Best Sambalpuri Saree
Sambalpuri saree is a traditional handwoven saree originating from the Sambalpur district in the Indian state of Odisha. These sarees are known for their rich colors, intricate patterns, and the use of traditional weaving techniques. They are an integral part of Odia culture and are often worn by women during special occasions and festivals.
Here are some key features and aspects of Sambalpuri sarees:
Weaving Technique: Sambalpuri sarees are typically woven using the ikat or tie-dye technique. This involves resist-dyeing the yarns before weaving to create intricate patterns and designs on the fabric. The resist-dyeing process requires great skill and precision.
Color Palette: These sarees are known for their vibrant and bold color combinations. Traditional Sambalpuri sarees often feature deep reds, maroons, black, and white as dominant colors. However, modern variations may incorporate a wider range of colors to cater to changing tastes.
Patterns and Motifs: Sambalpuri sarees are known for their traditional motifs and designs, such as flowers, animals, and geometrical shapes. The patterns are often inspired by nature and the local culture of Odisha.
Fabric: These sarees are primarily made from cotton or silk, with silk Sambalpuri sarees being particularly prized for their elegance and sheen.
Border and Pallu: The borders of Sambalpuri sarees are usually heavily adorned with intricate designs, and the pallu (the loose end of the saree) is often the most decorated part, showcasing the weaver's skill and creativity.
Variations: There are several types of Sambalpuri sarees, including Sambalpuri Bomkai, Pasapalli, and Sonepuri. Each variation has its unique patterns and characteristics.
Cultural Significance: Sambalpuri sarees are an integral part of Odia culture and are often worn during weddings, festivals, and other special occasions. They are also considered a symbol of cultural identity and pride.
Geographical Indication (GI) Tag: Sambalpuri sarees have received the Geographical Indication (GI) tag, which recognizes their unique origin and traditional craftsmanship.
These sarees are not only cherished for their beauty but also for the skill and artistry of the weavers who create them. They are highly sought after by women in India and are also popular among those who appreciate traditional handwoven textiles worldwide.

How to Style a Handloom Saree
For every Indian woman, a Saree is an outfit that can make her perfectly ready for all occasions. She can choose to flaunt it at a wedding or party as well as on a date. Handloom sarees such as Tussar, Kanchipuram, Ikkat, Patola, South Indian silks are the crown jewel of Indian ethnic wear. They are often related to the family heritage and both a heavy financial and emotional connection. However, there are certain types of handloom saree that you can wear to almost all occasions. Nowadays celebrities are seen wearing handloom sarees to events like the Cannes film festival. You too can flaunt such an unparalleled style by an innovative draping method. But, wearing a saree is a bit complicated. So, you just need to know the correct saree wearing method to perfectly show off your charm in front of a crowd.
Importance of Handloom Sarees
Handwoven sarees are quite durable and easy to maintain. They are also made with natural fibers like cotton, silk which makes the fabric airy and suitable for Indian weather conditions. Handwoven sarees are also important in contributing to the Handloom sector of India, which is the country’s largest Industrial sector. Also, the beauty of the intricate motifs made using the traditional weaving methods can never be replaced by the power looms. Handwoven sarees are the first choice for women for all important occasions like festivals, weddings etc., for their superior quality and exquisiteness.
Ethnic wear looks incomplete without the touch of jewelry. Try tribal jewelry to make a statement or German silver jewelry for a muted look. You can wear heavy statement neck-pieces with your handloom saree, keeping your ears minimal. You can even wear a heavy oxidized ring on your finger to make a bolder statement. Wear your handloom saree with a high neck collared blouse and accessorize with long chandelier earrings or pretty jhumkas. Elegant bangles and bracelets also contemporize the whole look.
Feature of Handloom Sarees
Here are the top reasons why Handloom sarees are preferred by most women:
Handwoven sarees involve labor intensive procedure, which makes them one of the finest pieces that money can buy. As they are made using pure fibers, the sarees get a smooth feel with a natural shine. They are extremely comfortable and skin-friendly, unlike the artificial machine-made ones. Handwoven sarees are known for using pure golden and silver zari, which makes them last for many generations. The sarees usually come in bright colors to suit the grandeur of Indian occasions. Here are some options to style your handloom sarees and channel the desi vibe inside you.
Drape it well
While draping your handloom saree the conventional way can seem pretty monotonous, you can try draping it in different styles to create new looks. Wearing your handloom saree with pants with smaller pleats of the pallu, makes the look more sophisticated. Go for a high-neck blouse with full sleeves and tie a belt around your waist to make the look office-friendly. Keep your jewelry minimal and let your handloom saree do all the talking. You can even drape the saree in a dhoti style and cinch the pallu at your waist using a kamarbandh or even a wide belt. Wear it with an off-shoulder blouse to add some zing to the outfit.
For another look, drape your cotton handloom saree in the front-pallu style, keeping the pleats neat and narrow. Wear it with a collared blouse and a cute neckpiece. Don't forget that classic clutch to complete the most elegant look.
Choose it well
Starting from silk Khandua sarees to fine cotton Pasapalli sarees, there are plenty of options when it comes to choose a Handloom saree of Odisha. Ranging from vivid colors and textures to subtle neutral shades, everything is available to make your selection difficult. You have to choose the saree well according to the occasion and your body type.
For example, wearing a light-weight Bomkai saree with thin dark borders not only looks stylish, but it also makes you look taller and leaner. Similarly, a heavy double-ikat or Pasapalli saree can be a perfect option for any event, whereas a Kotpad saree can give a more formal look.
Layer it
Fashion styling is all about the layering game and styling handlooms is no different. Wearing them with long hand-woven shrugs and long-line jackets can give an extra oomph to the whole look. You can experiment with different blouse options. You can wear a tonal blouse for a monochromatic look, or go for color-blocking by opting for a contrasting blouse.
Accessories
While an elegant clutch will look great with your handloom saree at a party, a nice handbag will be a perfect accessory to your workplace. Belts can be either faux leather or even sequined if you are going for a glamorous look. Try keeping your accessories muted and simple. You can wear sandals, block heels or even pumps with your handloom sarees. If you're bold enough, you can wear oxford shoes with a formal look.
The handloom sarees can be a luxury and a fashion must-have in your wardrobe. They are rich, elegant and easy-to-carry, making it a perfect option for women of all age-groups. They are not only artistically cultivated, but also give the most dignified look like no other. Wearing the handloom sarees gives an earthy vibe and instantly levels up your personality. So, go ahead and give your personal fashionable spin to the down-to-earth handloom textiles of Odisha.

Link on Facebook page. This is a great article discussing the mental health struggles going on in schools today. I see it all the time. In the article, #2 on the list, "Advisory Programs" is another term for what is implemented in PA. In PA the program is called "Student Assistance Program (SAP)". http://pnsas.org/ Every public school is mandated in PA to have one. I see great success with the SAP program and mentoring students. Call your school, ask if they have a SAP program or something similar outside of PA. Ask how the program works and learn a little more about what's available at your school. Every child needs someone who believes in them and will help mentor them. Every human needs someone who believes in them. ~Ryan. #shapethesky #parenting #SAP #studentassistanceprogram #PASAP #PNSAS #mentalhealth #schoolcounselor #shapethesky #parenting #socialmedia #wisdom #wisekids #wiseteens #responsibility #counselor #therapist #therapy #counseling #digitalkids #digitalteens #parentingadvise #digitalparent #socialworker #counselinglife #training #learning #CEU https://www.instagram.com/p/BwFKTvZnwdB/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1huosi7sdw9k0

Beautifully woven traditional Aanchal Pasapalli Silk Saree . The Pasapalli pattern is a traditional weaving technique that is unique to Odisha. The word `Pasapalli` means `chess board` in the local language. The Pasapalli pattern is created by weaving the threads in a specific manner to create a grid-like pattern. The resulting Saree is characterised by its clean lines, geometric shapes, and different colour contrasts. The pink and purple color combination is a popular choice for traditional clothing and adds a bold and vibrant touch to the saree. Pink is often associated with femininity and youthfulness, while purple is a symbol of luxury and royalty. These colors, when combined, create a harmonious blend of vibrant hues that is both bold and elegant. #orissahandloom #odishahandloom #orissahandloomonline #weavesofodisha #handloomsilksarees #doubleikat #pasapalli #handwoven #sixyardsofelegance #sareelove #sareefashion https://www.instagram.com/p/CombvghSvbS/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
