Here's the second vignette. i have no idea how much you can make out with JUST images but im putting this both under spoilers and giving some content warnings

theres violence, specifically strangulation. but also kicking. perhaps it should be labeled as physical abuse? it's one-sided.

theres a gap of time in between here. thorns and sls are helping test something. physical violence is called for, enough to damage the puppet badly. in a rewrite id probably change this since testing methods of activation would make more sense to do without thorns present ;;;

ill give you the context that this was related to testing the "Self-Preservation" mode.

This is ask #30, wowie!! I've made a couple (3) Activation Logs I'll be posting in the next few days!! There was a comic I was working on, too, but idk when that'll be done, sorry...

I don't have Activation logs for all of them on the Askblog because I feel the first three explore what I want to share right now well enough. Hopefully you guys like LOF, PU, and SLS

In the meantime, I've also updated ToyHouse bios slightly, mostly surrounding relationships.

Here is the third vignette from that series. this is a redraw of a comic im not postinf because the writing makes me want to disappear. this also has some implied spoilers (??) and implied memory manipulation. also dehumanization. i also have to rewrite this one

shes complaining because SLS is (from her perspective) relatively privileged and follows orders without a will of her own. SGIS finds that annoying, I guess.

SLS begins to question her identity again after SGIS suggests she's always nothing more than a machine .

SLS panics and asserts that she's a person, actually. she's promptly deactivated.

the last batch of june images are various vignettes with SLS that were meant to be used in a document with writing. I wrote ONE vignette. im not postinf that here the writing probably sucks and its all wildly outdated by now.

There's another gap in-between for further maintenance.

I feel like the writing at the end here is relatively weak, though it's serviceable enough to get the idea across. Take this as tentatively outdated in case I ever re-write this or a similar scene to be better.

I'm not sure if NCTG would still choose this exact method, but they'd have to break it to her eventually, and they're not great at handling emotional outbursts. She'd figure out / remember the gaslighting again eventually, but by that point, she wouldn't think it was worth it to be upset about it anymore.

also I don't think SLS would have to lie to volunteers anymore that bit is outdated; the nature of the Project is a bit of an Open Secret, and you kinda have to disclose what's actually going on to the people signing the contracts for ethical reasons lol.

I think in an updated timeline, this sort of thing would take place after the First Official Presentation. Rather than concern about her position (bc in the updated timeline she's manipulated by the ideal of living up to NMMST's roles) I think SLS would come into conflict with NCTG at some point during the commissioning process as volunteers seem to keep talking in ways that suggest they think some sort of literal consciousness transfer is taking place (instead of a metaphorical or vicarious one) and go like "hey director. whats up with that" and then. yeah . much to think about....

can I call this a comic? SLS questions her position in the project, I guess. This must've been set between her promotion and the first Official Presentation. I should note that particular details may warrant rewriting, but overall I think this is still fairly accurate / alright.

Intro Post

still on indefinite hiatus whoops.

This blog focuses on my Rain World OCs involved in the "Mobile Iterator Project" AU. ^_^

The “Mobile Iterator Project” (MIP) is a project created and directed by an Ancient named "No Cost Too Great" (NCTG) with the stated goal of supporting standard iterators in their productivity, maintenance, and longevity, so that they can operate at maximum efficiency, even after the inevitable mass ascension. ‘MIP Units’—iterators under the project—are created puppet-first in the "MIP Development Center" and later assigned to Local Groups, where their structures are built to support the Iterators around them. Uniquely, their personalities are heavily based around singular, specific Architects (Ancients) who donate their memories and qualia. The exception to this is TWR. In total, there are 99 MIP Units, with IDs ranging from 01 to 99.

(This AU strays pretty far from the themes and canon of both Vanilla Rain World and Downpour, so please keep that in mind!)

ok I've dropped some terminology and I need to explain it again

Architects: in-universe name for the Ancients. I did not come up with this. I may consider referring to them in other ways, too, mainly depending on the context / their social position, etc. Like... I have seen the name "benefactors" suggested. I might consider that for perhaps higher-class ancients with a lot of wealth or influence. Or perhaps ancients who specifically sponsored projects like iterators.

"Citizens" is more context-dependent, and kinda self-explanatory, but it might also come up. Still not entirely sure about all the various titles and such I want to use for world-building. Fortunately, NCTG uses the titles of "Director" and "Creator" regardless... lucky me!!

Major Cycle: ok time for the timescale brainrot.

I have crossed out the real-world equivalencies, since they are meant to be vague rather than hard guidelines. I view cycles as a measurement of time that vary, after all. (though I'm still not entirely sure how I want them to be measured...)

I don't want to lock myself into restrictions with timescale and measurement. It's just a useful tool for determining a vague ... timeline of events.

I will say, though, that a major cycle is considerably longer than a single human year. So, um, don't equate them.

Additionally, 100 major cycles is considered a dynasty.

SLS struggling to adjust to drawing with the puppet's hands. all of her muscle memory corresponded to different hands, so she had a period of great difficulty.

This is referenced in her first Observation Log.

She overcame the learning curve eventually, but it was a difficult time for her. She had to force herself to keep drawing, and she'd spend long portions of several cycles doing nothing but practicing her craft.
