Ok so, before the indigo disk released I heard there was going to be people with competitive movesets, so before it released I literally made myself an entire competitive team. IM A CASUAL PLAYER 😭😭 and I just think it’d be really funny that carmine and kieran would probably think i’m just gonna stroll up with my usual team but nope swords dance + scale shot 💃 if you could write their reactions to the new squad I just think it’d be funny lmao
(If you want the team I made for reference, it was koraidon, ogerpon, chien-pao, blood moon ursaluna, armarouge, and a shiny slither wing because I felt like having a shiny so I hunted one lol)
- 🪑🥚
Bro I went into the Indigo Disk 100% blind so you can imagine my shock when I realized double battles were gonna be everywhere </3
I mostly had a "fuck it we ball" mentality going through it (which made some battles go on for WAY too long), but later I taught my Ceruledge Poltergeist when I realized almost every NPC in the dlc uses held items.
Funny enough Ogerpon (with Spiky Shield) and BM Ursaluna were on my team. He was an absolute TANK with the assault vest and he knocked out Hydrapple with a Moonblast
Anyways enough rambling and onto the request!
......
Kieran
He was expecting your usual team when you started challenging the BB Elite Four, rolling his eyes at the thought of you trying to use the same old tactics to defeat him.
But he's changed. He's gotten stronger and wanted you to be surprised by what he can do now.
Instead, though, when you arrive to the championship battle...not only did you bring out Ogerpon with her teal mask to (supposedly) insult him, but you also had Chien-Pao, which may spell trouble for his Dragonite.
He'll admit, you were clever to bring a Pokémon who could lower the defense of all the others and cut their HP in half with Ruination..but he doesn't give up yet.
Seeing a shiny that looked like a Volcarona but fluffier was certainly bewildering--as is the Bloodmoon Ursaluna you managed to tame back in Kitakami and the Armarouge who sets up a Psychic Terrain to boost its Expanding Force, allowing it to hit two of his Pokémon at once.
Oh, and apparently you have not one but TWO Koraidons, with the one you brought into battle being more brash and a fierce fighter in its Apex build.
You set that one up with a Swords Dance + Scale Shot combo that absolutely kicks ass, somehow striking your opponents 4-5 times whenever you command it.
Kieran's certainly gotten smarter about his team, but so have you, and he's livid about it.
It was like you enjoyed knocking him down over and over again...yet he can't hear the reluctance in your voice as you utter the final move that finishes off his Hydrapple.
You knew you had to win. He needed to be humbled.
But it didn't feel good at all as you watched him crumble and Drayton rub his loss in his face.
Carmine
When you battled her, she (like her brother) expected to see some familiar faces on your team.
Yet you surprised her (in a good way, very much unlike her brother) with Ogerpon, and she smiles and asks if she missed her, with the legendary responding with a small hop and a happy trill....
Followed by a devastating Ivy Cudgel that lands a critical hit on her Pokémon.
Yeah, she can definitely tell you've been training the Ogre a lot, but she's proud of how confident she's grown nevertheless.
Seeing you have both Chien-Pao and another Koraidon working in tandem is impressive, especially with that Ruination + Swords Dance + Scale Shot combo you pulled.
BM Ursaluna and Shiny Slither Wing are the only two that genuinely shock Carmine, as she's only seen one in myths and the other....she's never seen in her entire life.
But after the trip to Area Zero, she understands Slither Wings better (although she's amazed you managed to find a shiny down there).
Either way, those two are powerhouses.
She remembered you talking about a little lonely Charcadet you found during an outbreak, and to see it has grown up into a mighty Armarouge was such a sweet thing to see.
You clearly took the time to plan out your team before coming to the Blueberry Academy.
Carmine found your battle to be fun.
Although she can't exactly say Kieran will feel the same way..considering Ogerpon is with you and you have some new tricks up your sleeve.
But she figured he oughta find that out for himself.

Thinking about Ivan, Karina and Pao Lin and how they would be veterans by the time Kaede becomes a proper hero. I mean, Thomas, Subaru and Lara will be veterans too, but Ivan, Karina and Pao Lin were there for the whole Maverick fight.
I can't stop thinking about them being like big siblings for Kaede. Imagine if Kaede ever becomes Queen of Heroes please, they'd be so proud. They'd also look out for her so much.

Still posting (my best) screenshots!!!
(Spoilers included.)

Sandwiches that would make Kasuga proud, despite the messiness.
Tumblr media
Don't you give me that look, LARRY. You're the one who decided to come at me with flying-types. Of ALL Pokémon types.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And for pika's sake, Hassel. Get ahold of yourself!!
Tumblr media
Sometimes your trainer's face is frozen during sandwich eating. (Will attempt to upload video SOMEHOW later!)

Chien-Pao! Or long kitty, as my brother called him. (You may need a walkthrough to get him and the other three Pokémon of Ruin.)
Tumblr media
Funny glitch involving my friend getting stuck in a tree during a battle.

And finally, a parting side glare from Larry before I end this post. Still more to do after finishing the main story!

Pokemon Violet Thoughts
Pokemon Scarlet/Violet spoilers below!!
.
.
.
.
.
.
I did not expect to like this game as much as I did omg. I saw a lot of criticism, and while valid, the game is still very very very fun. (Tbf it'd be pretty hard to mess up a Pokemon game though!!)
Honestly, this might be one of my favorite storylines out of any Pokemon game? I've played through most of the Pokemon games (except Coliseum, Snap, Legends Arceus) + only got through half of SwSh and SuMo, but I know what happens in the Gen 7 and 8 storylines. BW/BW2's storyline was more consistent in terms of quality (SV has higher highs and lower lows imo), and Pokemon Mystery Dungeon is amazing too, but it follows predictable patterns and its main strength lies in its characterization rather than its actual plot. I haven't played Legends Arceus yet so that's still up in the air (though I hear it's good!)
I really enjoyed the reveal that the Professor Turo we knew was actually an AI, and exploring the Great Crater with our friends from school was so endearing and fun. The Great Crater itself looked incredible -- the design and the music really contributed to its otherworldly ambiance. Even reading the Violet Book made me really excited -- but then again, I've always been a sucker for stories of adventure. I would kill to have a Made in Abyss style anime of Heath's expedition into the Crater...
The characters in this game feel really alive, too -- Pokemon games have definitely stepped up their game in that regard. I liked Nemona the most (and how self-aware, yet incorrigible she is lol), and most of the teachers. ❤️
Miriam is such a sweetheart, and Hassel's sobbing whenever he was proud of us was so cute haha. Salvatore didn't speak to me as much, but I enjoyed his mini-storyline of befriending a Pokemon that didn't really speak, and him being completely understanding (as a languages teacher) that sometimes you don't need to speak the same language, or even a language to communicate with others around you. His entire character is such a vibe, too?? He's so happy and upbeat, and his advice about trying to learn the languages of places you go to and complimenting other people (especially their culture, food, etc.) is so real. Miriam being motivated by our dedication in the Treasure Hunt to pursue her own certification was sweet, I've definitely felt that way before as well (being motivated by the efforts of others, that is. ;o;)
Raifort I didn't connect to as much, but I appreciate her zealousness towards history. Her overall personality was pretty fun. xD I really really did enjoy the story about the ruinous treasure Pokemon, though -- one of my favorite (if not favorite) legendary Pokemon stories now. I've always loved fairytale-esque stories, and the designs of these Pokemon (especially Chien Pao and Chi Yu) are amazing. Their battle music is one of the best things I've ever listened to, so there's that too. xD
NPC designs have also stepped up (Grusha and Rika are so hot LOL), but player customization has taken a step back which was very disappointing to find out. And much as I loved Pokemon ScarVio overall, I do understand where a lot of the grievances people had came from.
I don't consider myself a genwunner (far from it lol) but many of the new Pokemon designs just felt... lacking? Like beta designs. Flamigo, Tandemaus, Palafin, Pawmot. Some of these are probably just personal preference so I won't harp on this too much, but eh.
Arven's storyline also didn't speak to me as much but that also just kind comes down to personal preference.
Something I also didn't like as much was the Team Star storyline -- it felt kind of contrived, and like it was really trying to make us feel bad for the area leaders. I also didn't care for Penny that much, although her interactions in the Great Crater area made up for it.
I would've rather we had a proper villainous team this generation instead of getting Team Star, but I guess then it would've been weird if the school let us run around the country lol.
Because run around the country we did... from top to bottom, for those f**king ominous stakes. They couldn't have made them show up on the map either (unless there's a function I missed. Which if that is the case let me live in ignorance aaaaaaaah I'll legit start foaming at the mouth if it turns out I just needed to turn something on). The idea of the stakes sealing these ruinous Pokemon's powers is alright, it's just annoying to have to scramble down cliffs and valleys to find 32 of these things.
As much as I do like the Great Crater part of the storyline, I wish it was more ingrained with everything else. The gym challenges, Team Star, the herba mystica... I mean, it was technically ingrained in the sense that you need to help your rivals out with their issues so they can accompany you into the crater, but there should've been more story significance tying everything together.
I also would've appreciated some sidequests in the Pokemon world. Coming from Genshin, I'm kind of spoiled in that regard (the world is soooo chock-full of events and quests and areas to explore). While Paldea doesn't really need that many quests and hidden areas (it's gotten to the point where exploration is kind of exhausting in Genshin lol), more would've been nice.
Environmental storytelling almost always hits, and it could've been a nice way to talk about the issues invasive species pose (basically our reason for shutting down the time machine) and in turn, connect things to the main storyline as well. For example, Barraskewda's Violet Pokedex entry mentions that it completes with Palafin for food -- what if Barraskewda wasn't native to Paldea, and just hitched a ride from Galar? We could have had a sidequest to curb the Barraskewda population to help the native Palafin population recover. That's just one example, too. What about the giant Iron Treads in the desert, or the rolling boulders dropped by Bombirdier? That things had to have caused some collateral damage, and it would have been cool to get quests to help the Pokemon or people in the area recover.
Paldea's open world was very beautiful and fun to explore, but it was also really... empty. I hope that in a future iteration of games, these kinds of sidequests can be added. The addition of them would really help make the world feel more alive.
And while I do really like ScarVio's story, its execution could have been a lot better than it was. But despite all the game's flaws, it was still incredibly fun ,and surprisingly touching. :') I am very extremely excited for the eventual DLC that will hopefully give us a glimpse of that hexagonal Pokemon, and more story content of the main four. 🥺🥺🥺

I would be delighted if you wanted to show off your pokemon scarlet team
Sure! Here are my lil'buds :
Tumblr media
Group photo! (Not all are shown here because I consider my full team to be larger than seven, since I can just rotate them around whenever I want.)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This is Fern, my starter! I didn't actually know what she'd look like when she evolved, since I tried to avoid any spoilers for new Pokémon in the game, so I was a little nervous at first with how she would look and what type she would become, but my fears were unfounded in the end. I just love my magician cat.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Skully the Clodsire, and Mariza the Finizen
These are the cute little guys and I absolutely 100% needed to have on my team as soon as I saw them. Scully is named that because of those little crossbones he had as a Wooper (By chance, he is the only male Pokémon on my team). Mariza is all I've ever wanted in a Pokémon ever since I was 8, she is adorable and sometimes she glitches on buildings and starts to fly into space ("So long, and thanks for all the fish").
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Trenza the Dachsbun, and Imentet the Espathra
Trenza carried my team with a lot of type coverage and also carried it by being a very good girl, good dog, good bunbun. Imentet is here to fight enemies with the power of the setting sun (and a psychic laser she shoots from her mouth).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Anguila the Wugtrio, and Hawlucha (the currently unnamed)
I love garden eels so much I needed the garden eel Pokémon so much. Hawlucha is the newest member of my team, she helps me beat normal types into the dirt. (I'm looking for name suggestions for her so feel free to suggest any).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Chien-Pao (exuberant ferret) and Chi-Yu (the sensible one)
I don't normally nickname my legendaries, so these two just have their regular names. Chien-Pao is the only member of my team fast enough to keep up with me while I'm riding Koraidon, so they follow me around the most. They will sporadically stab things then fall asleep at my feet. Chi-Yu is very pretty and melts things with fire.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Muffin the Naclstack, and my noble (and very goofy) Koraidon
Muffin is probably the strongest member of my team, she's got me through some tough fights with her salt powers and is so powerful that my files of direct pictures of her kept on going corrupt and refused to be transferred to the computer, so here’s a glitched overlaid picture of her instead. And finally, my very, very eccentric motorcycle dragon and my favourite box art legendary, (I'm so proud of them).

Do you still talk to Pao
We talk occasionally. Last time we spoke she was just about to turn in her final draft for her novel. Like a real ass fucking book. 🥹 I’m very proud of everything she’s been able to accomplish.
She’s doing really well in life if you were curious

What kind of food is your MC's favorite? Favorite dish? Can they make it themselves?
Thank you so much for thinking of me Anon!
I'll answer for all of my MCs if that's all right!
>> JANE
Jane absolutely loves anything that has to do with sweets. Stroopwafels? Heck yeah. Croissants? Sure, go right ahead. Fudge? Sweet Jesus, Mary and Joseph, she's gonna eat it all. She also enjoys a good vegetarian pasta from time to time.
Jane is a good cook, if not a great one. She's been sustaining on her cooking skills ever since she stepped into university and med school. She's gotten better at it through the years, adapting the cuisine around her to fit her dietary needs. Lately, she's been obsessed with cottage cheese pizzas and poached eggs.
Of course, living with the great Ethan Ramsey has its perks, especially with food. Sometimes Jane wouldn't have to cook much, considering Ethan is a way better breakfast-chef than she is. Most of the days, she cooks lunch and dinner because it doesn't work with Jane and Ethan to find a common ground on most days. Ethan is so used to incorporating chicken, beef and fish in his diet and the last thing she'd want for him is to change his entire diet considering their living accomodations.
So they make a deal. Ethan gets to make breakfast. Jane takes care of the dinner; ensuring to make it as light and filling as possible and the two of them pool their ideas together for lunch. Since it is just the two of them, they don't have to think a lot.
>> NORA
Nora takes pride in her Chinese heritage. Her favourites are usually a box of egg fried rice or a nice bowl of ramen with baozi. Ever since she started living alone (as alone as living above her uncle's pub gets), she learned that the best way to move on from her parents' passing, to properly grieve them is to take care of herself. It is what they'd have wanted for her. Cooking slowly became one of her hobbies; a cathartic release after a long day of NYPD/PI work.
Enter Trystan a couple of years later. Trystan is an admirable cook. Though he does burn a couple of things and not really good with desserts or baking for that matter and should never be left next to fire or to his own devices, he's still very eager to learn. Cooking eventually becomes their little routine. Whenever Trystan stays over or if they ever don't feel like going out, they turn to making their own food.
Lately Nora has been into Pao Tsai or fermented vegetables. She's into preservation of a jar of cabbages and other vegetables in pickle brine. It was something her Dad did growing up and her Grandma had also done and it is only wise for her to continue to make it on her own. It's a little hard at first, with all the impulsive jar buying, all those precise measurements and reading up on some food chemistry and preservation rules, calling up Aunties from Hong Kong and making sure she isn't eating expired vegetables, but soon she gets the hang of it.
Right now, Nora's pickle brine jar is exactly three months and seven days old. She's very proud of her accomplishment and it tastes spectacularly well with a side of rice.
>> MAURA
Maura is in an apocalypse, so there aren't a lot of options for food. But thanks to tilling their lands and sowing their fields, Maura had overseen several successful agricultural projects at Camp Cypress. Most of the time, breakfast, lunch and dinner consist of game. Freshly hunted wild animals or bred chickens. It's accompanied by a thin soup, some bread if they were lucky enough and for dessert, a fruit of their choice.
Maura isn't too much into the meals in itself but she looks forward to what she can do with fruits. After they bred cows, Maura was able to get milk and churn it into thick cream, which tasted well when paired with apples and oranges. She's made fruit salads in the past, adding a combination of seeds and walnuts in the mix. Maura had also tried making "wine" by soaking a bunch of grapes in water, only to figure out that she'd colossally messed up and she was going to have to hunt down run-down bars and get what she required.
Out of her friends, Sledge is an excellent cook; mostly because she's really good at burning and crispening things. The two of them formulate recipes and meal plans based on the stock of food they have. If they're really lucky, they'd find several shelves of alcohol and stock it deep in their private reserves (sh, don't tell the others.)
___
Thank you so much for sending this ask, Anon!

Pelle [Centaur] Class: Knight -> Paladin
The mercenary knight who risks his life for justice!
*** A wandering mercenary knight. Not even he remembers well which country he was born in. He enrolled in the Runefaust army but, during the operation on the bridge, he was outraged by their vile tactics and defected. After that he joins the Shining Force. The long chin is his charm. ***
He's definitely dead... is what you think before he makes a miraculous comeback. His gallant figure and sense of justice shown in the moment he joins the force are hard to forget.
So, like the Shining Force, Runefaust's army also uses centaurs as their main military power, and thus have their own Order of Knights. When Emperor Ramladu decided to conquer the continent of Rune, he worked to upgrade his forces into a large scale army. He forced the enlistment of knights from smaller countries that were utterly destroyed, and then also contracted many mercenary knights wandering through the countries. Pelle was one of them.
______
Vankar [Centaur] Class: Knight -> Paladin
A man you can count on - Shining Force's bodyguard!
*** He used to be a knight from a great country, but then kicked the minister while drunk. He fled from the death sentence, and became a wanderer while working as bodyguard for small villages and such. Having taken a job opportunity at Pao, he comes to assist the Shining Force by Queen Koron's orders. ***
Vankar here is a character that gets missed more than others. Even though you can see him there easily if you walk around after the Pao Train leaves...
He's on his middle 40s, and is thus the oldest of the force's knights. Add his bold personality to that, and the result is that he acts foolish at times, and even tries to order the protagonist around. Of course, Mae, the proud daughter of the captain of the Guardiana knights, is not amused at all at these antics, and the two have a very bad relationship. Up to the end of this adventure, the two have dueled at least 39 times. Around 24 of these times Lowe ended up trampled by them. ______
Notes on Vankar:
Koron is referred to here as 族長, a word that apparently means "head of a family". Everywhere else including in game she's referred to as Queen (王) so I just went with that.
I'm not 100% sure of the grammar in the line where he's said to order Max around, but this is kinda shown in HQ when he's not in the active team:
Tumblr media
"(hic) Drinks, more drinks! Keep bringing on the drinks! Oh, if it ain't Max! Say, my glass' been empty for a while now, fill it up for me, won't ya?"
Of course, this and all mentions of alcohol were censored in the localizations of both the original game and the GBA remake. The difference is that the Mega Drive version just removed them while GBA tried to pretend very hard that he sips on some healthy milk.
Tumblr media
Just a man very worried with his calcium consumption. Nothing to see here.

“Hey — chien Pao? Did you see? We won again.”
Ah. They had come to it, instead. Chien-Pao had planned to come to them in order to congratulate them privately- it had not wanted to reveal it's presence to whatever other people Ree liked to hang out with more commonly.
Only Ree. They were safe, and they were... a friend.
Chien-Pao received the child as warmly as an ice type could. Especially one like it.
I did see that. I saw your celebration, but chose to wait to congratulate you.
It almost smiled, as much as it was able to, at least.
I'm you did great. I'm very proud of you.
The sword approached the human and softly nudged their cheek with it's cold nose, careful not to accidentily cut them with it's fangs. Not many people got to enjoy this level of warmth from it.
It didn't feel safe enough with anyone but Ree.
You didn't even break a sweat.

I put together a case of tea blends for my trip!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I'm pretty proud of this, actually. My mother and I bagged and sealed all the teas at home. Between the two of us, it took three hours. We made way more than this; these are just the ones we put in the travel case. I put the rest in a box to leave here so mom could have my tea blends while I'm away. Her favorite is the Meditation blend, which I would encourage you guys to try at home. (Use slightly more da hong pao than earl grey de la crème. Steep in not quite boiling water for 30 seconds to a minute.)
Yes I do sometimes name blends after fictional characters leave me alone
