We've all seen this, and variations of, this clip. Usually it's a 10, 20 second cut of this moment which of course, in itself, is very telling.

But the uncut version?

Only those who have been in a situation where you are having to be subtle about your interaction with someone will see the nuance in pretty much every frame.

A few observations; About a third of the way in, you can see Louis flash his eye sideways for a split second to check the camera and Harry's hand in his peripheral vision.

He then starts the 'organic' build up to him moving his arm to meet Harry's hand, flexing his fingers and coughing, with the aim to naturally get his arm in the right position.

Then (not so subtly lol) checks the camera and 'organically' moves his arm to harrys hand- smiling to himself when he's successful.

Finally, Harry gently brushes his upper arm, and softly smiles.

This moment was nearly 15 years ago, but still has me in a fucking chokehold lol.

this!!! people love to tell me i “get harry and louis wrong” in my fics, especially when it comes to their dynamic in the bedroom or their personalities. like…fanfic is literally fiction. it’s my story, my interpretation. let me write them how i want.

i tell people all the time — if you don’t like the way i’ve written something, you’re more than welcome to write your own story. but if you’re choosing to read mine, you need to respect the creative liberties i’ve taken. i didn’t spend hours writing and planning just to be told it’s a waste.

unless they specifically asked, you don’t get to tell a fanfic writer you think they mischaracterized the character by the way. because the second someone writes a fanfic about a character, that character becomes the writer’s own version of the character. canon is only a suggestion, but whether or not an author will follow it / how much of canon an author will take is entirely up to them. you don’t get to stick your nose in their world and tell them “hey this is not to my liking therefore I think you’re doing it wrong” when you can simply leave quietly and move on to something else you may enjoy

??? there’s no age limit when it comes to fandoms. i’ll probably still be creating one direction and larry content well into my 40s. fans are what keep fandoms alive — you can’t expect it to survive if you’re busy criticizing people for being “too old” or “too young” to enjoy it.

People 10 and 20 years older than me are writing your favorite fanfics, and drawing your favorite characters. You'd have no fandom without the people you think are 'too old' to have hobbies.
