as for that specific pbatmb au, i feel like obi-wan just gets his memories back one day. like idk a good night's sleep fixes him. seeing some random seasonal fruit at the store fixes him. something just totally inconsequential does it after months of anakin desperately trying to get his obi-wan back (and then giving up and being unable to leave but also no longer luxuriating in obi-wan's presence like a whipped and downtrodden but still loyal dog)

i imagine obi-wan's fucked up enough that when he does get his memories back he wants to wait a day or two to announce this critical piece of information to his men and anakin. mostly he wants to observe what anakin has done, what he's like now, what obi-wan's injury has meant for him. he gives anakin a mark to take out to measure his compliance and dismisses him without even a good job to see how he responds. he wants to wait a bit longer, just to get more data to add to his understanding of anakin, but when he tries to go to bed that night, he's lonely. he doesn't want to sleep by himself. he, actually, cannot sleep by himself. it's annoying, but he comforts himself with one last task to test anakin with: how quickly does he come to obi-wan's door if he receives a text from him at 3 in the morning demanding his presence?

i was wondering the other day, has mobi-wan seen the recent Interview with the Vampire show? i feel like he would vibe with Lestat. and it might even make the list of Approved Media Anakin Is Allowed To Watch since (spoilers) Louis goes back to Lestat in the end, which vowbreaker-era mobi-wan would approve of. but then again it's hard to tell with mobi-wan

lmao I’m constantly in love with and amused by the idea of anakin being only allowed to watch certain things, Lest He Get Ideas.

Indiana Jones is a yes, because even mobi-wan approves of punching nazis and he’s confident that Harrison ford is not anakins type

Silence of the Lambs is an easy yes

Hannibal season 1 and season 4 are yes’es, but the other ones are deemed too revolutionary

I haven’t seen interview with a vampire yet but I feel like it’d probably be a yes for at least a few episodes. Mobi-Wan would of course find ways of distracting anakin with sex the moment it becomes a no

not really an update of vowbreaker, but i was thinking earlier today about the pbatmb verse and how funny it would be if they ever tried roleplay instead of just murder and sex cause like.

imagine pbatmb!anakin wanting to roleplay like...being a sex worker that obi-wan picks up for the night but that he decides to keep him. obi-wan indulges his pretty bird's desire for roleplaying but also obi-wan is a dramatic bitch so everything needs to be accurate (in spite of how obi-wan has already said many times that he would simply not have to pay for sex and if he saw anakin standing on a street corner and decided he wanted him, he'd simply abduct him and then stockholm syndrome him into loving him)

(cody, who overhears this, is like i thought that's what happened)

(cody gets put on anakin clean up duty for a month)

but like obi-wan in the middle of sex can't keep character because he keeps accidentally calling anakin pretty bird and anakin keeps being like stop it!! you can't call me that!!

and obi-wan is like why ever not?

and anakin is like cause you're not supposed to be in love with me yet and every time you call me pretty bird you sound like you're in love with me!!

hey so I just got all my wisdom teeth removed (bleh) and I was thinking about Vowbreaker again

during their relationship, if anakin ever got his wisdom teeth removed, I wonder what he'd be like waking up from anesthesia. if hed spill one of his secrets to mobi-wan or say smth embarrasing

(I personally did say some hella embarrassing shit when I woke up from anesthesia omg😭😭)

oh no you are so brave for getting your wisdom teeth out i dislike anything to do with dentists near my teeth (when i had to get mine out i think i scarred the dentist with my freak out almost as much as he scarred me with the general operation tbh)

BUT in regards to pbatmb verse i think the funniest thing would actually be like...obi-wan leaves coruscant for a very important meeting on the other side of the country (with suppliers, no one that needs immediate threatening, so of course he leaves his guard dog behind)

(his guard dog also has midterms around then)

and anakin develops tooth pain that cody is just so sure is just anakin being a little bitch about separation from his handler slash husband but finally anakin complains so loudly that cody takes him to the dentist and the dentist is like oh it's an infection on this wisdom tooth. but hey, we should probably just take them all out now.

and cody, who has been given anakin rights, is like sure--wait, how long would he be asleep for after that.

and the dentist is like oh, a few hours and then he'll be heavily affected by painkillers for a bit. very sleepy.

and cody, who prefers anakin unconscious generally, is like amazing. perform the surgery.

and the dentist is like i think we need to get the patient's consent first....

and cody is like. oh. damn :( but anakin does consent and then has the surgery and then he does say silly goofy things upon waking up from anesthesia and cody does not think to video tape them and obi-wan is incensed that secrets or at least this new and different side of his anakin was revealed while he was away.

(obi-wan, surprisingly, is a very good caretaker of anakin post surgery though. reminds him half the time to clean out the pockets where the teeth were. but also tries to contact the dentist to ask him if he could maybe keep the teeth. is shot down for biomedical hazard reasons. dentist is shot. for insane person reasons.)

well, obikin tbh. let’s be real, no use pretending there. my hyperfiixation is very specific. but in january, DinLuke did make a splash, and I have always loved Ahsoka/Barriss as well, but we do always circle back to Obikin so rip me in casual star wars conversation.

ok i resent this question, I have so many WIPs, I want to finish all of them!!! But turn back now and hold me fast are the only true WIPs I haven’t added to in a while (despite my best intentions) so I’ll count them (reluctantly).

What are your writing strengths?

Ah! ok!!! I think my writing is on the whole really easy to read. Also relatable and I hope at least sometimes funny. 

What are your writing weaknesses?

Um. Commas. I have no beta and don’t really want one. But also, I feel like my own grammar faults detract from the fic, and that does suck. But I also never read back more than twice, so, lbr, I need to improve that.

the real question is how does everyone around them feel about pda because you know they're over-the-top and gross and indecent about it. obi-wan's a hair more apologetic & self-conscious than anakin because he knows the weight of society's eyes and the brunt of their judgement a bit more keenly than anakin - because he was on the outskirts for most all of his life and most people were not kind. but even obi-wan's protests are pretty weak because he's just going to be happy for the rest of his life that it all worked out and he gets to love anakin skywalker!!

50. who’s more likely to do something out of spite? (pbatmb au)

lmao you picked like. the most spite-filled verse for this question!! i think the answer has to be mobi-wan, but anakin is a close second for sure. like how can i even decide who is more spiteful? both of them live off of spite. they love spite. most actions they take are out of spite. sometimes at each other (anakin post vowbreaker, obi-wan during blanket thief) but mostly at others. those who terrorize together stay together <3

30. Your OTP gets to pick out each other’s outfits; what is each wearing? (nanny au/freudian slip au)

hmmmmm nanny anakin is a simple man who fell in love with his boss, the very serious music producer, while that man was wearing a bunch of like. business suits and turtlenecks and rolled up oxford sleeves. so he's pretty satisfied with how obi-wan looks in his day to day outfits (hot af) so if he got to choose obi-wan's outfit, i think he'd go like....seriously cosy. maximum cosy. big sweater, glasses, no product in hair cosy because he doesn't get to see that a lot and this is a look that anakin adores and that obi-wan rocks

obi-wan is also a simple man. he's dating a hot young piece. get that boy in a golden speedo (during the month of the year that korkie stays with his ex-wife)

i think the funniest scenario is that they don't actually get a weekend getaway because they can't agree where they want to go. obi-wan wants to take anakin to the beach (even though he knows anakin can't swim) (because then anakin will hold his hand the entire time which obi-wan loves but can't admit it); anakin actually wants to go to a winery/vineyard (he is surprised and dismayed to find himself rooting for this option) because he wants to prove to obi-wan now that they're---whatever they are---that really, honestly, anakin can fit into his world!! really!! he wasn't trying before but now that he likes obi-wan he'd rather try than lose him.

obi-wan doesn't want to go to a vineyard because he used that excuse so many times already when he was planning outings for him and anakin. he just wants anakin, no subterfuge

(except if the subterfuge involves 'you have to hold my hand because i've taken you to an ocean on a boat again even though you can't swim')

snippet - please enjoy a scenario of obikin in the regency au absolutely disliking pda (because of course, it's not pda between each other):

"It's bordering on obscene," Anakin snaps, hand clenching around the fragile wine glass despite his best efforts to keep his tone and posture relaxed.

His cruel and uncaring sister surveys their surroundings and then looks back to him with a slight shrug. "They are sitting next to each other at a banquet, brother. Of course they have found reason to talk to another more often than to the rest."

Anakin scowls. "That is not talking, Ahsoka. Look at them. Sir Fett's hand has rested more on Obi-Wan's arm than the table for the duration of this meal."

"Ah," his sister says. "Forgive me then. I suppose I was not keeping proper attention on Mr. Kenobi's arms and hands. Of course I shall endeavor to rectify--"

The growl that escapes Anakin is completely instinctual and incredibly embarrassing. If, that is, Anakin could find the wherewithal to feel anything but offended irritation at the fact that, a mere ten seats away, at his own banquet, Obi-Wan Kenobi is allowing some other alpha to place his hand on his arm and keep it there as though it belongs there.

As if it could ever belong there.

"You are acting as if it is a claim," Ahsoka murmurs, half incredulous and half irate. She spears a small bit of vegetable on her fork and brings it to her mouth. "As if you did not spend six dances with the lady of Bancarry just the other evening."

Anakin blinks and turns to stare at her. "Euphemia has nothing to do with this--this flagrant flaunt of decorum---"

"He was upset as well," Ahsoka says as if he, her elder brother and her duke, has not spoken at all. "Terribly so, I should say. Spent half the night in the gardens."

"Who?"

"Mr. Fett," his sister says with a roll of her eyes. "Who do you think, Anakin? Your omega Kenobi. During the last ball. He was terribly upset, though I suppose not many were paying attention. Given the Jinn omegas' social standings and every---"

Anakin growls again before he can stop himself. He recovers admirably, but nevertheless it is a recovery. "The Jinn family's social standing should not be given weight nor consideration at my table," he says shortly, setting his cutlery down with the slightest bit of force.

The resulting clang of metal on metal draws the eyes of half the table--Obi-Wan's included.

The omega looks as perfect as he always has, hair perfectly parted and clothes laying perfectly rumpled on his body. His scent, too, is something most definitely from some perfect storybook. If those came with scents. He is everything Anakin has always dreamt about. Has always yearned for.

And yet he's sitting half the table away, allowing some soldier called home from the war to put his hand on his arm.

Anakin has no claim to him. It is true. It is devastating. It is true nonetheless. Obi-Wan may court any alpha he likes. He may allow a thousand men and women to touch him. He may allow a thousand more to call upon his house the next day. He may decide to see those callers this time. He may decide to see them again. He may decide to mate.

This is true.

This is also devastating.

But Anakin finds that he is growing used to devastating from this omega.

And he meant what he said, all those weeks ago. Given the choice between Obi-Wan's absence from his life and this corrosive, hurtful presence---Anakin would chose watching another alpha's fingers curl around Obi-Wan's wrist every time.

Because at least---sometimes---the omega's eyes dart to look at him. And Anakin would not give that shock of blue up for anything in the entire world.

I just wanted you to know that pbatmb lives inin my head rentfree so often I randomly just think about it. Either the main fic or the Aus (like Amnesiewan) on tumblr. It's so good and whenever I reread it I get so obsessed about it again

omg you’re so brave I don’t even venture into the pbatmb tab cause so much goes on there there’s too many lil pbatmb aus housed under the same tag lmao (anakin gets amnesia, obi-wan gets amnesia, what if it was a/b/o - which turned into a fish hook an open eye of course)

but I was thinking about pbatmb today and I have to add like…what if obi-wan gets busy with politics (something pretty bird anakin is known to dislike) so anakin starts going to fighting rings again without permission (something mobi-wan is known to dislike)

And then during a fight some brash young non corrupted cop leads a team to bust up the ring anakin’s at and anakin gets arrested and he’s like wait I’m pretty sure this isn’t supposed to happen? and the cop gives him a long impassioned speech about being new to the city and touch on crime and how a new day is dawning on coruscant and anakins like huh. ok. can I have my phone call

And he of course calls Ahsoka because he doesn’t want to be the one to tell mobi-wan that he’s been arrested

so mobi-wan swans down and asks politely to meet with New Cop and his husband in the chief’s office which is a request that’s immediately granted and then he asks New Cop all friendly about the charges against his husband and hey, were there any witnesses?

and New Cop was like yes there were many witnesses

and obi-wan (pacing behind a sitting anakin) strokes anakin’s hair and is like ‘and do these witnesses understand that they’re accusing my anakin? Anakin kenobi?’)

and anakin preens and New Cop is like it doesn’t matter the name of the person they saw. it just matters what they saw

and obi-wan is like (pushing his fingers into anakin’s neck to the point of pain) how very cute. you must be new here.

and anakin is like you should ask the witnesses again what they saw 🥰🥰 I don’t think anyone will say they saw anakin kenobi 🥰🔪

Cause the only person I can think of crazier than Mobi-wan is Cannon Maul ha ha anyway ignore this.

lmao wait no come back i loved what that perspective swap to the stalker's pov did for the dynamics of vowbreaker but also the universe in general by exploring a pov of someone who is ALSO obsessed with anakin skywalker but like. in a way more sinister and objectifying way.

like in a totally delusional way way that highlights that actually, despite all of his actions and his general vibe and the training regimen he put anakin through, mobi-wan really truly loves anakin and sees him as like. well probably not necessarily an EQUAL but at least like. for what he is. iirc the stalker wants anakin to be like a doll or his princess, but obi-wan has always seen anakin as a fellow monster 🙏

as for maul, maul is defo dead though that would have been interesting!! i don't think i could have made maul obsessed with anakin and not kenobi, but there could have been a story where maul kidnaps anakin to get to kenobi <3

i've just finished pretty bird and the vowbreaker and i'm in tears like oh boy it hurts to watch all of this happen and know that anakin is getting the shortest end of the stick in this whole situation. the part that devastated me was anakin begging cody to put him down like a rabid dog and cody just setting him down like i dunno the like raw emotions the pure grief, the absolute terror and fear, you manage to pack into vowbreaker is delicious and heartwrenching

honestly I love Vowbreaker because it’s the very definition (in my mind) of “what if deception arc but like worse” where the relationship between anakin and obi-wan is soooooooo unhealthy that a temporarily dead obi-wan (even for valid reasons which yeah applies to deception arc dont @ me) literally fucks with anakins brain chemistry so much that an entire city is in danger

literally the next chapter after Vowbreaker begins with anakin murdering people in obi-wan’s own mob. No one is safe. Anakin asks Cody to put him down and it’s not a request he’s literally begging him because he doesn’t know how else to cope and when Cody refuses he turns to the only thing he knows that can fill the hole obi-wans death left

so the other day, i rearranged my entire bedroom at 3am while watching Birds of Prey and it got me thinking of pbatmb....again lol. Now I dont use Tumblr often so I'm taking a risk by asking but for all of us who, like me, are absolutely obbsesed with that fic, do you have anything written/planned for the next chapter of pbatmb that youre willing to share with us?🥺 (i think im begging for a word on it lol)

This is such great timing tho for real cause I just drove for like 10 hours and I passed a flock of vultures picking at a carcass of a deer and it made me think of how anakin must feel after obi-wan “dies” in Vowbreaker and everyone descends around him with questions and requests and comments even when he feels dead too - and I got to my destination and deleted the beginning couple of thousands of words of the next chapter I had that stalled out the story and then I started reworking it with that feeling of slaughtered helplessness center-stage and I like how it flows a lot better

cause it’s like. Unreliable narrator to the max. Vader wants to be strong and unaffected, but he’s not. He’s just anakin still. He’s dead already and he’s messy and he’s struggling and trying desperately to pretend he’s not.

and I think when I was writing the next chapter originally I bought too much into Vader’s confidence that he’s so cool and unaffected and capable because he did this mental switch from referring to himself as anakin to referring to himself as Vader. but he’s STILL just an open wound fr he’s just one who has conned himself into being able to communicate to people again and the next chapter is critical for communicating that yeah, he’s a spinning top slowly toppling over in wider and wider circles

so all that being said, I’m very much thinking about the next chapter of Vowbreaker and I’m very not finished with the story - but I do want to finish hanahaki first and make strides on my coma!obi-wan big bang story as well before I turn back to my longer term wips

Miss Kit I just watched Moulin Rouge for the first time and while there's lots of obikin possibilities my mind immediately jumped to mobi-wan watching it because he'd been told he looked like the lead and HATING it. Satine should CLEARLY go for the duke??? He has everything and can provide for her and what's wrong with wanting to own someone you love??? When christian tells the duke she'll never love him he HISSES. Pretty bird is never allowed to watch this film.

i hope you were not disappointed by how little ewan mcgregor says the phrase "pretty bird" in the birds of prey movie - it is after all a total of 0 times and i have gotten constructive criticism over the years for inflating expectations that viewers would be able to actually hear blue velvet suited ewan mcgregor say 'pretty bird'. i remain sorry for my crimes

I just finished the pbatmb series (vowbreaker has me on my hands and knees!!!) and I have to know. after Anakin knows that obi wans death was fake, how does he feel about obi wan blowing up the club aka his graduation present? bc I did not see that coming i knew the fake death was on the way but I couldn't believe he blew up the club AND IN FRONT OF ANAKIN AND REX i really thought it was gonna be a car accident or something.

i went with blowing up the second club because i figured that honestly, obi-wan would be a bit too much of a controlling personality to actually let anakin own a club because like? what if he wanted to spend some nights there instead of with obi-wan? what if he got swamped with day to day business of running a night club and had less time for obi-wan?? university is one thing, but business owning??? that thing was a ruse from the beginning

(it wasn't really, but i do think when obi-wan is like 'here this is your nightclub' he has decided exactly how much time per week they will be spending at both nightclubs. all the profits will be anakins because it's in anakin's name. but obi-wan has also just gifted himself another nightclub)

BUT anyway post-realization/reveal, i think actually anakin is pretty traumatized by nightclubs altogether. like there's a bit of posturing about 'well you're going to get me another one so help you god' but would he ever be able to look at a night club in his name without thinking about losing obi-wan? i mean, would he even be able to be in the 212 without remembering how it felt to haunt those halls in the time he thought obi-wan was dead??

i feel like there's a story where they end up moving out of obi-wan's penthouse in the 212 and maybe even find a new city altogether. it's a condition of anakin staying with obi-wan. the new city is close by, but it's still not coruscant, which holds too many memories. cody is put in charge of the mob scene in coruscant. this is doubly great for anakin because it means he won't be following them to their new city.
