The return of my Ink variant AKA Opal from Parallel Synthesis!

He got a bit of an outfit update since the last time I posted anything related to my AU, and honestly there's a lot of small adjustments and additions I wanna do. Here's hoping I can get to them!

for your parasynth au are you gonna. have synth in a baby sling with trollex? then after the (inevitable) reveil and synth gets turned back into a parsite trollex still uses the sling. i could see barb wanting one for branch too. obviously there's branch with barb and obviously, it's brynth. you are a sucker for both. ironic because branch and synth are bother literal suckers with teeth

Trollex would absolutely bring out the old baby sling so he could carry his son in his true form!

The problem with rewatching the city of monsters arc is that I inevitably spiral over liv amara every time

Liv and Di? :)

Ohhhh boy

First of all, Liv

1. She grew up as a lonely only raised by her grandma.

2. When her grandma died of old age/sickness, it was the inspiration for her parasynth project

3. She 100% was a bio-tech teen genius but didn’t attend SFIT, she was an exchange student for a period of time though

4. Post-COM she’s running Sycorax to make reparations' to the city after what Di did to it

5. She changed also changed her wardrobe and ties her hair into a bun to make herself look different than the “Liv” that the city thought they knew

And next,,, Di,,, uch Di,,,

1. Diane wasn’t her first name, I think she had another name before changing it to Di

2. We don’t know how old she is or how long Liv was in a coma so I’d say she’s 11-12 months old 

3. I think she used to have a moral compass but since she also knows how to control the brain she yeeted said moral compass bc she didn’t care what it took to save Liv, and then the monsters happened...

4. After getting arrested she has a burning hatred of Liv for being “ungrateful” and Hiro for “ruining everything” so if she ever got out they’d be her first targets...

5. I don’t think she knows a lot of memes, if someone went “YEET!” in front of her she’d go “???” (that’s ironic considering I yeeted the word for #3)

Karmi: Well, the human body produces 25 million new cells every second.

Hiro: Okay. That was interesting. Now tell me something useful.

Karmi: Oh, well, you didn't say that.

City of Monsters Part II REVIEW

Liv's arc has come to an end. We get the answers we've been theorizing on and her actions led to a painful departure.

Liv has Hiro right where she wants him. All she needs is for him to cooperate and she reveals herself as well as the real Liv's background. One of the theories was correct; the Liv we've known this whole time is a clone! The real Liv created the parasynths, believing they could increase life expectancy. She tested them on herself since no one believed in her work, but they mutated. With weeks to live and no one able to cure her, Liv decided that the only option left was to clone herself and have her find the cure. Her clone goes by Diane (or Di).

With all the tools they need, Hiro and Baymax use his nanobot technology along with Karmi's solution and virtual reality to destroy the parasynths in Liv's bloodstream. The cure is highly effective and they're able to destroy most of them with ease! One extremely large parasite puts up a good fight, but with some quick thinking, Hiro and Baymax manage to get the parasynth to digest it. They successfully cure the real Liv! Of course, even though Di gets what she wants, she considers herself a monster artist and since Hiro and Baymax know her secret, she's prepared to give him an upgrade too.

Between these intense scenes, we get a lot of good stuff with the nerd gang. Chris has released all our monster villains in different parts of the city to keep them distracted. Fred and Mini-Max deal with Knox and the Bessie bear. Wasabi has High Voltage. Gogo deals with Mr. Sparkles and the mayoi. And Honey Lemon handles Momakase. They all have to come up with an idea and struggle before deciding to lead everyone to the same place. Fred in particular has the hardest time, but he manages to come up with a great idea. He sends Mini-Max off to get more help and Ned Ludd shows up to retrieve Bessie. Ned doesn't think any less of  her being part bear. The others try to retrieve her, but Bessie sends a fire blast their way, deactivating their chips and turning them all back to normal.

In order to keep Di from controlling Karmi any further, Hiro kicked her phone out of her hand. Between a mutated Karmi and Chris, who can apparently become super buff, is part human, part canine, part gorilla and part foodie individual which makes for an interesting fight. Chris manages to crush Baymax and give Di her phone back which leaves Karmi chasing after Hiro. She grasped onto him, but Hiro is able to get through to her. He tells her that she's the smartest person he knows and that she's his friend and he cares about her. It works and Di has no control over her, so she sends Chris in to finish the job, but Karmi fights him. She gets pinned down and Hiro tries to help, but Chris throws him towards Di who attempts to mutate him too. She manages to get a transdermal patch on his neck, but her phone has been taken...by the real Liv! But Liv is ashamed. This isn't how she wanted to be saved. She changes Chris back to his regular size as well as changes Karmi back.

Di and Chris are rightfully arrested and Hiro remarks how appreciative he has to have such good friends in his life. He decides he wants to go check on Karmi, but he's greeted to Karmi's now empty lab. Granville tells him her parents took her home, feeling as though the city was too dangerous. Hiro didn't get a chance to say goodbye, but Karmi is revealed to be okay and still continues to write her Big Hero 6 fanfiction that Hiro now happily reads.

Things I Liked:

The “previously on” sequence

When the nerd gang was coming up with a plan outside of Sycorax and Chris somehow joined the circle.

Someone please give that poor waiter a raise.

The clone theory was right!

It was cool to know that Liv herself was the one to create the parasynths that caused her disorder.

I like that part of curing Liv was using virtual reality. It was a really cool way to do it!

Nanobot Hiro and Baymax are so cute!

Things I Disliked:

I’m really not sure what I expected as far as how the villains would turn back to normal, but I didn’t expect it to be the Bessie bear monster doing so with fire blasts. It happened so fast I needed to watch how it happened again to figure out what caused it.

Karmi’s departure. I respect it. It’s great to know she has parents who care about her. It’s beyond reasonable that they felt that the city wasn’t a safe environment for their daughter. Not to mention it would probably be painful for her to be in San Fransokyo. But her and Hiro didn’t get the chance to say goodbye?! They just became friends and they didn’t even get that after all this?! I relieved to know she’s okay and Hiro is reading her stories, but still! I hope they text and video chat and stuff.

On a scale of 1 to 10...I’d rate City of Monsters Part II an 8.4

Its been a while since ive posted anything Parasynth, so I thought id make these polaroid-inspired drawings to make up for it!

As an added bonus-- I have nicknames for the guys! I actually made these a while back, but I figured id post them here for organization purposes, and so its easier to differentiate when talking about Parasynth.

The nicknames + my reasons behind choosing them listed below the cut!

Blue "Polaris" - Also known as the "north star", polaris is the only stationary star in the night sky, commonly used as a compass for navigation. A star that symbolizes stability when you've lost your way.

Dream "Apollo/Pol" - Named after the Greek god of the sun, music, medicine, and archery, twin brother to Artemis. Went with this because of the twin thing and sun symbolism, plus the healer and archery association.

Ink "Opal" - Opal is a gemstone that shines with rainbow colors. A true opal gem also has a base color of white, which fits with Ink's whole thing. Ink also calls others "pal" so I thought the name would be a nice reference to that.

Axe "Condor/Kon" - A large scavenger bird, related to the vulture. One species of it is the largest flying bird in the world. A condor's head also has no feathers, which kinda reminds me of Axe's skull.

Nightmare "Artemis/Arte" - Named after the Greek goddess of the moon and the hunt, twin sister to Apollo. Chosen for the same reasoning as Dream's nickname. Artemis is also the goddess of wilderness and wild animals, which fits with the gang (in a "they're a group and they are dangerous" way).

Killer "Shrike" - A cute little passerine bird that is known to impale its prey on sharp things, usually thorns. Shrikes are also known as "butcher birds". I think it fits with his vibe, plus shrikes have these black markings over their eyes that remind me of Killer's eyes.

Dust "Owl" - A nocturnal bird that has eerily silent flight and large eyes that reflect light in the dark so it looks like its glowing. I was in between this one and "Kestrel", but I feel like Owl fits Dust's general vibe better.

Cross "Cypress/Cy" - A tree that symbolizes longevity and endurance, but also mourning. It's also associated with protection and strength. I was looking for stuff that was associated with the goddess Artemis and the cypress tree was one (also the gang as birds and Cross as the tree they rest on).

Error "Oregano" - An herb that has a very strong bitter/peppery taste and smell. It's known to have antiviral properties and other benefits, but it is best used in small amounts. I also chose this name to parallel Opal (rock VS plant).

Parasynth on Holiday [1/?] - Ink and Pyrite

Alright, introducing one of the reasons why I haven't been making much Parallel Synthesis art lately-- at least, of the already established characters...

Everyone, meet Pyrite!

Pyrite is an original character I made as a fankid for Parasynth Ink/Opal! I'll talk more in detail about their lore later on, but TLDR; they were an alternate reflection of Frisk that got scrapped. Since the universe didn't want them around, they got thrown into a kind of garbage dump of code.

They took a bit of inspiration design-wise from the unused kid sprite in Undertale, so their 9 year old design is heavily based off that.

Opal eventually finds them in the code dump and decided to take care of them!

They're a sassy child who is incredibly blunt and may come off as a bit of a brat, but gets attached to people really easily and is kind to those who've earned their trust.

Next up we have Cross, who went to visit XChara in the Omega timeline! They then went out to watch a fireworks show currently happening in the plaza.

I was looking at the designs for your parrallel synthesis AU,and I noticed Cross has a star pin too?(I made a thing to show what I am talking about but got a biiit carried away)

Is he neutral? or is he has it for beccause uh,uh,uhm,idk

uh,just asking out of curiousity, and I couldn't really find the answer you mightve already said something about this. Sorry if you've already mentioned this ;///;

I've seen a couple of people ask about this, so I thought I'd clear some things up! (not me forgetting I haven't posted most of this info yet--)

So! The star pins were made by Ink and were originally given to the other two Stars sometime during their early team days, as a symbol of their friendship. It later on became a symbol of the Stars themselves.

The bone brooches, on the other hand, were given by Nightmare to his gang as a symbol of loyalty; their loyalty to him and in turn, himself to them. Each of them got it at different times-- when they were officially recognized as part of Nightmare's gang.

At some point post-truce, Cross starts actively helping the Stars out on missions from time to time because of how busy they get. He is eventually named an 'honorary Star' and is given the star pin.

So yeah! Cross is still a part of and lives with the gang, but he helps out the Stars from time to time and that's why he has the pin.

(There's three other characters that also have both a pin and brooch-- Pyrite, Error, and another character I haven't introduced yet. Error technically doesn't own the pin and brooch themselves, but I'll talk more about him in his own post.)
