QTOD: Are you a mood reader? I definitely am! 😭 I’d say my mood is in control of what I read about 95% of the time these days. Which makes reading an extra interesting adventure and sometimes extremely frustrating. We’re only one week into the month and I’ve already DNFed about 10 books because my mood can’t make up its mind about what it wants to read. I’d get a few chapters in and then it’s like “never mind, thank you, next!”. 💀 Anyways, I started #ACurseSoDarkAndLonely and really enjoyed the first 6 chapters. Hopefully, the best is still to come and I can FINALLY both A) read this series that’s been on my TBR for YEARS and B) commit to a book and actually finish reading it. If you’re a mood reader, any tips on picking books to read? — . . . ⚔ challenges #BookReadHappyHour [RIP my TBR] . and really enjoyed the first 6 chapters. Hopefully, the best is still to come and I can FINALLY both A) read this series that’s been on my TBR for YEARS and B) commit and finish reading at least one book this month. #BrigidKemmerer #bookphotography #bookrecommendations #booksofinsta #goodreads #yabookstagrammer https://instagr.am/p/CiN8cUyNwuY/

QTOD: Do you like books with multiple POVs? I usually enjoy books with multiple point of views as long as there aren’t too many characters. It’s a lot harder for me to keep things straight if we’re getting info and thoughts and feelings from too many sources. But on the flip side, sometimes I find single POVs a little too stagnant… — [Image description: The book, We Hunt the Flame by Hafsah Faizal open to its title page.] . . . ⚔ challenges #AllTheBooksAug22 [hero or villain] #MyFictionalMusings [multiple POVs] . #WeHuntTheFlame #HafsahFaizal #FierceReads #YAFantasy #bookgram #booksbooksbooks #bookishlife #readingtime📖 #instabooks #yareads https://instagr.am/p/ChS3UUitWec/

QTOD: What are some of your favorite dark fantasy or romantasy books? I’m in need of all the recs! Bonus points, if there’s some type of mystery woven into the plot. I started reading more dark fantasy and romantasy books this year and I think I’m in love. They’re quickly becoming some of my go-to genres when I’m in a slump. — I read #TheShadowsBetweenUs earlier this year, and while I enjoyed it, I was kind of disappointed. Especially by the ending. To be fair, I think my expectations may have been unreasonably high - my friend may or may not have oversold how fantastic it was when she was recommending it to me. 😅 Have you read this one? What did you think of it? QTOD: What was your favorite read of the month? Mine was These Violent Delights, although admittedly the more I think about it, the more I want to lower my rating. It’s definitely a bit overhyped but it’s not like it had much of a competition - the only other books I read this month was its sequel (which I liked less), an unfinished (for now) read, and a Kindle Unlimited book that I can’t remember the plot of (oops?). — Not gonna lie, I had a nice month off of bookstagram. It was nice to just be able to relax and read after work without having to worry about posting and interacting. Not to say I didn’t miss it - if I didn’t, I wouldn’t be back. It’s just that I had to start going into the office more often in March and honestly, three months later, I’m still adjusting to that new schedule. 😅 How was your month? . . . #AllTheBooksMay22 #TheseViolentDelights #bookstagram #YAReads https://instagr.am/p/CeOpUeuqpQ2/

QTOD: What’s on your TBR for this month? I’m hoping to get to #TheLiarsCrown by #AbigailOwen. It was actually on my TBR for last month since I was fortunate enough to receive a copy from @entangledteen. That (obviously) didn’t work out, partly because I ended up in this weird reading slump and had a craving for a reread. That phase has thankfully passed. (I hope?) To be honest, part of me does want to procrastinate even more on reading this since the sequel comes out next Spring. But the cover is just too dang pretty to ignore. It has to be one of my favorite covers of the year! 😍 What are some of your favorites covers from this year so far? — . . . ⚔ challenges #MyFictionalMusings [black cover] . #bookclub #readinggoals #lovereading #loveofreading #EntangledTeen #EntangledPublishing https://instagr.am/p/CiJU9U_LLt-/

🎶 Who is that girl I see?…🎶 QTOD: Do you enjoy retellings? I do! But admittedly, I learned that I have to be a bit careful about which ones I read close together. I’m sorry, but there are only so many Beauty & the Beast retellings I can read back to back before they all start to blur together. Anyways, I can’t wait to read this retelling of Mulan. It’s been on my shelves for YEARS now but I feel like it’s been staring at me, begging me to read it soon. Do you ever get that feeling? Like some books on your shelves are calling to you, waiting and wanting to be read? Could be just me and whatever my 2AM brain is coming up with. 😅 — . . . ⚔ challenges #BookReadHappyHour [#PutABladeOnIt] . #ElizabethLim #bookblog #bookhoarder #bookgirl #yafiction #bookwormsunite #yaauthors https://instagr.am/p/Chp9ZanohiA/

QTOD: What’s the weather like where you are? It’s so gloomy here. It rained this morning and then started to snow. The snow didn’t last long so now everything is just wet and cold. 🥶 The only bright side is the cold weather makes me want to reread #Graceling, one of my old favorites. For some reason, I always think of reading it whenever we get some snow. Do certain types of weather remind you of certain books? — Don’t worry, no books were harmed in the making of this photo. I used an old, already water-damaged book, and protected Graceling’s dust jacket with its own little plastic raincoat (like the ones most library hardcovers get). . QTOD: What’s a book you want to read this year? #TheInheritanceGames has been on my tbr since the moment it was announced since I really enjoyed reading all of Jennifer Lynn Barnes’ other thriller / mystery books. In fact, her Naturals series is one of my absolute favorites - I reread it almost every year (it’s like Criminal Minds but with teenagers). And I’ve seen so many people rave about The Inheritance Games so naturally, I’m extra excited to read it. I just want to wait until the last book is published first. I hate waiting for sequels. My favorite part of heading into the office is being able to grab some coffee and squeeze in some time to read as I wait for the train. But these days, commuting on public transportation can be kind of scary. #AD That is why when it was my turn, I made the decision to get fully vaccinated, AND get my booster! Boosters are a normal practice for vaccines and raise our protection. A recent study by the CDC even found that your booster shot helps reduce the likelihood of hospitalization by 82% during the Omicron wave. So now, I feel more at ease when I have to take the train to work. I am working with @NJHositals to remind you all to get your covid vaccine booster. So we can continue to live our lives and to protect our elderly, friends, and family who are at risk, and so we can have fun safely! There are over 1,000 locations across NJ for you to get your booster, including many local pharmacies. So go #GetNJBoosted everyone! For more information regarding the vaccine and boosters, you can also visit https://ift.tt/0zH3MwZ #ImaBigShot https://instagr.am/p/CaqIVnNLfXL/

QTOD: What’s the last series you finished? I binge-read The Harbinger series last month and I really enjoyed it. It’s a solid four-star series for me, but I still like The Dark Elements (the series The Harbinger is spun off of) more. It was really fun to revisit a world I love and watch how everything, especially the worldbuilding and character arcs across both series, tie together at the end. And now I’m a third of the way through one of my 2022 reading goals - to finish reading at least 3 series this year. 😊 Are you making progress on any of your goals? — [Image description Slide One: A flatlay of Grace & Glory by Jennifer L. QTOD: How do you feel about spoilers? For someone who will occasionally read the ending of a book first, I REALLY hate spoilers. Especially big, meaningful ones. They just ruin EVERYTHING. 😡 Okay, maybe I don't really mind minor spoilers (and sometimes even need them, tbh), but I cannot stand people giving out major spoilers. Like, how can I get emotionally invested in a character knowing what's going to happen to them in the future? It's the biggest reason why I haven't finished reading the Divergent trilogy even though it's been nearly 10 years since I've read the first book. How do you handle someone spoiling a book for you? — [Image description: A photo of the book, Allegiant, the third book in the Divergent series by Veronica Roth.] . . . ⚔️ challenges #BookWitchOct21 [page 2 screen] . #Divergent #VeronicaRoth #EpicReads #booklife https://instagr.am/p/CUvhmqsrs9Z/

QTOD: What's your favorite book-length? I love the typical mid-size book. Maybe 300-400 pages? (I'm not sure, I don't usually pay attention to page count). But anything smaller than that seems a little short and anything over that scares me. Not going to lie, I'm seriously intimidated by big books. I like them, don't get me wrong. But I'm so afraid of them. Especially the books that are already taller than others, like The Last Magician, for example. Couple that with a high page count and you can bet I'll procrastinate with reading it. QTOD: What's an author you want to read more from? I'd love to read more books from #JenniferLynnBarnes. I loved her The Naturals series and also enjoyed The Fixer duology. I still have to read The Inheritance Games, though. I feel like since I'm already behind (the second book came out today), I might as well wait for the series to be completed before starting it. QTOD: What's your favorite summer activity? I used to love visiting the pool or beach during the summer. Or honestly, any vacation away from home. But these days I'm more of a homebody. — Welcome to another edition of "I forgot this edit existed". 😅 This edit is more than 3 years old at this point so I don't really remember where the idea for it came from but here it is... finally. On a side note: something about the colors of this edit kind of bother me. No matter what I try they never look quite right. QTOD: Do you collect multiple editions of the same book? I try not to. For starters, my wallet gets very upset with me when I decide to buy another edition of a book I already own. And on top of that, I'm out of shelf space so I really don't have room for multiple copies (right now). And yet, I somehow ended up with three copies of #VampireAcademy by #RichelleMead. 🤦🏻♀️ It all started because I decided it was more budget-friendly to buy a box set of the series. That box set happened to include the movie edition of the first book. I'm not (usually) a fan of movie adaption covers so I decided to buy a used copy of VA to match the rest of the series. Unfortunately for me, the book I ended up getting was the first edition paperback (I think?) and not the updated cover that was advertised (this is what happens when you buy books used and the publisher uses the same ISBN for both the old and new editions). I gave up and decided to just settle for the mismatching editions I was stuck with. Then, one day I found the 10th-anniversary edition on sale for a really good price so I had to snap it up. It was something like $3 and about a third of it is new content so it was worth it. And that's the story of how I ended up with three editions of Vampire Academy. All because of my need for matching series. Do you need your series to match or are you okay with mismatching series? — [Image description: flatlay featuring three different editions of Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead.
