The Plein Air Hooligans club took in some painting over the weekend. The weather was cool and overcast. Took on a well worn subject Stage Fort Park in Gloucester. Enjoying my shiny Pentalic AF Aqua Journal ( 140lb Watercolor Sketchbook) 👌 A few people asked what I'm using for these sketches, so apart from my new fav sketchbook, I use an F Pencil to sketch then use my Pentel of America Aquash Water Brushes and Winsor & Newton Cotman Water Colours Sketchers' Pocket Box and carefully layer up the color until you see this nice saturated image that has definition and stuff 😁 #notspon but ya know I'm always open to doing art supply reviews!

REVIEW PART TWO I recently acquired a Pentalic Aqua Journal for review and overall I really like it! The size of this guy is 7x10" which I love. It allows for larger pieces or a bunch of smaller ones to fit on the same page. The paper is very thick at 140 lb (300gsm) but I still choose to just paint on one side to avoid any smudging or color transfer to the other side. ⭐️At 300 gsm this paper is *very* thirsty which I was not initially ready for. It absorbed watercolors quickly and didn't allow for much lifting of the pigments. ⭐️Paper holds up well to erasing and rubbing. ⭐️I tend to paint thick with gouache but on this paper it seemed to just sit awkwardly on top and not super absorb like the watercolors did. With some mint adjustments on my side this was no problem. ⭐️ Pen / Ink held up well on the paper and there was no feathering. The Sphynx cat was done primarily done with the Pentalic brush pen and I really enjoyed it. ⭐️Sizing is good, I noticed no problems. Overall I really like this watercolor sketchbook, especially for its size and paper thickness which can stand up to my abuse 👍🏻. #sphynxart #sphynxcatart #pentalicaquajournal #watercolor #watercolorsketchbook #gouache @pentalicart #pentalic
