I was idly thinking about which Sinners (both before and after reveal) are the closest to Don Quixote, and that then got me thinking about Heathcliff and Don, and how in that Canto III scene, Dante speculates that, if it hadn't been Don Quixote who acted first, it probably would have been Heathcliff next.

And you have in Canto VII, Heathcliff praises Don's ideals of "justice, honor... and loyalty". And it defintely feels to me like he shares at least some of those ideas, he too hates it when the oppressed are mistreated and abused (like he was).

But I feel like one of the things that seperated him from Don was that same thing that prevented him from opening the door and speaking to Cathy, what Canto VI calls the [Courage to Approach], he lacks that when it comes to these scenes of injustice, but that's something he admires about Don Quixote, that she doesn't have that lack of courage and has the conviction to act where he and others maybe wouldn't.

I dunno, I just think that's neat!

I've noticed a suspicious number of times in Wordgirl where Tobey's misery or defeat comes from Violet beating him. Anyone else noticed?

she beats him in the young inventors contest in "Tobey Goes Good"

she beats him in the class election at the end in "A Vote For Becky"

she beats him in the class costume contest in "Tobey's Tricks and Treats"

she beats him in the fair city scout badge contest in "Patch Game"

his entire misery with checkers comes from her beating him in the game when they were babies in "Monkey Robot Showdown"

IDK if there's more that have slipped my mind, but yeah the writers love having Violet kick Tobey's ass lmao

Anne wondered why Gilbert should have sent her flowers for Convocation. She had seen very little of him during the past winter. He had come to Patty’s Place only one Friday evening since the Christmas holidays, and they rarely met elsewhere. She knew he was studying very hard, aiming at High Honors and the Cooper Prize, and he took little part in the social doings of Redmond. Anne’s own winter had been quite gay socially. She had seen a good deal of the Gardners; she and Dorothy were very intimate; college circles expected the announcement of her engagement to Roy any day. Anne expected it herself. Yet just before she left Patty’s Place for Convocation she flung Roy’s violets aside and put Gilbert’s lilies-of-the-valley in their place. She could not have told why she did it. Somehow, old Avonlea days and dreams and friendships seemed very close to her in this attainment of her long-cherished ambitions. She and Gilbert had once pictured out merrily the day on which they should be capped and gowned graduates in Arts. The wonderful day had come and Roy’s violets had no place in it. Only her old friend’s flowers seemed to belong to this fruition of old-blossoming hopes which he had once shared.
