Had another round of six injections in my low back today. The plan is to locate the pain so the doctors can perform a few nerve ablations. Thought I’d share some pics of times I was in considerably less pain. First pic doesn’t fall under the “less pain” category…it’s the hardware that was installed in 1993 at L1 & L2 due to a L2 compression fracture. The scar is 12” long. L2 was fused together and fused to L1. The hardware was removed in 1995 due to it almost tearing through my skin. The rest are past and current gear. It’s been hard to see all the gear I have sitting while the doctors are working on reducing the chronic pain; but I remain positive because the doctors are helping me. Hey hockpock,

I saw your glasses post addition and wanted to know what site you use for your prescription? Bc my astigmatism is also +7 and I’ve only seen sites go up to +6 and I’d love to save some glasses money

-blurry fistbump- my myopia is pretty bad, whereas the correction for the astigmatism is fairly light, don't want to get anyone's hopes up in case of misreading or typos. I'm based in the US and it's also been a few years since i last ordered new glasses.

That said, I've ordered both from zenni and eyebuydirect. Both have an upcharge for lenses over a certain prescription and for the thinned out lenses, but it will still be significantly less than lenscrafters/pearlvision/they're-all-the-same-g'damn-box-store.

Make sure you have your PD accurately, especially if you choose Zenni. To the best of my knowledge their biggest flaw was customer service/returns: you put in the prescription info yourself so if the glasses come out wrong it is presumed to be user error and AFAIK it is a Chinese based company so communication can be difficult. I have never ordered bi/multifocal lenses from them.

There are a few apps that you can try if you are like me, too heckin nearsighted to try and read a mm ruler in the mirror with any precision and don't want to bother a professional. (Though trying to get an accurate non-distorted photo for the app to use is it's own headache. Also looking at your deadeyed unfocused glasses-less face. DISTRESSING. Mortifying ordeal of being known, etc.)

The lower end ($8-12 range) of frames are a bit 'you get what you pay for' on zenni, they feel like a very light resin and less robust in the hinges. My most recent pair were in the $30 range and were a bit more solid feeling. Downside is that they started full rainbow but are now accidentally lesbian pride, the blue and green dyes faded out in the sun.

If I remember right, eyebuydirect does carry "branded" and designer frames, whereas zenni is more about the in house styles. My Zennis came with a clamshell case and cleaning cloth, which was very nice. Both sites had quite fast turnaround and shipping and sent me email updates on the status of my order.
