Can I just say WOW! Valor is blossoming into the gorgeous gal God meant for her to be and I am so blessed to be a part of her transformation. Not only is she healthier in all aspects, but her personality is beginning to peak through. She is shy and timid initially ... but oh so sweet and gentle. Oooh I think Waldo needs to be made into a children's book character 😆 "If you Open a Door for a Donkey". If you open a door for a donkey, chances are he's going to want to peak inside. When he peaks inside, he'll want to sniff the rabbit. While sniffing the rabbit he'll notice a girl sitting on the floor. Once he notices the girl on the floor, he'll HAVE to say hi. When he says hi, the donkey will get pet. Once the donkey gets pets, he'll realize he LOVES the little girl. The newest rescues: The back story. We were contacted by a loving couple in need of help. The husband had been battling stage 4 cancer and was in and out of hospitals for lengths of up to four months at a time. The wife felt absolutely awful for neglecting their sweet horses and donkey while she remained by her husband's side in the hospital. The trio had been living in a pasture, essentially untouched, for a year or so. Life throws everyone curveballs at times, which can be especially hard on horse owners. With it being just the husband and wife, the wife was faced with the reality of knowing everyone needed her; her beloved husband as well as their trio of equines. I can't imagine how hard it was for her to knowingly have to sacrifice time with their horses in order to be by her husband's side. With a heavy heart, the wife knew the equines needed and deserved more, and reached out for assistance. We gladly offered our help and services. Tears were shed and comforting hugs given as we loaded the three new lovebugs into our trailer. There was only one injury ... one of the newly donated trailer ties was ripped in half by Ladybug 😆🤦🏻‍♀️ She's strong! I always tell people who are surrendering their animals that there will be no judgements on our part. Life happens, that's just the way it is. It is not my place to judge. It takes immense courage and bravery to admit shortcomings and ask for assistance. I would rather that than a prideful owner, too ashamed to ask for help, watch their beloved equine continually decline. Apologies for the lack of posts. Between chasing a runaway donkey, training, building more stuff, and feeding, I've been just a smidgen busy. I thought I would give you a glimpse into feeding time! After an "eat till your belly busts" alfalfa buffet, all the Lovebugs get their special feed. 23lbs of feed, 9 buckets, 5 supplements, 2 medications, and some rice bran oil to top it all off! (Excuse the mess, I'm sure I'll find the time soon to tidy up 😂). All 9 Lovebugs are eating happily and one even received a special dessert. I purchased apple flavored boredom busting balls for Sarge's enjoyment ... Thank you so much for the donated halters Gayle! They were a life saver yesterday ❤🥰❤. We all made it home safely, thank you all for the well wishes. I will introduce our newest lovebugs soon. Seashell - Sweet little Seashell. It was a happy accident she was the last, and smallest horse on our list. Seashell's loving and welcoming nature confirms she is a Libra. The tiniest welcoming committee around. Seashell happily welcomes all the new rescues and shows them the ropes. Sarge has yet to be receptive to Seashell's welcoming ways and I believe she shat while watching Sarge jump and kick in the round pen the day he arrived. I honestly do not think she has gone within 20 feet of him since. Seashell has such a huge heart packed into one very tiny package. Seashell likes almost everything. She loves being brushed and sliced apples. Seashell is a social butterfly who is more than happy to welcome new rescues. The only thing I can think of that Seashell dislikes is the imminent death she fears when watching Sarge. Sarge - Ah, our newest boy ... our Scorpio. Oh yes, just as the sign suggests, Sarge is a fierce scorpion, lying in wait, striking at victims unexpectedly. They say Scorpio is governed by Pluto, causing both destruction and transformation. I can vouch for the validity of that statement. I have seen Sarge destroy and transform anything he deems worthy of destroying; everything. I have yet to see the empathetic and depth Scorpios supposedly possess ... but I have seen the depth of Sarge's mouth 😬. Sarge likes being in control, acting sweet to lure in victims to nip at, and getting wild in the round pen. Sarge detests training. He has no time for that nonsense. The mares prancing around him in an attempt to get a reaction does indeed get a reaction ... just not the one they were hoping for.
