure this one fits."

Astrid was about to object that that wasn't necessary. It was, after all, just a necklace. How could it not fit? But something stopped her. Whether it was Zara's tone of voice, or the look in her eyes, or just their own desire to prolong this conversation a little longer, they nodded and pushed the door open further, inviting Zara in.

She stepped just inside the door. Astrid turned, lifting up their mane of hair to give Zara access. "Do you do this for everyone?" she had to ask.

"No," Zara admitted freely and shamelessly. Astrid flushed at that. They thought it was lucky that they were facing away from Zara so she couldn't see, and then they realized that that meant they couldn't see Zara either. That meant they could only feel her, the soft brush of her fingertips along her neck. The warmth of her skin, compared to the cool metal of the necklace as she skimmed it around their neck.

Astrid stopped breathing. She fixed her eyes on a spot across the wall while Zara finished putting the necklace on. It was stupid; the whole thing probably took no more than 20 seconds, but Astrid felt like they'd had an eternity to hyper-focus on it. When Zara stepped back, they had the wildly unexpected urge to step back, their body strangely cold without the other woman there.

They dropped their hair but didn't turn around until they were sure their heart rate was going to come down eventually. "Thanks," they whispered, not meaning it to come out like that.

Zara stared at them for a moment, and they worried she could read something on their face that they hadn't meant to share, but if she could, she didn't say anything about it. "Any time," she answered breezily.

because zara is a celebrity, once they do start going out, they agree to try to hide astrid's identity for a little while so they can have privacy. they both blow it pretty much immediately though

there's one (1) girl jae thinks is good enough for chan yeol of the ones he is forced to go on dates with, but it turns out she's not interested either and jae finds that Proof in some way

once he's comfortable/secure that he's not gonna get fired, jae starts slipping little meetings or briefings into yeol's schedule with people who could actually improve the world in hopes that yeol accidentally greenlights one of their ideas without knowing he's been set up

charlotte/victoria

after the wedding, victoria lingers back home/near charlotte for an extra week before going back to california because she's not ready to face her real life yet

when they dated the first time around, they used to go to really pretentious museums and stuff like that because they both thought the other one liked it, oops

The air was thick and static-y. Not in the way air in the summer is before a thunderstorm. And not in the way the atmosphere is when the balloons underground were rumbling against each other--a balloon-quake. It was the human sort of static. The sort that made Astrid's skin prickle up with goosebumps rather than literal electricity. The sort that had them breathing heavily.

Zara licked her lip, and Astrid found themself mimicking the movement while her eyes traced it. Zara seemed all-to-aware of her interest. Her eyebrow twitched curiously and she took a step toward Astrid. The static sparked in the air, and Astrid took her own step forward too. There was still a good foot between them, but they both paused there, waiting to see what the other would do.

Astrid swallowed, licked her lip again, and then opened her mouth. "I--" They didn't know what they were going to say. That didn't matter, though, because they didn't get to say it. She felt the warmth of Zara's hand, looping around her belt-loops, and then suddenly she was crashing into Zara.

Their lips and Zara's found each other instantly. They slid their hands over her shoulders and up into her hair as Zara kept a firm hold on her waist. The two stumbled through the room. The back of Astrid's legs brushed the couch, and they pulled Zara down on top of them.

Astrid hadn't been in her right mind when she'd grabbed Zara. Literally. It had been a while since they'd had a Mind Controlling Cold Snap pass through town, but everyone knew what they were like. The frigid air, the inexplicable scent of almonds, and the inability to control one's actions. It was all familiar to any lifer. Still, it embarrassed them to hear Zara talk about it.

They weren't embarrassed that she brought it up, exactly. It'd be easy to answer by admitting that they hadn't prepared well for the weather, since they'd left their mask and goggles at home. That wasn't embarrassing, since the Snap was unexpected. Their embarrassment stemmed more from the fact that, perhaps despite themself, they had also rather enjoyed it. Was that selfish--to do something irrational and then enjoy it? It seemed selfish. Or maybe childish.

"I--" The issue was that now Astrid was in control of their actions. Holding Zara now would be a choice. One she would have to make intentionally, without blaming it on the inexplicable forces of meteorology. "Did you?"

"Yes," Zara said, immediate and enthusiastic. Of course. "I wouldn't have said it if I didn't?"

"Right, but the Snap... Never mind. Uh, thanks. I got lucky I was wearing a cuddly outfit, huh?" They rubbed the back of their head, trying to seem casual and normal and hoping that the way their cheeks were heating up was masked by the cold.

The fire roars loudly, the sound of shattering glass and splintering wood echoing through the town. People line the streets, watching as the town hall is lit up with flames from the passing storm that rained down fire rather than water--and if it weren't for the building being dubbed a historical landmark, it might've received its much needed improvement of being fireproof like the rest of the town had years ago for instances just like this.

Zara stares at the sight silently. As hauntingly beautiful as it looked, it's another reminder that no one in town is ever truly safe. The fact that lives were lost and no one seemed to be batting an eye about that either had her wiping away at tears.

"You okay?"

She turns at the voice, surprised to come face to face with Astrid. She nods, wiping away the tears more fervently. Embarrassment isn't something Zara succumbs to easily, but she's taken off guard to be caught in a vulnerable state by them.

"I know things like this happen on any day that ends in a 'y,' but I don't want to be immune to death occurring the way the rest of the town is," Zara says in soft explanation. It'd make me feel less human if I did.

Her eyes widen when Astrid seems to voice the exact thoughts that had been running through her head. "Like you'd be less human if you did."

"Yes, exactly."

They both smile sadly at one another and eventually Astrid takes one of her hands in their own. They give it a little squeeze and Zara's heart flutters in her chest. When their attentions both turn back to the sight before them, she's still saddened by it all, but having Astrid by her side helps lighten some of those heavy feelings.

Who cooks meals for the other?: Ooh, neither. I don’t think either of them would be safe in the kitchen. Adrian is also not a safe person to find places to eat at because he somehow always manages to eat at places that cause people to get food poisoning (a talent and a curse). 

Who spams the other with memes?: Both. They could probably communicate for a while just by using memes. 

Who likes to tidy around the house?: Neither... (These two are not going to be functional adults if they live together)

Who likes to play pranks on the other?: Sage. Adrian would attempt to but it would end up being too complicated and she’d miss it completely. 

Who asked the other to move in with them?: Adrian, and then warns her that he’d have to figure out where to put his books so she could actually move in with her own stuff too. 

Who is in charge of the music during a car ride?: Sage. Adrian would not be picky about the music, so he wouldn’t mind her choosing what they listen to. 

Who is more likely to tickle the other mercilessly?: Neither? Sage? If she does, Adrian just lets it happen and awaits his death lol. 

Who needs to hold the other during scary movies?: Sage or neither. I think Adrian overthinks movies and points out illogical plot holes, so he manages not to get freaked out by them.

Who wakes up first, and do they wake up the other or let them rest?: They must take turns because I don’t think either of them really wake up at a normal time... But if Sage wakes up first, she probably wakes up Adrian. And if Adrian wakes up first, he’d let her keep sleeping (probably because he ended up reading and forgot that she was still sleeping). 

Who is always taking pictures of the other when they aren’t looking?: Sage. He questions her every time as to why she does that. 

Who always forgets their wallet and never ends up paying for anything?: Sage. Adrian never minds though. 

Who can’t sleep because the other snores or moves too much at night?: Adrian, though technically he wasn’t trying to sleep to begin with, he just notices that he wouldn’t be able to sleep if he did try (he has mild insomnia).

Who always gets up in the middle of the night to use the restroom and accidentally wakes up the other?: Sage wakes up probably, but it’s like half and half whether or not Adrian is still awake.

Who cooks meals for the other?: Yeol probably. 

Who spams the other with memes?: Jae. Yeol hates it. 

Who likes to tidy around the house?: Yeol. A tidy house just makes his life easier. 

Who likes to play pranks on the other?: Jae. And he finds it very amusing how annoyed Yeol gets over it.

Charlotte/Victoria

Who cooks meals for the other?: Charlotte? That or they both take turns ordering take-out to bring home. 

Who spams the other with memes?: Victoria (all the memes are left unread for hours at a time because Charlotte forgets to check her phone lol).

Who likes to tidy around the house?: Charlotte, but only because she wouldn’t be able to find the things she needs to get out of the house.

Who asked the other to move in with them?: Charlotte.

Who cooks meals for the other?: Ethan or neither. Noah would attempt to but most likely burn it by accident. She will happily order-in food though. 

Who spams the other with memes?: Noah. They all remind her of him so she has to send them to him. 

Who likes to tidy around the house?: Ethan, maybe? Noah isn’t a slob, but she also doesn’t mind a mess. 

Who likes to play pranks on the other?: Noah or both maybe. It’s never anything big or elaborate. Just something small, stupid, and/or silly that’ll make the other laugh. 

Who asked the other to move in with them?: Hmm. Idk, Noah maybe? It’d be one of those things where her lease is up and she’d ask him if he’d want to get a place with her as an option. 

Who is in charge of the music during a car ride?: Noah. She’d still play things Ethan likes, but she’d want to make a playlist for them to listen to.

astrid/zara: ❝ i haven’t stopped thinking about the way you laugh. i’m hoping i’ll get to hear it again. ❞

Astrid didn't particularly feel like laughing in that moment. They felt tired, that particular kind of bone-weary that came with doing too much in too short a span. The situation hadn't been funny. In fact, nothing had been funny about that day at all. What laugh was Zara even talking about?

"Huh?" they asked, figuring that covered all relevant questions.

Zara didn't miss a beat. She never did. "The other day when you called into my show. I said something funny and you laughed. I haven't stopped thinking about it."

Astrid's only visible reaction was a flick of the eyebrows. It was about all they could muster at the moment. The barest gesture to acknowledge the words. Otherwise, the combination of shock from the day's events, and shocked from those very words, had drained them of anything bigger. "Oh, okay," they said, just reflexively, not really thinking about the answer.

Zara's face fell, and Astrid played that moment back in their head. I like your laugh. Oh, okay. Not great. Very callous. "I mean, y'know, maybe start doing a jokes segment or something? I'd call in for that." Truth be told, they'd called in for less than that, on days nothing was going on, just because Zara was starting to be habit-forming for them. But they didn't want to admit that. Didn't have the energy for the conversation that might invite.

"Would you?" Zara sounded somewhere between hopeful and amused. It made Astrid smile, despite themself and despite the utter exhaustion.

"Yeah. Yeah, yeah, I think I would." They paused, a beat passing between them and the other woman. I like how you look when you smile, they didn't say. I can't seem to stop thinking about it, they didn't add. "Yeah."
