Es conocido internacionalmente por sus contribuciones a las primeras manifestaciones del arte computacional.  Sus primeros trabajos fueron influenciados por la estética de la información de Max Bense.

Nake generó en secuencia rápida una gran cantidad de obras que mostró en muchas exposiciones a lo largo de los años. Algunos trabajos eran  de serigrafía, piezas individuales y carteras. La mayor parte se realizó como tinta china en gráficos de papel, realizada por un trazador plano de alta precisión llamado Zuse Graphomat Z64.

Este dibujo es uno de los más citados en libros y artículos sobre la primera fase del arte computacional (mediados de la década de 1960). Puede llamarse un ícono de los tiempos pioneros del movimiento de arte digital.

El algoritmo "Polígono aleatorio" (que forma parte del paquete compArt ER56) se utiliza de forma inusual aquí. El dibujo consta de una sola línea poligonal, hecho que puede no parecer obvio a primera vista.

El dibujo generado por computadora pertenece al primero de Nake, y también al primero en todos los dibujos algorítmicos.

Este trabajo también se titula “Curso poligonal No. 7” [Reichhardt 1971, p.66], “Zufälliger Polygonzug”

Arte Generativo

El arte generativo, se refiere al arte que ha sido generada, compuesta o construída de un modo algorítmico a través del uso de sistemas definidos por ordenador o por un proceso autónomo similar, sea matemático, mecánico o aleatorio. Hablamos de arte generativo cuando la práctica artística se basa en el uso de un sistema como método de producción. En este tipo de arte, el sistema debe operar con un cierto grado de autonomía.

 Matt DesLauriers desarolla objetos reales, que ya no esten sujetos a los sistemas generativos, sino que pasen de lo digital a un escenario de la vida real, dicho de otro modo a una impresion 3D.

Para crear este tipo de ploter, se utiliza una maquina trazador de boligrafos, que funciona como un brazo robotico. El software envía comandos al dispositivo para elevar, reposicionar y bajar su brazo a través de una superficie 2D.

La máquina es muy adecuada para el arte lineal programático y algorítmico.

En esta pagina habla un poco mas sobre su trabajo a detalle, en el que tambien aborda el tema sobre los videojuegos ya que es un tipo de creador visual y creativo. 

Hasta ahora, todo mi trabajo con AxiDraw ha sido con JavaScript y una herramienta experimental que he estado construyendo, llamada penplot . La herramienta actúa principalmente como un entorno de desarrollo, lo que facilita la organización y el desarrollo de nuevas impresiones con una configuración mínima.

En lo personal su trabajo me es interesante porque alguna vez habia pensado en hacer este tipo de cosas, no lo sé pero se me ocurre trabajar con algo de esto en base de algoritmos, no siendo necesariamente un programador, vi otros ejemplos como:

Sus obras de arte conceptual, procesal y minimalista exploran ideas a través de la lente contemporánea del software. Las imágenes que Reas genera por software derivan en obras dinámicas y estáticas. Cada traducción revela una perspectiva diferente del proceso y se combina con las otras para producir rastros visuales en continua revolución.

En mi opinion, siento que estos trabajos ademas de que son espectaculares tienen un grado de interes algo alto a mi consideracion, me interesa esta parte de imagenes abstractas y lineales totalmente.

Art by @a.i.gardening Turing pattern . . . This 4x4 tiling was produced by the Gray-Scott algorithm, which codes the pair of non-linear partial differential equations governing the coupled reaction and diffusion of a pair of chemical reagents. Not being anything of a chemist, I'm hooked by the displaced interlocking of the edges, and the overall complexity of the patterns which materialise from these simple equations - in fact there's a large range of shapes and patterns which can result. In addition to his work on theoretical computer science, Alan Turing in 1952 wrote the seminal paper "The Chemical Basis of Morphogenesis" on this phenomenon, which is highly relevant in many biological processes and dynamical systems. I've rendered this pen plot with shading and outline to match the emergent 80's Haring vibe.
