Finally had a chance to pick a few images from the @panniercc Solstice Social. . A route which showcased some of The Peak District's finest mixed terrain, a beautiful camp location, incredibly tasty rider-made-pizza, an almost over-stocked-bar and a posse of the finest travelling cyclists came together to generate one of the best times I've enjoyed on a bicycle. . I rode a bicycle. I rode it up the Mayfield Valley-Houndkirk-Burbage-Stanage-Long Causeway-Redmires-Porter Clough. // Lambs and llamas in the Mayfield Valley. Houndkirk bone dry. A cacophony of nature all the way up Burbage. Many Ouzels in Burbage (pic 2). One self belayer. Three folks on weed and Strongbow. North Lees literally aloud with birds. Buzzard, Skylark, Curlew. Birdsong so constant as if it was coming through headphones. Wave to the cave (Pic 4). A few campervans. The Long Causeway seated. Stanedge Pole. Sunset over Win Hill. The temperature drops. Boneshaker to Redmires. Men in cars discussing cars. Vape. Somebody has pizza. All was well. Roper bloody Hill. Stef from @panniercc zooms past me ‘chasing a record’ ? Past Benrevic Kennels where Isla was bred. The Upper Mayfield beautiful and green. A Curlew. Turn in to the gravel descent of the Porter Valley. Quick chat to Andy Jones photographing hares. Gravel madness. Fulwood. People. Cars. Odd. Back lanes. Big houses. Bigger houses. Last little up, then down. Stop. Eat the other half of the banana. Wash Geraldine. Dusty. Sunburnt. The End.

No bikes in the last post, readjusting the balance... . I’m pretty sure my first memory of taking photos was on a disposable camera... . That low risk, low cost pacifier on a family trip somewhere deemed interesting by my parents. . Twenty five years on (probably more like 30 🤫) an Instagram post prompted me to start lugging one on trips, the perfect bikepacking camera, lightweight, tough, small, easy to use! . Never disappointed, even through finger-lens-user-error, (adds authenticity right?)... . A review of a bag. / The beginning. ... The Egress Pocket by @revelatedesigns . It’s an RF welded, roll top closure, bar bag. It’s waterproof. It takes about 25 seconds to fit and about 10 to remove. Detached it can be carried by hand, over the shoulder (strap inc), or threaded on to a belt to make a bum bag. Inside it there is a padded tech protector sleeve which also has a zipped pocket. The closure hook is excellent and cinches the whole thing up to minimise wobble. It fits on the front of the Sweetroll handlebar bag for overnighters and long journeys or, on its own fitted to your bars, it will hold phone + gloves + beer tokens + windshirt + camera + Frogskins + a little bottle of Old Spice for Men. I ordered mine from @keep_pedalling ,you can also order from @panniercc (the bag that is, not the Old Spice). // The End.
