Today I cleared my Google drive storage and Gmail by deleting all unnecessary emails. My google account breathed free after a long time and got almost 8GB of free space now. Now that I think about it... we're also like it. We carry a lot of unnecessary attachments and stuff which are not important. As a result, we cannot process things clearly, don't have enough space to store new stuff and are subjected to immense amount of stress. So just I like I did... take some time to clear the junk in your head... Get rid of anger, jealousy or even guilt about things of the past which tint every decision you make that affects your future. Delete all unnecessary attachments which take up space and hinder incoming attachments which have potential in life... If not for any specific purpose, just organize your mind for the beauty of it and enjoy the freedom you get out of it... Use the time for your own advantage... Stop Judging us On Sindoor, Mangalsutra & Bindis I’ve been married for 05 years now and I have a beautiful family with lovable kid and a caring husband. But yesterday, I came to know that neither my love for my kid nor my feelings for my husband were enough to show you how much I am vested in this marriage. Yes, because I don’t wear Sindoor, Bangles, Mangalsutra, Bindis, or any other form of quintessential signs of being married. Because I don’t believe I am a cattle or my marriage is any kind of product that needs a label or a trademark. Five years and a child later I am still questioned by well-meaning aunties, in-laws, friends, house helpers about my refusal to wear these important pieces signifying my marital status. It is heart-breaking how our society is so judgmental when it comes to labelling a married woman? It is extremely sad how quickly it judges her character, her marriage, her love – all through these materialistic commodities. In a cinch of a second, she is either labelled as ‘sanskaari‘ or ‘besharam‘ based on if she follows the unwritten rules of the patriarchal society. I always wonder – Why do married women need to wear signs indicating their marital status? How “ek chutki sindoor,” is more important than the married woman herself? Why our society pressurizes these symbols on us – is it just a patriarchal way to label us as ‘unavailable’? I am not opposed to women wearing these signs out of their own will. But, I have an issue when you start judging me or my love for my husband just because I don’t wear these symbols. It is heart-breaking how some gossip mongers, without even knowing anything about you or your marriage, jump to shitty conclusions about you and your marriage. There are gossip mongers who go like:  “She doesn’t wanna look married.”  “She doesn’t love her husband enough.”  “She too modern.”  “She is a rebel.” It leaves me heartbroken how these symbols are actually used to judge someone’s character or willingness to make the marriage work. This is the first time I am doing this And I can't really explain how I feel In my journey through life, I was raised in a very small city of Maharashtra I grew up in very protective environment & this came with it's pros and cons. I made lots of mistakes & tons of bad choices I went through the bad & the ugly, I had to seek for help to pick myself up from the debris of my past challenges and traumas Nobody had it easy in the beginning and if you peradventure have it all right now it's because someone else had paid the price for you Hence, you are thriving on the suffering & labour of your heroes past I remember a close family of ours telling my parents to marry me off at that early age. In his words, he said I was too ambitious for a girl child & we shouldn't come to seek for help if we go ahead with my plans After graduating, I visited him at his residence with the hope that he will fix me up somewhere He is quite influential, has high value connections I started applying for jobs, went for several interviews, got hundreds of rejection mails I was assisting mumcy with her house chores but I knew I wanted more out of life & we can't continue in same circle I picked up a school bag, few clothes & I moved to Indore with a dream My suffering started the moment I stepped into that city, nobody to live or stay with, I suffered However, I had the belief and conviction that my situation was temporary, life are in stages & my hardship stage was going to pass I kept pushing doors open for growth, I created opportunities to improve on my skills, I knew no one was coming to liberate me hence, I became hungry for success And today, I have transformed from a girl who nobody wants to help, who moved out of her home few years ago & survived somehow To one who God helped to build a small business from the scratch without any investment, have made customized jewelry for famous actresses like #meerajoshi, #Rupalnand Funny enough, I don't have that big money yet, nor cars or houses not even connections in high places But I have a dream, a constant hunger for success & I will keep aiming for the stars as I am not there yet. Don’t Raise Strong & Independent Daughters If You Tell Them to Suffer in Silence Many Indian parents are striving hard to raise strong and independent girls. They make all the efforts to give their daughters the best education and treat them equally to their sons. But, when it comes to letting her live the life of an independent woman, many parents struggle. Raising daughters as strong and independent women is one thing and letting them live life on their terms is another. It is our hypocrisy that we want our daughters to believe themselves at par with boys but also expect them to obey their husbands and his family after marriage. While on one hand, girls are allowed to choose a profession of their choice, they are not expected to be more ambitious or earn more than their husbands. While they are allowed to speak their hearts out, they are not allowed to speak in front of their in-laws, even if they are wrong. If society really wants to raise a strong and independent daughter, then it should follow the below thoughts. ~1: Your Daughter Is Not A Little Girl Anymore – Let Her Do The Thinking.Being a parent is never easy. But do not confuse your responsibility with that of undermining her thought process. Avoid rescuing her every time she is struggling with a problem. Feeding her with the solutions will never make her an independent daughter. ~2: When She Makes Choices That Society Doesn’t Like, Don’t Tell Her – She Is Ghar Ki Izzat & She Needs To Play By Society’s Rule. If she doesn’t want to get married by 28, please respect her decision. If she doesn’t want to marry as per your choice, please respect her decision. Don’t suppress her by telling her she is your Ghar ki izzat and hence, needs to follow your will or society’s patriarchal rules. ~3: When She Demands Equality In Marriage, Don’t Tell Her Shaadi Mein Aisa Hi Hota Hai. SPEAK UP🗣🗣🗣 While growing up, I didn't have a voice of my own. I hated reporting anyone because I always feel bad when someone is punished for my sake. I still feel that way though🤷🏻. One fateful day back in secondary school, one of my seniors sneaked out of the school which was against the school rules but I kept mum about it cos it was none of my business. Unfortunately for him, the principal caught him but he lied that my classmates were the ones who sneaked out and he just went out to punish them. That was a lie right but I still didn't talk until the principal declared a week's suspension for us. Ehh! Suspension ke? I then stood up to talk but no one believed, that was how we suffered for the crime we didn't commit. If I had spoken up earlier; 📌 He would have been caught and punished. 📌 We would have been free. You Can’t Count on your Friends When I started my biz, I was 23 years old and had just returned back home after living in Nagpur for four years. I spent the next few years going back and forth between Indore and Bhopal in order to maintain in contact with college friends. In a strange way, I felt like I needed them to know that I still cared about our friendship and I would spend money that I didn’t have in order to stay connected to them. But soon, those trips were far in-between and slowly, I started texting and calling them less frequently. At first, I felt guilty. Like I hadn’t done enough to keep them around in my life. But those feelings quickly faded, my co-workers had become my new friends and I didn’t have enough time or money to continue taking trips to Bhopal.. I partied and shared my frustrations with my co-workers for the next two years. But then I started diploma training in automation and had to quit my job. Shortly after, I lost contact with the group of co-workers that I had befriended and my graduate classmates became my new friends. And so and and so forth, the people that I once knew and shared great memories with would come and go for brief moments at a time, only to be replaced by new people. So, if you’re like me, someone who cares about friendships, understand that the group of people who you are friends with now, will look differently in a few years. And that’s okay. Don’t fight it. Rather, enjoy the time you share together. Enjoy telling each other those secrets that you’re too scared to openly admit to others. Enjoy those late night drives down the beach, eating your favorite fast food burgers, listening to that song that will soon be a reminder of those wonderful memories. Appreciate time and moments.
