so. i like character associations! i think they’re fun and can lead to a lot of neat ideas! so i made a list of associations to fill in with any blorbos i choose. and since i’m going to be making multiple self indulgent posts about this, i figure i’ll share the list if anyone who sees this wants to do this too

also, since i’m primarily doing this with gravity falls characters and using the stan twins as examples, i’ll be putting this post in those tags (it can and will be used for non-gravity falls things too, though)

Older owl-griffin Ford from @elishevart‘s The Beast of Gravity Falls au (see the tag for links to the stories as well as lots of art!).  Thanks for giving me the chance to do something with this good fluffy boi!  I hope to do some more with him at some point, he’s such a fun design.

After lots of work with the legs I lost motivation to polish this (and I just don’t have the time). It was a dream I had where Ford and Fidds find a surprising guest inside a big package with materials . Ford was pretty happy. Fidds... not so much. They also kept one of my owl gryphons as a pet (or/and as an emotional support for Fidds). The little one started to “dance” with the spider :D

It’s time for a 2020 art year in review!

Aside from the fact that this was the year in which I completed a comic I’d been working on for almost 2 years, I also feel good about the fact that I kept up a regular stream of art in addition to that comic.  (My output last year was so low that it motivated me to try to better it.)

I did a total of 130 pieces this year; 77 “full” pieces (fully colored, with backgrounds, etc.), and 282 individuals.  (Note that I am counting pretty much every panel of the comic as its own “full” piece, which frankly I feel is fair, because basically that’s what a comic is; it was 50 panels, and I drew 136 individuals for it.  And yeah, pretty much all of that drawing took place this year.  When I say I was “working on it” for nearly 2 years, I really mean it was mostly in the planning stages for that long; I think prior to 2020 I’d gotten thumbnails worked out for it, but the real drawing started in earnest in February.)  I did 3x as many pieces this year as I did last year.  Yay!

Portal Ford and some friends!

Did this because I wanted to practice @pirably​‘s OCs, Marun (black cat), Aru (skull-face), and Fusu (owl-gryphon); because I hadn’t done a classic portal Ford in too long; and because I wish it would snow. ;-)   But yes, mostly because I’m about to start my comic trade for Pirably, which involves all of these (except Fusu) and more!  (And as a bit of a thank-you for being patient with how slow I’ve been on that project.)

Consider this a freeform piece for @forduary​ as well. :)
