fogado wakes with a start in a bed he is only vaguely sure belongs to him. nothing seems right; his walls are not intact, precious belongings lie strewn and shattered on the tattered rug of his splintered floor. the brooch he loved to look at on the wall across from his bed is singed, crystal teardrop burst from force, pearlstring snapped, small bell dented. his bandana is half-stuck beneath rubble, and there's a nagging fear that upon freeing it from its confines, what he sees will be all that's left of it. so many more precious things lie beneath the ruins of the monastery, not even just what belongs to fogado, and it's all because of this fruitless, pointless war.

rolling out of "bed," fogado does not have the strength to stand. his legs bow out awkwardly, exhaustion slopping its way through his veins as a thick, viscous poison. he ought to be in the infirmary, but not really, because all things considered he came out of the war in better shape than most.

some people were injured beyond belief.

others died.

fogado thinks about that man often. he thinks about how he had come to him, crawling on the ground, face leaden with resignation. he hadn't the ability to hold a butter knife---no wonder he looked to outsiders for help. he offered the pittance in his coinpurse for a teenager to snuff him out. fogado had accepted the transaction because he was just as desperate as that townsman was. it only served to benefit either of them. there was no waste in that. but he still thinks about him.

that lance sits in his closet---one of the only items almost fully intact from the blasts. he can't stand to look at it right now.

what has he done all of this for? he failed to rally anyone's spirits. he failed to stop anyone from witnessing things they shouldn't have. worst of all, he didn't really even protect anyone in the end. what a disappointment he'd turned out to be.

there is no strength left in him to try again. he lowers to his knees and then to his hands, and he crawls underneath his bed. starlight eyes lose their color and tuck under the crook of his elbow, and he decides that today will not be a day that he will be found.

LOVE Aqua's desgin. She reminds me of the enuma elish somewhat, with how the first two gods were embodiments of water in it, and how they did not like the noise of other life at first. She is so pretty the way water almost envelops her? I can just imagine it shimmering and ohhh I adore it. And her hairstyle makes me think of pearlstrings

That is very interesting, I mostly took inspiration from Pemon's origin mythology to create her, but I am happy to see the lore and myth of creation I did is sound.

For her design, there are these round stones in the lake of Gran Sabana created from the water erosion that makes them perfectly round. The Pemón call them the grandparents of the fish. When they are taken out of the water, they usually tell you to put the stone back in the water so the stone can still try to reach their water family.

Here are some rough initial designs I did for her!

My idea was to give her an elemental veil to give her that sense of elegance but she can also move it at will (Vaporize it when she doesn't need it or turn it into ice if she needs a shield)

You Can’t Count on your Friends When I started my biz, I was 23 years old and had just returned back home after living in Nagpur for four years. I spent the next few years going back and forth between Indore and Bhopal in order to maintain in contact with college friends. In a strange way, I felt like I needed them to know that I still cared about our friendship and I would spend money that I didn’t have in order to stay connected to them. But soon, those trips were far in-between and slowly, I started texting and calling them less frequently. At first, I felt guilty. Like I hadn’t done enough to keep them around in my life. But those feelings quickly faded, my co-workers had become my new friends and I didn’t have enough time or money to continue taking trips to Bhopal.. I partied and shared my frustrations with my co-workers for the next two years. But then I started diploma training in automation and had to quit my job. Shortly after, I lost contact with the group of co-workers that I had befriended and my graduate classmates became my new friends. And so and and so forth, the people that I once knew and shared great memories with would come and go for brief moments at a time, only to be replaced by new people. So, if you’re like me, someone who cares about friendships, understand that the group of people who you are friends with now, will look differently in a few years. And that’s okay. Don’t fight it. Rather, enjoy the time you share together. Enjoy telling each other those secrets that you’re too scared to openly admit to others. Enjoy those late night drives down the beach, eating your favorite fast food burgers, listening to that song that will soon be a reminder of those wonderful memories. Appreciate time and moments.
